[0:00]All right, today I'm finally going to be doing the shrooms in the barn build tutorial. It's super easy. All you need is three chemists, five botanists. Not today either then, because the weather update is here. And honestly, I did not expect it to go this hard. Highland Point is in the middle of one of the greatest glow-ups of all time. And Tyler and Rob absolutely ate with this one, period. Like seriously, they're in their baddie era, ready to gaslight, gatekeep and girl boss their way to a much more beautiful game. I mean, have you ever noticed that there was never a sun or moon in the game? Just two blank orbs floating in the sky? It was boring, and the world felt kind of bland, so they changed it. But that's not the only new thing bundled in this update, because we got new weather patterns and plenty of other features that come with their own surprises. Now, before we jump into this, I want to say that no, the rain and all the other weather features don't cause lag. I understand you may be worried about your potato PC rendering one frame per second as soon as a light drizzle hits the town. But let me be the first to assure you that the rain is only a shader effect, and the game is not rendering individual drops or anything crazy. So you shouldn't see a performance decrease at all. But with that out the way, let's take a look at this month's update. And we'll start off with the biggest news, the biggest part of this update. Weather is finally a part of schedule one. The constant sunny days are over, so you'll now have to battle clouds, fog, rain, and lightning to continue your expansion in Highland Point. Four new weather types have been added, which provide a huge amount of variety to the daily grind and make Highland Point seem new and interesting all over again. First, we have foggy weather, where the clouds descend and cover the whole town, making it a bit more difficult to see things. The second type of weather is overcast. This one fills the sky with dark clouds, washing out color and making the town a bit darker. Then, we have light rain, where the clouds open up and a drizzle begins, which can turn into heavy rain, where lightning strikes and thunder provide constant danger, and buckets of rain pour down from the sky. And if it feels like lightning is striking your brain every time you try to learn programming, I may have the perfect solution for you. We all know studying sucks, but we never really talk about why. We're taught that if you can't sit down and study for 6 hours straight, it's your fault and a skill issue. But what if our method of studying is just outdated? Let me tell you why boot.dev could genuinely be your chance to learn programming the right way. Whenever you sit down to learn something, nothing immediately happens. There's no fireworks that go off or rewards to be collected, so you get bored, end up doom scrolling, and any information you may have retained gets forgotten. Boot.dev attacks this problem head-on by gamifying studying. Lessons are turned into small tasks where you get to figure out the answer yourself by writing code and evaluating the result. If you ever get stuck, there's resources right there for you to learn how to get it done. After each task is completed, you get XP and rewards that literally hack your brain into wanting to study more. Traditional study methods can't hold a candle to the way this site works, so go sign up for boot.dev. If you click the link in the description or use the code Big Willy, you can get 10% off today. And if you're worried it might not be a good fit for you, boot.dev offers a 30-day full refund policy, so you can always get your money back in case it doesn't work out. And now, back to Willy with the weather. Today's forecast calls for four new weather systems. First up, we have foggy weather, where the clouds descend from the sky and roll through the streets, covering the entire town of Highland Point in a thick haze. Buildings fade into silhouettes, street lights glow faintly through the haze, and the whole town suddenly feels a lot smaller and a lot more dangerous. Because visibility drops fast in the fog, so you'll want to keep your wits about you, and maybe keep a weapon within arm's reach. Because if there's one thing the Benzes love, it's testing their luck when nobody can see more than 20 feet in front of them. So if you're heading out after dark, while the fog is rolling in, maybe think twice before wondering too far from the safety of your base. The second new weather type is overcast, which at first glance looks a bit like the foggy weather, but somehow feels even darker. Instead of thick fog rolling through the streets, the sky is just completely blanketed with heavy dark clouds. The sun disappears, the lights get washed out, and all the color drains from the town, like someone turned down the saturation slider. Highland Point suddenly feels colder, quieter, and honestly, a little bit unsettling. It reminds me of those scenes in horror movies, where nothing bad has happened yet, but you can tell something definitely will. The streets feel emptier, the air feels heavier, and there's this weird tension hanging over the whole town like the calm before a storm. It's eerie, it's uncomfortable, and it really makes Highland Point feel like a completely different place. This one is my personal favorite. The next weather type is called light rain. During the rain, you'll notice NPCs walking outside will pull out umbrellas. A few of them, however, have real crackhead energy, and instead of spending $5 on an umbrella, they just start sprinting. The rain will also trigger some unique dialogue when speaking with NPCs, so you'll finally have some reason to check in with your local customers, aside from the daily sales. The rain will also affect you as well, which you'll notice almost immediately. Rain, whether light or heavy, will leave puddles on the ground. Not only do these look amazing thanks to the ray tracing, but they can also affect your driving and skateboarding. Spinning out and fish-tailing will be far more common, and when I tried driving on stream, it did not end well. So, I better buy some car insurance. On the plus side, though, for all you thrill seekers out there, it's now easier than ever to go drifting. Watch.
