[0:00]Most people don't realize that the majority of fitness advice comes from competitive bodybuilding. Bodybuilders are seen as the pinnacle of fitness. Shredded physiques, defined muscles, visible strength and iron discipline. So naturally, coaches and personal trainers become bodybuilders. I did too, don't worry. And then pass the same approach on to all their clients. You're probably following a bodybuilding split right now, and there's nothing wrong with that, if your goal is to step on stage. Even when I was competing on the pro stage many years ago, I had to stop training certain muscle groups just to fit my category. Because bodybuilding, it's all about how you look, not how you move, feel, or perform. So if your goal is to move well, feel strong and build a body that doesn't feel fragile. Training like a bodybuilder probably isn't the best approach. The truth is, many bodybuilders deal with nagging injuries, spend hours in the gym, and struggle with basic functional movements like jumping and sprinting. Their training is hyper specific, and no one's talking about the gaps that it leaves behind. It's not built for power, strength, mobility, fitness, or longevity. So if your goals go beyond just getting a pump, it might be time to change your approach. And start training to move better in life, not for a stage you'll never step on.
