[0:00]In part one, I would like to ask you some personal questions. Let's talk about travel and transportation. Do you enjoy traveling? Yeah, I'd say I enjoy traveling. Um, me and my girlfriend, my girlfriend's also from another country, so we like to go back home, you know, travel, go see people, family members, friends. Um, I also like traveling to different places too, checking on new scenery, just new places. What is your preferred mode of transportation? I at first was a little skeptical about planes flying. I was a little scared to go up in the air. I'm kind of afraid of heights. But after being on a plane so many times to come to Canada and then going with my girlfriend, my significant other to her country, also back home to my country, I've kind of started to enjoy the flying and I think probably flying would be my favorite. Have you ever faced any problems while traveling? Um, nothing too serious. I've had small discrepancies here like just lost luggage, um, once my daughter was stung by a jellyfish in Costa Rica. Just nothing crazy out of the ordinary, but just small, small stuff here and there. Now let's talk about technology and communication. How often do you use technology to communicate? Oh, I'd say every single day, multiple times a day. Um, I'm always more or less if I'm not doing regular stuff, I'm usually on my phone talking to friends, family members. Yeah.
[1:37]What do you think modern technology has improved the way we communicate? Um, oh yeah, definitely has. Just being able to, I can call anyone that's in my phone right now, just from sitting here anywhere around the world. Um, even just Facebook, Instagram Messenger, there's just so many different ways that you can contact someone in a matter of seconds, milliseconds. So I'd say it's definitely changed and increased. And do you prefer talking on talking on the phone or talking on text? Um, I would say texting is easier, but if I were to try and tell someone something serious or something like that, I'd probably call because you can definitely you can't really get your point across when you're texting. They can't feel your emotions or how you're saying it. They could take it the wrong way, so maybe calling. Now let's talk about weather. What type of weather do you usually enjoy the most? I would definitely say, uh, the summer, so like sunny, warm. Um, I did move to Canada, so I do have to deal with winters every once in a while, but I would say it's not too bad because there's still stuff to do in the winters, but I would most mostly say summer. Has the climate changed recently over the years from your country? Um, it's kind of changed here and there, but it's more or less the same. Every winter can be a little warmer, a little colder, just like summer. They can always be a little colder, a little warmer, but more or less it's pretty much the same. Do you think people's moods are affected by the weather? Definitely, most definitely. Yeah, summer, everyone's more happy. You're excited to leave your house, hang out in your backyard, you know, go out. Winter, you're a little more stuck inside, so you're a little more groggy, maybe moody, maybe. But in Canada, I noticed some people are still happy in the winter, but more or less I think it does affect us, yeah, for sure. That concludes part one. We'll now be moving to part two. Thank you.
[3:47]I'm now going to give you a topic, I'd like to talk to you about for two minutes. Before you talk, you'll have one minute to think about what you're going to say. You can take notes if you wish. Do you understand? Yes. Okay.
[4:00]I'll give you some paper and pencil here. You will have exactly one minute to drop down some notes. Okay. Thank you.
[5:03]Okay. You may now begin speaking. Okay, so, um, adapting, I would say it was a little hard at first when I first came to Canada to adapt to say my surroundings, the people were hard to talk to because language barrier. Even just things like listening to music, you know, I I didn't know what they were saying. More or less like I could listen to the song, but what people were saying, um, meeting new people was really hard. But as my, uh, language, like speaking became better, I was able to meet people, make friends, uh, find work. Work, work wasn't too hard to find once I was able to speak better. So I'd say it was a little harder at first to adapt, but now it's been getting a lot easier, especially because with adapting it's kind of you have to adapt, right? It's more or less it's either you adapt and move forward or you don't adapt and you stay behind. So I'd say it's gotten easier over the years, definitely. The meeting people was always hard for me, but like I said, making friends, um, relationships and everything, it's gotten better over the years. But adapting you have to adapt, right? When you go to a new country, it's definitely something that you need to you need to do. Okay. Thank you. That concludes your two minutes. Part two is over. We'll now move to part three. Okay. Thank you.
[6:47]We've been talking about adapting to new situations, and now I'd like to ask you some more related questions. Do you think people today are better adapting to changes than in their past? Um, people today better at adapting to changes than in the past. I actually, I don't think people are better at adapting than people in the past, because today there's so many different styles, so many different groups and different ways that people are then compared to like say the past. Everyone was kind of doing the same thing, you know, everybody kind of was in the same line doing men would go to work, women, you know, everything was kind of the same thing. So you didn't really have to adapt too much to different things. So I'd say no, definitely not. And what are some common challenges people face when moving to a new country? Uh, meeting new people, finding work. It's it's hard when your language isn't the same. So I'd say it can be difficult, but to people moving to new countries, it's always good to have an open mind. You know. How important is adaptability in the workplace? Oh, very important, especially in the work that I do. Um, I work in shops with cars, automobiles, so every shop has a different way to get things done or a different style. So you kind of have to adapt to everybody else's style to make sure there's no headaches or, you know. Do you think technology makes it easier or harder for people to adapt? Um, I would say it can be easier to adapt because it helps us communicate to each other better, but it can also keep us hidden from the from a way to adapt because you can kind of be stuck into your own circle with your own, you know, your own reels and your own feed. It's it's all based off of you, so you don't really get to broaden yourself or adapt to new situations, right? And how can schools prepare to be more adaptable in life? Um, schools to be more adaptable in life. I would say they could broaden their education a bit more in a different people. Um, make it a little bit more welcoming for people to want to learn or adapt to a new situation or a new preference you could say. Um, there's many ways that the school could go about it, but you know, I feel just as easy as teaching, just teaching you how to be more confident, right? Okay. Thank you. That concludes part three.