[6:19]All right, finally, the last weather system. It's time to talk about the most dangerous and unpredictable part of the weather update, the heavy rain and lightning. Every time thunder occurs, which is fairly frequently, there's about a 4% chance it will also strike the ground with lightning. This lightning can hit buildings, NPCs, and even your workers. Strikes near NPCs will cause them to enter a panic state and seek shelter. And for good reason, if lightning actually hits the NPC, they die. Lightning can also destroy Cuke machines and ATMs as well, so maybe don't go around smashing them all for petty cash. Lightning can also strike you, too. Thankfully, however, Tyler once again hooked us players up with some superhuman abilities. Getting struck by lightning instead of killing you will give you a minute long speed boost, letting you sprint through the town with superhuman speed. I just know this is going to end up being some insane tech with all the speed runners out there, but that's basically all we have for today's weather report. Thanks for tuning in. But hey, weather's not the only thing that got added in this update, because in addition to the weather, we've also received some new commands for the new update. Mostly dealing with the weather. Set weather allows you to change the current weather. Set weather speed lets you change how quickly storms come and go. Trigger lightning calls down lightning in a random or targeted location, and trigger distant thunder causes quiet thunder and cloudy skies. So now that we've covered the major part of this update, let's go over some of the more behind the scenes portions of the update. Some of you with sharp eyes may have already noticed, but the moon has received an update as well, both getting slightly larger and new texture. Those nighttime smoke sessions gazing across the bay are going to be more beautiful than ever. And a lot of you who have been begging for more interaction with the police will be happy to learn there are now new sentries standing guard all around the town. A total of nine spots have been added around the town, including the central canal, near the stash and dash, close to Ray's realty, and outside Mick's pawn shop. These will provide new and interesting strategies from the police. Make sure to keep an eye out for the law trying to jump you and protect your product. The next change we got was that the docks warehouse has received a slight buff to employee count, moving from 10 total employees to 12. And while this won't have an immediate impact on the greater community, there will certainly be some changes coming to the super optimized build. So keep an eye out if you're all about those late game optimization tweaks and you love min maxing. And while I always appreciate any change when it comes to farms, I really wish Tyler would stop updating things so I could actually get a few of these builds done. Another minor tweak we got was that there seems to be some sort of change done to the way that trash spawns, as traversing the town feels a lot smoother and there seems to be a lot less litter on the streets and roads. Fewer trash spawns means smoother frames and less lag, so hopefully this is an unnoticed tweak to help the game feel more fun to play. To wrap things up, there's a few smaller changes made to the skies that nonetheless make Highland Point feel a little bit more alive. Dusk and dawn now have a bloom effect and they're prettier than ever. And high wispy clouds make the background mountains and sea that much more beautiful to look at. I hope you guys enjoyed this video, and I hope you guys enjoy the update. Thank you all for watching, and as always, stay silly y'all.
