The manager arrived, calm and professional. Good evening, how can I help you tonight? The wife pointed directly at the waitress. Why is your staff wearing headphones? Is she listening to music while serving us? This is a five-star restaurant and we're paying for perfection. Fire her. Gasps filled the room. The manager frowned. Our staff are not allowed to wear headphones. If anyone's breaking the rules, I'll take care of it immediately. The wife smirked. It's her, right there! But the manager looked straight at her and said, no, the problem isn't her. The problem is you. The wife froze. Excuse me? he continued. She's not wearing headphones. That's a hearing aid. She's partially deaf, and yet she gives better service than most people ever could. Your behavior is unacceptable. Please leave and don't come back. Her face flushed red. She stood up, fuming. This is outrageous! I'll complain to the owner. My husband knows him very well. You'll regret this! All eyes turned to the husband. He calmly set his fork down, stood up, and looked at her.
