[0:00]The design of the discharge piping for high temperature centrifugal pumps is critically important. During this design process, it is essential to minimize the loads transmitted to the pump nozzle. Instead of routing the valves vertically upward immediately after the nozzle, the piping should preferably be turned using an elbow in a fitting to fitting configuration. Following this, the valve should be installed in a horizontal layout and supported from the ground. This approach ensures that the thermal behavior of the pipe and the pump under high temperature conditions will be similar, thereby minimizing the loads acting on the nozzle. The next step in the design is to add restraints to the supports. These restraints must be placed in such a way that they do not oppose the natural movements of the pump and piping, nor should they restrict their thermal expansion behavior.
