[0:13]Hello and welcome back, friend. This is our second chapter, and in this chapter, we will learn about various components which is used in MEC and MEB. This chapter is basically beneficial for those who have not yet gone to the ship equipped with the ME engines. So let's start.

[0:39]Learning objective, various thing we will learn in this topic are as follows.

[0:46]First, overview of main engine. HCU means hydraulic cylinder unit. Tacho encoder and Tacho amplifier.

[0:57]MPC and MPC 10. EICU, CCU, ECU, CWCU, ACU, SCU.

[1:07]MOP A and B. PMI computers. UPS A and B.

[1:15]Safety system. Remote control system. Safety blocks. And last, HPS pump and auto filters.

[1:31]So this is our first component and main component that is a main engine. And this photograph has taken from the top of the main engine.

[1:39]Here I want to describe little bit some major components. Like here you can see, this is the main exhaust manifold of the engine. And these are individual units exhaust trunking.

[1:55]This is the exhaust valve. This is the high pressure pipe for fuel injector, these two. And this is high pressure pipe for exhaust valve.

[2:08]Here, hydraulic cylinder unit is located. This unit is called the accumulator unit.

[2:15]So here we will look for close view of hydraulic cylinder unit.

[2:20]This is the close view of hydraulic cylinder unit. So this both pipe are called the high pressure pipe for fuel injection.

[2:27]This is the booster unit. This is the fuel inlet. This is the suction valve. This is the accumulator. This is the junction box of individual units.

[2:37]So now move to the another picture.

[2:42]Here I have represented the close view of individual hydraulic cylinder unit.

[2:48]So here you can see again. This is the booster unit, suction valve, fuel inlet line, accumulator, LFE, HEVA. This is junction box.

[3:00]This is the high pressure pipe for exhaust valve. This is the exhaust valve actuator. This is the oil inlet.

[3:09]In the another type of hydraulic cylinder unit, this is the booster unit. This is the leak of line for this two high pressure pipes.

[3:22]Here, instead of LFE and LEVA, the FIVA is installed. So you won't find LEVA. This is the cylinder lubricator, accumulators. This is the lube oil line inlet to the exhaust valve actuator.

[3:38]This is the high pressure pipe of the exhaust valve actuator. Next, this picture is of different model compared to the previous.

[3:47]So here you can find the different type of exhaust valve are installed. So here also same, this is the exhaust valve high pressure pipe.

[3:57]This is the fuel injection high pressure pipes. And this is, these are the individual unit junction box. And here the hydraulic cylinder unit are located.

[4:08]Rest all are same. Now moving to next picture. This is Tacho encoders.

[4:16]You will find that these Tachos are installed at the forward part of the engine and just after the torsional vibration damper unit.

[4:25]So this is torsional vibration damper unit. After that, you will find Excel vibration unit inside crankcase.

[4:33]So here I have represented two picture of the Tacho encoders.

[4:39]So in this Tacho encoder you can find that this is the grub screw. Here. So function of this grub screw is to tighten the shaft which is passing through this hollow shaft of the Tacho encoder.

[4:54]So here, one shaft is there which is attached to the crank shaft and also passes through this two encoders.

[5:01]There are two encoders installed, Tacho encoder A and Tacho encoder B. So we will see later in detail.

[5:08]But here as of now, my intention is to show you that where the Tacho encoders are actually installed.

[5:16]Next is Tacho encoder amplifiers. Here, these two box indicates the Tacho encoder amplifier.

[5:25]This is Tacho encoder amplifier A, and this is Tacho encoder amplifier B. So, how will you know that this is Tacho encoder amplifier A, and this one is Tacho encoder amplifier B?

[5:39]By seeing the wires. More wire means this is Tacho encoder amplifier A. Less wire means Tacho encoder amplifier B.

[5:50]So here also you can see that these are the two Tacho encoders are fitted. Inside one is Tacho encoder A, and outside one is Tacho encoder B.

[6:00]This is situated at bottom platform near Tacho encoder at FWD side of main engine. Means this amplifiers are located near to the encoders, Tacho encoders.

[6:14]Now here we will talk about this unit. This unit is called marker slave for TSA.

[6:22]Please note, this is the marker slab for TSA, not TSB. Means it is a part of the Tacho encoder A and not Tacho encoder B.

