[0:00]Welcome to Usability Testing. Today you'll be introduced to what usability testing is and how it can make your website or application better. You'll learn how it helps to balance your vision and the client's expectations for a project, with what the user actually wants to use. What is usability testing? As a user experience designer, you create usable, desirable, findable, accessible, and credible applications and experiences. During your development, ask yourself these questions. Is my task quick and easy to learn? Is my task efficient to use? Does my task allow for rapid recovery from errors? Is my task easy to remember? Once you've asked yourself the questions, how do you find the answers? By doing frequent usability testing on every new project, application, and website. How do you do usability testing? Usability testing asks users to complete specific tasks. For instance, they may need to add products to an online shopping cart and complete the checkout process. In-person testing is preferable, because it allows you to ask the facilitator questions to gather additional information about the user's experiences. While remote testing can be done, it doesn't allow for additional interactions.

[1:34]Why do you do usability testing? Usability testing results show what really matters to your user. If users aren't able to complete the tasks, if they require assistance, or if they take too much time, you're immediately alerted to these potential problems. Usability testing demonstrates how user-friendly a website is, what the user's experience with the site is, and where their frustrations lie. By identifying problems early on, you reduce your costs to fix the issues. This feedback leads to better products, increased customer satisfaction, as well as lower training and support costs. Usability testing is invaluable to good user experience design. Giving users the opportunity to test your website or application dramatically improves its performance and reduces your cost and stress in the long run. You have completed Usability Testing.
