[0:00]You know how at 2 a.m., you have the urge to get your life together. You make plans, write to-do lists, and set 10 alarms.
[0:06]You think that I'm going to wake up early and absolutely crush it tomorrow. And then the morning hits and the drive is gone.
[0:13]Here's what's happening, at night your brain is not doing the hard things. It's just imagining, dreaming.
[0:19]And your brain loves to visualize success. It makes you feel good without actually doing the work.
[0:24]This is called mental contrasting. The brain sees a gap between where you are and where you want to be and gets excited about closing it.
[0:31]But that excitement doesn't last, because in the morning your brain isn't dreaming, it's operating.
[0:37]You wake up on low willpower, because your brain has already used up energy on decisions, resisting impulses, or even just waking up.
[0:43]Now that ambitious list from the last night start to feel very heavy. Just not worth it. But you can change this.
[0:49]When you plan, don't just dream. Make a very small five minute routine or habit that you can follow for it.
[0:55]And make it so small and so easy to do that you don't feel like it's a burden and you don't give up.
