[0:05]Hello.
[0:08]Yes, gamers. The year is over. 2025 more like 2020 bye. It's time for 2026. That's 2000. And 26 years since my boy JC. What a year, hey? What a year, another year, another dollar. That's what they say. And so to celebrate, why not have some very, very lovely and accepting wine. Where's it from? Oh, it's it's French. This is probably going to be a yearly thing. I want to give you a little a little yearly recap of what's been going on. I don't know. I feel like I don't talk to you guys enough just like off the cuff. Very unscripted, very wine. Mm, very wine indeed. So I thought what a good way to end the year, you know, me and you and the rest all sat and answering some questions and talking about what we've been up to this year. Does that sound good to you? First up, I predicted the Mr. Beast theme park. I did. I did. I was watching a video. I was watching a YouTube video of of of of a roller coaster in Abu Dhabi. And my first thought was, this is something Mr. Beast wants. I wrote down on my notes app, um, I wrote down Mr. Beastland, the Mr. Beast theme park or something to that effect. And Mr. Beast, if you need any more of your incredible ideas, reach out to me. I can give you your own ideas back at you. So for this video, I went on my Instagram and I posted a story asking for people to send me any question. And I was going to go through and the most common questions I would answer today for you. And boy were some of the questions good. Some... My name's Wilbur Su and this is my end of year recap Q&A rambling. The thing that not many people know about years is that there's just a whole mess of them. Each one that comes along, I'm always doing a different silly little task. And this one was no different, actually. I've been doing silly tasks all year. The first few months of the year, I was in the studio. I was in the studio with my band Love Joy and we were recording our debut album One Simple Trick. We recorded it in Bristol over the span of many, many, many weeks. Me and Joe stayed in an Airbnb. The rest of them didn't come, the rest of them stayed in a hotel because they're too good for us. Who's that?
[2:57]We got a lot done. And in fact, a lot of it didn't actually make it on to the record. We have a bit of a tendency to um cut songs. That's still the case. We haven't stopped doing that. I don't think we're ever going to stop doing that, but we have a little gift. A little surprise for next year that um I don't want to give too much away, um so I won't.
[3:23]April and May. Now none of you actually know about this, but I spent May in the Netherlands visiting some friends. But I also had ulterior motives. I planned to make a video about the middle of each country because there's some interesting stories about the middles. So I went to the middle of the Netherlands and well, I cracked my phone at some point. Oh snap. When they were making the Netherlands, this was the first thing they put down. Fucking big lump of rock. And for this one moment, I am in hell because if I want to get away from the Netherlands, I am in the literal geographical worst place to be. Yeah, it was just a fucking rock. I didn't really have anything to say about it because there's there's nothing to say. It's just it's just an arbitrary point. But yeah, I went to Amsterdam a lot of the time and I got very drunk. That's the best thing to do when you're in Amsterdam. Second best thing to do. Third third best thing to do. In June and July, we played festivals in both Czech Republic and Milwaukee, which was a lot of fun. I ate a lot of cheese and I got inspiration for a video I ended up releasing in December about the flag of Milwaukee. There was another video that got canceled around that time that I was going to do, which I want to come back to next year, so I'm going to stay quiet about it until then. Also in July, I went to the most northern point in Continental Europe, which is in Norway. Allegedly. I ended up just being a road trip for me and my friends, really. We we uh, we rented a car and just drove up the coast of Norway together in the middle of the summer. And it was great. I got to go I did a little dip in the Arctic Ocean. Uh, got to see loads of reindeer, loads of went on a little hike. I got recognized by this um by this dog sledding guy. And he was really confused why I was in this this this town in Northern Norway. He invited me to come with him to go and meet his dog sledding instructor, and I said no. And I really regret it. Reuben, I remember your name. Next time I'm in Alta, I'll post on my Instagram that I'm in Alta. And and I'll meet you in the shopping center and you can take me to meet your dog sledding instructor.
