[0:00]Hey everybody, welcome to the fourth episode of Night Out. I'm here with my brother today, Jonathan. Hi. Um, and we're going to be talking about Wicked. And he's only allowed to sing once this entire episode because I'm not dealing with that. Don't.

[0:17]Go ahead.

[0:25]Okay. Moving on. So I have some questions for you today about both parts because I've re-seen both parts. Even though I saw Wicked for good twice and he only saw one time. Okay. First question is part one or two better? Hmm. Part one's better. Oh, finally, you have a correct opinion. Well, everyone already knew that. Everyone knows the second act's not as good as the first one. The play's been out on Broadway for like 50 years. 20. Same difference. No.

[1:00]No. It's a big difference actually. Um, no, I'm just surprised you like part one better because you love bad movies. Let's move on. Um, I also like part one better because that's when they were all happy. Um, favorite part one song? I think I know this one. The wizard and I. Oh, actually it's not Defying Gravity. Surprise. Yeah. Mine's, what is this feeling? Um, and I can literally prove it because that was actually my top most listened to song in Spotify Rap this year. So.

[1:39]I listened to it like 30 times.

[1:45]Least favorite part one song? Something bad is happening in us. Why are we doing Hugh Jackman? That's how he sounds like. He doesn't sound like Hugh Jackman. Something bad is happening in us. Why are you sound like Hugh Jackman? Let's move on.

[2:09]My favorite, least favorite part one song is the wizard song because it I was I really wanted to go to the bathroom, but defying gravity was after so I just stayed in my seat. It wasn't horrible. It just wasn't anything to write home about. It literally was awful. It just wasn't anything to write home about. It wasn't good or bad. It was just there, you know what I mean?

[2:39]Okay. What's your favorite part two song?

[2:44]Wait, I can't sing. Um, and no good deed. No good deed. No good deed. Okay. Why? Why? I really like, um, the chanting. I think that's a really good part. And the scream, the Fiero then the.

[3:19]You know? Um, mine is, thank goodness. I think you guys can guess who my favorite character is.

[3:35]I don't know why you're singing that song's good. Let's move on. No, that song is good.

[3:44]I was going to say as long as you're mine, but I hate Fiero and Alphaba. Why's that? Bro, because it's such a bunk ship. First of all, he's like with Glinda, he's like, you know, like, yeah, he's not happy, whatever, but that's on him. And then he sees Elpha by, he's like, actually, I want to run away right now. And then Glinda's like, what? Like literally like dog like actually y'all were conspiring against me because I missed Elpha too, and y'all going to go do this. Obviously, they both did her dirty. Like I don't like no, like no, I'd be mad too. Right. But Glinda isn't a good person. I don't care.

[4:29]I'm Glinda's number one defender. Okay. Okay, the next question is what is your least favorite part two song? That's very difficult.

[4:44]I'm joking. It's not difficult at all. It's the one where they're in the castle. Wonderful. That one's the worst song in part two. The worst one.

[5:03]I love that song. What is good about it? The fan I didn't see that song.

[5:13]I have not seen a single thing that you're talking about right now. And honestly, the song by itself because that's what we're ranking here, is just not a good song. It just doesn't sound good. We all know Jeff Goldbloom cannot sing to save his life, right? And so when you combine that with just bad sheet music, it's not Ariana's fault. She's trying her best to save this horrid song, okay? And so that that's the only good that says decision they made for that song is to have Ariana in it this time because she can make it just a tad bit better with her singing prowess. Um, but comparatively to Jeff Goldbloom, who cannot sing, we get this issue where Jeff Goldbloom's over here, he's not hitting a single no. He's going, wonderful. I'll be wonderful. And it makes you viscerally disgusted to hear it. Obviously, the worst part two song is every day more wicked.

[6:22]Michelle Yo can't sing. And I love her. That's my queen. I love her down, but.

[6:30]Okay. Why are you singing? That song's really bad. Bro, of course, of course you think it's good. This let me, you love trash music. You just love trash music. It's not good. No, it's not. I'm not saying it's the best song ever made. But comparatively to wonderful, wonderful, so good, it has meaning. Every day more wicked just propaganda. And then it's just like Michelle the entire time. I don't want to hear that.

[6:56]Violet. It has, that has, that has a story reason for being a song. So does wonderful. You could remove wonderful as a song and nothing would change. I'm not even kidding. You could cut that whole segment out of time, and then Alphaba would still like, would still say yes after the song, and then figure everything out and leave.

[7:23]The song adds nothing to the plot. It just adds time. And ruins your ears.

[7:34]I said it.

[7:37]Well, at least you're not hanging on girl on the bubble because I've seen a lot of girl on the bubble hate. And I'm here to defend girl on the bubble. That song is good. It's not the best song. I'm sorry. It's, I have opinions about girl on the bubble. Okay. I think what they are trying to do was very creative, but I think they could have done a little bit more with that. I don't think they did enough with their character. Glinda is a very complex character, and I just don't think they did enough with their character to justify her having that whole song by herself. It like, she needs more done with her, okay? Her whole story arc, it doesn't feel fully finished to me. There's more for her character to do in my opinion. What do you think? Um, I like how they did Glinda's thing.