[6:35]Okay, so many people get confused about this equipment, that this is a RPM sensor, or this is a TDC sensor, like this.

[6:46]But it is neither a TDC sensor nor RPM sensor. This is just a proximity sensor, but it is a part of the Tacho encoder A.

[6:59]And this unit, you will find situated around this area of the main engine. Just near to the flywheel.

[7:08]So we will move to our next component that is MPC. MPC means multipurpose controller.

[7:15]So this is a multipurpose controller. And this plate is called the multipurpose controller specification plate.

[7:23]So this multipurpose controller can be used as variety of components like EICU, ECU, CCU, ACU, SCU, and CWCU.

[7:47]Now we'll move to our next component that is called the MPC10. This is the picture of the MPC10.

[7:54]The full form of MPC10 is multipurpose controller 10. But this MPC acts as a CCU only.

[8:02]It cannot be act as a ECU, EICU or ACU, etc. Only CCU.

[8:08]Please remember, this MPC is used only as a CCU.

[8:15]Our next component is EICU. This is the EICU cabinet.

[8:20]This cabinet is situated inside ECR. And when you will open this cabinet, you will find two number of EICUs, EICU A and EICU B are located inside.

[8:32]Our next components is CCU, ECU, ACU, SCU, CWCU boxes.

[8:39]So here you can see various boxes are installed. So these boxes contains this unit like CCU, ECU, ACU, etc.

[8:50]So I am just briefing about all these component where are they located.

[8:58]So one box you will find that this contains only CCUs.

[9:02]Means all CCUs are installed in one box. Another box you will find that this box contain both ECUs, all three ACUs, one number of SCUs.

[9:19]This box is called CWCU cooling water control unit. This is situated little bit far from these two boxes.

[9:30]All these MPCs are inside boxes and situated at maneuvering platform.

[9:40]LOP. This is the picture of the LOP. This LOP is situated at the engine maneuvering platform.

[9:59]Next is PMI Cocos EDS computer. This computer also located inside ECR.

[10:09]Next one is UPS A and B. This UPS A and B unit are also installed inside the ECR.

[10:21]Next is safety system. Safety system is also located inside the ECR and another place on the bridge also.

[10:30]But on the bridge, its repeater unit is installed. Means the main unit is installed inside the ECR.

[10:38]Next one is remote control system. So this is the remote control system. This is also located inside the ECR and another unit is installed on the bridge.

[10:50]So both ECR and bridge communicate with each other.

[10:55]So now our next component is safety block. This safety block is used for MEB engine.

[11:02]We will learn in and out about this safety block in coming chapters. This safety block is situated at the main engine cylinder platform.

[11:14]Our next component is safety block in case of MEC engine. So it looks like this.

[11:22]So this safety block is installed near to the flywheel or at maneuvering platform.

[11:31]Our next component is high pressure pipe. As I have just stated before that this part is safety block here. And the high pressure from safety block comes directly and enter inside the engine casing. And then it travel upward and then it goes into the high pressure hydraulic oil distribution chamber.

[11:53]I will show you later on. This is the engine.

[11:58]So this high pressure pipe is installed somewhere around here, just near to the flywheel in the first compartment of the engine.

[12:08]So our next component is engine driven HPS pump. So this all three are engine driven HPS pump. So we will talk later in detail about all these setups, all these lines, etc.

[12:22]So this engine driven HPS pumps are situated near flywheel or at maneuvering platform.

[12:32]Next component is electrical driven pump. This is the electrical driven pump. This is installed near flywheel or at maneuvering platform.

[12:45]Our next component is hydraulic oil filter unit. So this is the hydraulic oil filter unit. This whole setup is called the hydraulic oil filter unit.

[12:54]This is the manual filter and this is the auto filter. We will also discuss later on in detail about all this setup.

[13:03]This filter unit is situated at bottom platform or at maneuvering platform.

[13:16]Our next component is AMS computer means alarm and monitoring system computers.

[13:21]So this is the picture of the alarm and monitoring system computers. These are two in numbers and these are situated inside the ECR, engine control room.

[13:33]Thank you for watching this video. I hope you have learned a lot. The end. Bye bye, take care, have a nice day.