[5:37]In September though, I did possibly the strangest thing I've done in my entire life, and I went to Calvert Island in Canada off the coast of British Columbia. That is probably one of my favorite videos I've ever made in my life. If you haven't seen it, again, it's on this channel, you can go check it out. I was expecting to take a boat up to up to this object I'd seen on Google Earth. Go up and touch it and go home. I ended up hiking through a rainforest. I took a helicopter ride. Here's some footage from my trip to Calvert Island that's never been seen before. You shouldn't be filming here. You know that I'm filming here. This is security. I'll film this for sure. I can't. Literally no one's stopping you.
[6:19]It's crazy to think God made this. Also, you have two double beds, that's crazy. One for each of my ladies. She's called Cassandra and I don't very much care for the second one, so I did not care to learn her name. That's rude. I don't have time. Hi, editing Will here. For legal and spiritual reasons, I thought I should mention those two women are not real. And if they were, I'd learn her name and her eye color, and her star sign, and her favorite movie. Also, I didn't punch a hole in my bathroom wall in that Fundy video. That was peeling paint from my shitty landlord. I'm not that strong. Why does everyone keep calling me a performative male?
[7:10]What?
[7:13]Through October and November, me and my band Lovejoy went on a tour of the North American continent through Canada and the United States. It was absolutely incredible. Out of all the tours I've been on, this one is is very high up. It's hard to say if it's my most favorite right now because, you know, it's it was only happened a couple months ago. It's definitely near the top. We did some new stuff, too. We did meet and greets for the first time, which I was frankly really nervous about. Yeah, it was very emotional for me and uh I've still got all your gifts, and I plan on on putting them all up in this background over the course of the next couple months. All right, you know what time it is, motherfuckers. You know what time it is. I know why you're here. You're here for a Q and or A. Well, guess what? I'm going to tell you.
[7:59]Aha. New camera. New angle. I'm on my phone. This is my phone. You're in my phone right now. We're going to start off with a quite a deep one. Big first question here. Are you ready? How is it going?
[8:19]It's going good. Uh, I've had a really nice year and I'm ready to do it next year, too. Next question. Where are you right now in the world? In Brighton. I live in Brighton in England. I have a house share with a bunch of my friends. We all live together. I do plan on moving uh very soon, but until then, yes, I live in Brighton in England. What got you into geography in the first place? I don't know. I don't know. Are you going bald? Oh my god. I've answered this. Time and time again. How many times do I have to fucking tell you guys? Yes, I'm going bald.
[9:03]Why do you have Bo Bear? Bo Bear. Bo Bear. So um earlier this year, we don't really do it anymore, which is kind of a shame actually, but me and my friends used to have this game. Where we'd go on Temu, I'd like screen share my phone with the TV and we'd give ourselves a budget and then we just scroll through like the for you page on Temu and just buy anything we saw. Do you remember that cheese that I threw at the wall? That time, that was from Temu. So that's where that's from. It's a Temu thing. It's I love it. I love it. Bo Bear. Bo Bear. Can you give us a clue for your next album? I would love to. With one simple trick, I kind of said everything I want to say. Our next album, I want it to be high concept. Now, for those of you that have never heard of concept albums, they're um albums with overarching storylines. I want to do something pretty much on the brink of being super high concept. I want to I want a story. I want to make a movie but with an album. And something that I can play a character and role play and and get into. That's what's coming next. Stick around. That's that's we're going to be working on that. Why do you always hold the phone upside down in your covers? Actually, this is the right way up. You see, I don't I haven't really shown this microphone before. This part here, that's the receiver. Okay. It's where all the wires are. So the microphone's on this end. They put it on the other end. I'm so glad I finally get the opportunity to talk about this. My comments love talking about how I'm talking to the wrong end of the phone, and it's always used as a kind of gotcha. So finally I can get you back. It is the right end of the phone. Listen to the difference. This is me talking into the uh the the where it should be. This is me talking into where it actually is.