[8:34]It's it just feels like she what, okay. Glinda, her whole point is being born with insane levels of privilege to the degree that she can do anything and everyone will immediately classify her as good. And at the end of the movie, that's still happening. Nothing changes based on the public's perception of her from the beginning of part one to the end of part two. She is still Glinda the good. I think that's a misstep in my opinion.

[9:19]I think Glinda the good isn't accurate. She's obviously inherently flawed, right? We all are flawed, but she's pretty flawed as a she's like a flawed person. But she sheds some of those flaws, but she still uses the Glinda the good like cover up.

[9:42]So it comes kind of off as hypocritical to me, in my opinion. This is not at all, that bad is not at all ditch to the writing because that makes sense to me. That's like, she's the popular girl, she's not going to fully change in the span of this short time. Um, so it makes sense to me that she is still Glinda the good. I'm just saying it doesn't feel like her character's finished, you know? Right, right.

[10:11]Um, I love Glinda Percy, as you can see, I have like five Glinda's. This is my new favorite Glinda. I got her as a treat to myself. This is also like my favorite Glinda outfit. I also like the other one that she wore at the beginning of the movie during everyday more wicked. But that one was $80 and I'm not buying it out. What's your favorite Glinda outfit? Oh, my favorite Glinda outfit. Honestly, it's going to it's going to be the school fit from part one. This one? No, not that one. That's the dance that's the school dance. I'm talking about the school uniform. I actually really like I actually really like that one.

[10:57]What's your favorite Alphaba fit? She did not look good in the school uniform at all. Um, and her I I think I have to go with her dance outfit there. I don't I hate her dance outfit, that's why I didn't buy it. Personally, I hate, um, Glinda's dance outfit. What?

[11:19]Wait. This one's cute.

[11:27]I I they did they tried to do something interesting with the colors, but the shape language is all weird to me. I don't like it. I don't know what I don't like about it, I just don't. And then I have this one. I also got.

[11:43]Okay, we're just pulling every Glinda. Um, this is her bubble dress. I also do like this one.

[11:51]Um, I don't know. After seeing the part two, it just feels like a little basic to me. So, I don't know. I do like her bubble, oh, and she spins. Okay. Can you get the other Glinda, the school Glinda? Glinda does. I think that's all of them. Yeah, that is all of them. So, this is the one he was talking about, which I understand. I like this one.

[12:17]Um, oh.

[12:25]And then this is her, the popular fit, which is also like the second best song from that movie. Um, popular is so good. That was also my Spotify wrapped, I think. But this fits also hard and that's all my Glinda's I have currently. And I honestly probably got more for Christmas because I did ask for a bunch of Glinda's for Christmas.

[12:52]What? It's just, do you why?

[13:02]Because I love Ariana Grande. We can tell.

[13:07]So, I've been Ariana Grande fan since I was six. We can tell. We can tell, Violet. We can tell. Don't worry.

[13:16]Um, what? In part two, Fiero's quick turn. Bro, he makes me so mad. Don't even get me started. Elaborate. Don't even give me started. Literally what I said earlier about him like just leaving Glinda and being with Alphaba and making this quick 180 switch like, whoa, let's chill out. Like he just makes me so angry. I'm sorry, but Glinda deserved it. And then he pops up looking like Ryan Reynolds Deadpool at the end. Are we dead serious? That's just a case of bad CGI. Well, not CGI. It was makeup. Bro, it's practical. Silly just looked at that and said, yeah, that's good. We can we can do that. Yes.

[14:01]Jeez. I I would say, hey, we can makeups less expensive than CGI. We can try again. But irregardless, I personally don't love the turnaround.

[14:21]I understand they're not working with too much time, but it happens super, super quickly. It's unexpected, right? Which yeah, he has been thinking about this for a while, but again, feel like you like, you could have expanded on that. Maybe we could have gotten instead of getting uh wonderful, we could have gotten a song about Fiero's inner emotions, but whatever. No. Nobody wants to hear that. Trust me. I love Jonathan Bailey, like I really do like I love Bridgeton. I've watched season two probably like 10 times and actually I'm probably going to watch season two after this. I love season two of Bridgeton. I don't play about Kate and Anthony. But Fiero, that's a demon. But he can sing. Yeah, I know he can sing. Whatever. Whatever. I'm just saying a song about Fiero's inner emotions and inner turmoil. Nobody wants to hear that. That could go. Not a single person wants to hear that. Nobody cares about Fiero.

[15:34]You might be the only person who cares about Fiero.

[15:40]Okay. Like I hate when people make this movie about Fiero and Alphaba. Guys, nobody cares about Fiero. Like literally the entire thing is about Glinda and Alphaba. Why are we why are we making? Why would a man be there? I'm afraid the movie is about Fiero and Alphaba. No, it's not. Literally, why would they have for good if it's about Fiero and Alphaba? There's like five main characters, okay? You have Fiero, Alphaba, Glinda, Madama Morble, MM, flip it around. Wicked Witch, and Nessa Rose and Bak, I guess, I guess. We deserve each other. And Glinda helped it come true. We deserve each other. Me and Bak. Please Alphaba, try to understand. I do. So anyways, um, but like those are the main characters, Violet.

