[0:00]A quick video to walk through how to set up two-factor authentication, also known as multi-factor authentication, on your TikTok account. This is a good idea to do to protect your account from getting hacked, and it's pretty easy to do so. To get started, we're going to open the TikTok app. Once we have the app open, we're going to head to our profile page by selecting the profile icon on the bottom right-hand side of the screen. From your profile page, you want to open the settings and privacy page. You do this by selecting the three horizontal lines on the top right-hand side of the screen. Once you do that, a pop-up menu will appear, and at the bottom of that menu, you'll see settings and privacy. Select that. Once you're on the settings and privacy page, we're going to head to the security section. So just under account, you'll see security. Go ahead and select that. Now that we're on the security page, you'll see toward the top a tab that says two-step verification. Go ahead and select that. Before we go any further, just a quick rundown of what two-step verification or two-factor authentication is. Basically, it means that even if someone has your password, they can't log into your account unless they have a code that's sent to your email or phone. So it's an added layer of security. To turn it on, we're going to select at least two of the methods below. So that's why it's called two-step verification or two-factor authentication. So you can either select email and then a password, or a phone number and a password, or you can do email and a phone number. For this example, I'm going to choose email and phone number. Once I select those, I'll then select the turn on button at the bottom of the screen. Once you do that, TikTok will then send a verification code to your email and the phone number that's associated with your account. Once you enter both of those, you'll then be asked to verify them, and then your two-step verification will be turned on. If you don't have an email or a phone number associated with your account, TikTok will ask you to add those first, and then you'll follow the same steps. And that's how to turn on two-step verification on your TikTok account.