[10:58]Forehead check. I don't know why you guys always want that. Since you went to the most northern point, will you now go to the most southern point? Uh, do you want to know what's at the most southern point? It's a chair. A correctly placed chair. It's not there's nothing wrong with it, and it's just the video would be me going, here I am. So no, I'm not going to the most southern point. Maybe like a YouTube short if I'm in the area, but why would I be in the area? Will you tour Europe? God, I really want to. What video games do you play? World of Warcraft and nothing else. Will you ever come back to streaming? Big questions. Yeah, this one gets asked a lot. Yeah, recently I found myself having lots of streaming ideas, lots of stuff I'd like to do live that having no place to do it. And while I was on tour during these meet and greets, I would say every third person was telling me how much me streaming had helped them. It felt very real and sincere and and genuine and something corporeal that I could understand. I don't know, I had it recontextualized to me by the lighting designer on my most recent tour. He he came up to me and he asked me if I if I was going to go back to streaming when I when I when I went back to the UK. He said, I think you should. So it used to be a really strong no. The things I was doing on stream, I wasn't able to dedicate enough time to. I was away, I was busy, I was releasing all this new stuff for Lovejoy. It was, you know, there was a lot of momentum, a lot of stuff happening and I couldn't dedicate the time. And and one of the main reasons as well was because of Twitch. I I felt like um I don't know, I never quite recovered from some of Twitch's um little mishaps. My issues with Twitch aren't aren't like aren't aren't completely unremable. As of right now, if I was to stream, it would be on YouTube. And I'm sure YouTube has its own issues. I'm not saying YouTube is going to be some shining pillar of of glory, but in answer to your question, what was once a firm no is now a really strong maybe. I'd even say a probably. God that wine is is big. That's a full bodied wine. Now I know why they call it the fat bastard. You don't make videos with your friends anymore. Do you still have friends? Yes. I find the train of thought that content creators are only friends with the people they show in their videos and and that they show on live stream or whatever. I find that train to thought to be quite funny. Will you release more solo music? Haha. Yes. So many solo songs I've written that just haven't gone anywhere. They've just kind of been lingering in the toilet bowl of my mind. I would love to do another solo album. Maybe not an album, maybe a solo EP. Yes. Uh I could see myself releasing next year even 2026. I could see it. Not a definite again, but I could definitely see myself at least recording something next year. We'll see. Is Lovejoy going to make more music videos? Yes. Yes, we are. We are. Um, I want to do a music video for one of the songs already released. Uh, but there might be more. Hypothetically, if there was a new song, when would it be released? You think you can get that info out of me that easily? You think you can just you just roll in here and just say when white boy, when? Spring.
[14:43]Will you do more covers? If I do more covers, it wouldn't be on this channel. This channel is now my my talkie space. If I did more covers, it would probably be on Instagram reels or maybe a second channel, who knows? Why did you shave your mustache? Oh God, the mustache. I only grew it for a month. I I grew it for a month in November in 2024, and I always intended that after that month, I would shave it off. And I'll be honest, I have thought about the mustache since then. I've thought, hm, do I do I like the mustache? And the conclusion I've come to is, yeah, it's okay. Um, how many brown curly-haired white boys can you think of with a mustache?
[15:28]Exactly. I think there's too many. When I was growing up, the Millennials all had like mustache tattoos on their fingers and stuff. Mustaches were like really like hipster and I was like really little. So to me, that's like stuff that like the older kids were into.