[16:43]I'm afraid the main, main character is Glinda, Fiero and Alphaba. Yeah, and Fiero has more screen time in part two. Not than Glinda. He has more screen time. Yeah, but he doesn't have more screen time than Glinda. In part two, I think so. No, he doesn't. I think so. No, he doesn't.

[17:08]No. This is for good slander. This is not for good slander. I'm just saying the truth. That's like maybe the best song. What? For good.

[17:23]I mean, it's not better than, um, no good deed.

[18:03]I'm trying to harmonize with you when you're off key. Actually I heard another one that's off key. You don't start with me, Luke. I'm trying to harmonize with you. I'm trying to match your stuff so I can harmonize. Whatever. Whatever. Oh, you make me so mad. I don't know why I decide to do this with you. Cuz you love me. No, I don't. Okay.

[18:25]Um, okay. Do you have any more questions?

[18:30]What's your favorite character?

[18:37]Hmm.

[18:45]Alphaba. Okay. Why? She has the most screen time and as such is the most in-depth character with the most like fleshed out emotions. You understand why she does everything and all of her attempts to be good are all failing and how that affects her.

[19:07]You understand her motivations when presented with Fiero, when presented with Glinda, when presented with the wizard. You understand everything. I think that's a really good character right there. What about you? Guys, I swear I don't hate Alphaba. I'm just Ariana Grande Stan. What can I say? Obviously, my favorite is Glinda. Um, I think that's obvious. We know. We know. I'm afraid we can tell. Um, and I feel bad for Glinda because at the end of the movie, she's literally all by herself and has to rule Oz. Like, I don't know. I'm afraid she deserves it.

[19:48]And then bomb Fiero's like, nobody can know that we're here, Alphaba. Bro, like that's her twin. Like, I'm afraid that is her karmic punishment. Like, I'm afraid that's what she gets.

[20:09]No good deed goes unpunished, okay? That's the whole message. No good deed goes unpunished. She all for efforts to do good, her good intentions, led where such roads always lead as she says. But she came in with not good intentions. She came in with her own selfishness and look where that got her, right? That got her to the highest position in all of us. It's it's a it's it's all about how it doesn't matter your intentions when you go to do it matters your intentions when you go to do something. If you try to be good, you could fail and be deemed as wicked. Okay.

[21:03]Who's your least favorite character? Nessa Rose. Oh. What? I said it. He's my least favorite character. I hate her. Well, I hate Nessa, but I mean, I understand why she is the way that she is.

[21:24]She has no excuse to be the way she is, honestly. In my opinion, she's a grown adult. She should have understood that, hey, maybe I shouldn't do discriminatory laws to keep my uh, to keep this person I like near my proximity. Maybe I shouldn't do that. That's inherently not a good thing that she chose to do on her own accord. I think it's crazy that she did that all over Bach, though. My least favorite character, Madame Orble, MM, flip it around, Wicked Witch. Because Glinda goes, use her sister, you could use her sister. And mom Orble's actually, I'm going to make a tornado. Huh? Literally when did Glinda ever say anything like that? She just said start a rumor per chance. And you go, oh yeah, let me make a tornado. And don't even get me started how she'd be beefing with Glinda. Oh, no. Well, before Glinda's mini character arc, Glinda would have been fine with that in my opinion. Like if this was part one Glinda, I think Glinda would have been fine with killing Alphaba's sister if she could like, if she could just like get away from it in her head. If she could do something like in her head where she's like, that wasn't my fault. I can say that it wasn't my fault. And then she can like just forget about, she could just forget it ever happened. She could able to be right at, she would able to be like right it off in her head. But in part two, she's under gone a character arc and which she's like, I need to start taking accountability for things.

[23:06]And that's why she gets mad at what Madame Morble did. It's okay.

[23:25]My favorite scene from part two is when Bach is like the Tin Man and they're doing the march of the witch hunters, which is also another one of my favorite songs from part two. And he looks at Glinda, oh, he looks so evil. I was like, oh my god. Mind you, I hate Bak and I hate Ethan Slater, so I didn't know he did all of that. I have a personal score to set her with Alphaba. Shoot her. I made him tin. He made this to her. And for once, I'm glad, I'm heartless. I'll be heartless killing her. I hate that scene. Of course you do.

[26:48]My favorite scene from part one is at the Oz Dust when Glinda and Alphaba do their little dance.

[26:59]I think that was a really in-depth character moment. It Glinda didn't change all that much by that dance, but she did change her thought process. I get it. You know what I'm trying to say? She changed in a fundamental way that didn't equate to actions immediately. Instead, down the line in wicked part two, some of that stuff starts to come back up. And it's like, okay, hold up. Wait, you know? What's your favorite moment from part two? Hmm. Don't say your song. You already said. I wasn't going to. Are we sure? I wasn't going to. I wasn't going to.

[27:45]Go ahead. I'm thinking. It takes you that long to think. It do. It do. It do. I'm not playing. Okay. I'm not playing with him. He looks so ugly.

[28:46]I have a personal score to settle with Alphaba.