[15:45]It was mustaches. As a Zillennial, I I think I'm going to have to say no to the mustache. Will you keep doing meet and greets? Yes. Definitely. Cuz we used to just go out and chat for hours, like back like outside the outside the venues, but um due to heightened security things, uh, I'm not able to do that anymore, unfortunately. Um, but what ended up happening was I loved it. I really loved doing meet and greets. I felt like I connected with the audience so much closer. I mean, normally when I'm up on that stage, when I don't have my glasses on and I'm dancing around, the the crowd is just a bunch of blurry faces. Being able to at the beginning of a show, stand there and actually talk to and shake hands with the people I'm about to perform in front of, it was so worthwhile. It was so wholesome. It was so lovely. Yes, I'd love to do meet and greets again. What's the situation with the big yellow cheese? Yes. Calvert Island. I've seen it's become a landmark on Google Maps. I'm glad that video had such an effect on you, because it really had an effect on me. So rewarding and something I'd love to I if I could build my channel going to random things I found on Google Earth, I would be very happy. And I've got another one planned. But what is the situation with the yellow cheese? Good question. We haven't raised enough money. I think it was 20,000 Canadian dollars I was ballparked. Don't worry, if you did donate, your money is still going to a good cause. Uh the charity I'm working with gets every penny of of that donation. And they are using that money to clean up British Columbia's coast. So either way, your money has gone to coastal cleanup efforts, even if we don't get to remove the object. However, let's say a miracle happens and we do raise enough money to clean up that object. Oh my God, I'm straight back. I'm flying back to Calvert Island and we are we are going to go there and I want to be one of the people to help cut it in half. I want to see what's inside it because it's going to be crazy. We're probably going to see like identification stuff. We'll be able to find out where it came from, like be able to figure out what boat it fell off of, what it was supposed to be doing. Oh my God, there's so many mysteries we could solve. As of right now, we don't have the money, but when we do, if we do, I'm right back there. Would you do more improv stuff again? Yes. I love improv. Uh, I was in Toronto, uh earlier this month and um I went to an improv workshop with a couple of my friends. And it was really fun to get to limber that muscle up again because it is a muscle. You have to keep working at improv. I felt very inspired. It made me feel very inspired and the thing with improv comedy is is I never really felt like I'd I'd finished it. I'd concluded, you know, I did I've done a bit of improv stuff on YouTube and on Twitch. Always loved it. It's always been some of the my favorite stuff I've ever made, but I never felt like I concluded it. So yes, I would like to do improv stuff again. I have a really good idea about the how, the why, the where, the who, all that stuff. I know what I want to do, and I don't know when it will be. It might not even be next year. This might be a long-term thing, but yes, I will do more improv because I just it was so fun. I love it. Do you miss your old Minecraft fan base? Oh man. I I wish I could be really coy and really aloof and cool about that question. The my old Minecraft fan base comes up in my thoughts a lot. It doesn't come up with like this kind of longing. It wasn't always the healthiest relationship. I don't know. I I I often joke to people that I'm the first content creator to create a parasocial relationship back at my audience. I didn't make it clear enough how um you don't know me. You don't know me. You're not my friend. God, I wish someone had said that before. And I think um I think they ended up causing some issues. I really do love everything that came out of the Minecraft stuff I did. I really do. I I'm so proud of it and I'm so happy I got to do it and I'm so grateful that I got to live that life for a little bit, but it is in the past now. One positive memory I have, um it comes at the end of 2023. I was um I I bought this um piece of fan merch off of Etsy. Someone had made a Lovejoy fan shop. So I went and bought bought some stuff off of their Etsy uh just to support them. They sent me a posted note with the merch that um I still have to this day, and it said um uh, you know, just something like keep it up. You know, you're doing great. And um when I was in the hospital, I kept it by my bed. Uh and they really it really did help me a lot. So so no, I will never talk smack about my Minecraft days. I wouldn't change the fans I have right now for the world. You guys, you guys are the real ones. Thank you so much. Thank you for helping me kick off my channel this year. This year has been an absolute blast so far and we've only done like five videos. It's been an absolute pleasure singing for you. It's been an absolute pleasure just making music for you and making stupid things online, and I hope to keep doing it and give you even more. Anyway, good luck with 2026, everyone. You're going to need it.
