[0:07]Hey guys, welcome back to my channel. So today we're in Korea and we're going to be visiting the most popular cafes in Seoul. So Seoul is known for having a bunch of popular cafes. They're really cute, really pretty, the experience is nice overall.
[0:18]But is it actually good, or is it just social media hype? Some of these lines can get 40 minutes long and it's like, is it that good a 40-minute wait for a croissant?
[0:28]I feel like a lot of cafes and bakeries in general have so many nice pastries and nice foods, but it tastes like shit. So we're going to be testing out to see if it's just for the aesthetics or if it actually tastes good. Let's go to our first location.
[0:42]We're at our first location, Onion, Cafe Onion, Onion Cafe. We don't know what it's called but it says Onion. The line is already super long. It's 9:00 AM.
[0:51]It's 9:00 AM and it looks like there's literally 40 people out there. Or maybe 100.
[0:56]There might be 100 people here. Wow. This better be good.
[1:02]So we're waiting in line for the Onion Cafe. This is the TikTok video. They're known for their pastries, so we're going to see if these pastries are actually good or just pretty.
[1:10]So we're at the front and it's been 21 minutes now. The wait wasn't that long. People said it was 40 minutes, like an hour.
[1:15]We actually came at a good time because the line is literally reaching the gate now.
[1:19]But we're next in line. I'm excited to try the food and yeah.
[1:27]My initial thoughts, it actually is really pretty. I like the vibes. I can smell the pastries. It smells so good.
[1:36]So it's kind of like a self-serve situation. Getting our trays.
[1:39]Oh, there's a child. A child literally crawled under us. So far we have our desserts.
[1:48]There's also this croissant called a very berry croissant. It's looks so good.
[1:53]There's also two of these ones and I'm seeing everyone have it, so I'm going to go get one.
[1:57]We were looking at the drink menu and it says handmade coke.
[2:01]I want to try that. That is sus.
[2:04]That's why are we hand-making coke? I didn't know you can hand-make that.
[2:18]I'm curious to see what this Dubai one tastes like because it says it's hazelnut. I thought it's supposed to be pistachio.
[2:24]Mmm.
[2:28]Oh, very coco-y.
[2:31]A good coco-y or a bad coco-y? Bad.
[2:37]It looks like you ate ass. It's good though, the middle. The ass? No! This looks so good. I'm also going to try it.
[2:47]It's good, right? But like the outside part is very bitter.
[2:50]That is coco-y. Oh my gosh, my fingers looks like I just poopy. Oh my gosh, I just pooped all over my jacket.
[2:56]Also, we just got our handmade coke. I got a vanilla bean latte. I swear I feel like I've betrayed matcha because I kinda prefer the matcha Cafe here.
[3:04]It smells like a Coca-Cola. It does. Cheers. Smells like churros but it's like different.
[3:09]It literally tastes like a Coca-Cola.
[3:13]That tastes like Haribo lollies. Yeah. I wasn't expecting anything like cola flavor. It said handmade code. Handmade code.
[3:22]And this is just a regular vanilla bean latte. Very vanilla-y.
[3:26]Okay, I'm really want to try this sugar mountain thingy because everyone has it.
[3:29]Is it actually just sugar? Oh my gosh, it's just sugar. And you ate it from the top.
[3:33]Bro. That's a test. That's actually sugar.
[3:36]That's actually sugar. Is there anything inside, or is it just straight up?
[3:42]It's literally We're cutting sugar. When your doctor tells you to cut down on sugar. That's just sugar. Oh my gosh. That's what Mount Everest looks like, guys.
[3:52]Crickets. I just got sugar. I didn't get anything else.
[4:10]When you bite into the caramel, it's fine, but the entire dessert is a bit off.
[4:14]So I don't even want to rate that. But I'm hoping that this is good.
[4:21]Is that one better? That one's really good actually. That one's better. You can taste all of the ingredients.
[4:26]The croissant is super fluffy, and I really like the cream and the fruits on it. We're just like munching and finishing up because everything else was so dooky.
[4:33]Next I'm going to try the strawberry pastry. Right now it's giving hard.
[4:38]I love the strawberry and the cream, but the pastry I'm not a fan of. It's crumbling.
[4:43]It's really crumbly. The problem is it doesn't taste like anything. At least they have good strawberries.
[4:49]I have to try this one on my own because he's allergic to nuts. Anyway, he's allergic to this type of nuts.
[4:54]What is that supposed to mean? These type of nuts?
[4:59]Finally good things. Wait. They're both good? Okay. Maybe we just started off with the weirdest things, guys.
[5:07]So the cute ones don't taste good. Don't get the cute ones. Get the ugly-ish looking ones.
[5:12]Why is it It's white at the tip. The final verdict is it's overhyped.
[5:17]I don't like it. I like some things in it, and I do love the ambiance and aesthetic and vibe of the cafe, but I'm here to judge the food.
[5:24]Yeah, I was here for the food. This is definitely more of an aesthetic place. It is really nice. The pastries were really pretty, but for Instagram.
[5:31]For me, honestly, it's a type of cafe where if I lived here, I would just go for the drink and vibe with a friend, and sit here and talk for hours because it is cute here.
[5:40]But if I was actually hungry, which I was. Yeah. I would give it a zero. Okay, not a zero. That's a bit mean.
[5:47]Food gets a 3, a 4. The food overall gets a 4 out of 10 for me, but the ambiance, I'd give it an 8.
[5:56]Food is a 3. Overall vibe, overall cafe in general, including the food, I would give it a 6.
[6:05]Anything with strawberries I really liked. I feel like that's where they shined. How about you?
[6:08]I did really like the strawberry croissant. It's not that I didn't like the other strawberry pastry, it's just I could only taste strawberry. Should we check out the next location?
[6:15]Let's go check out the next location. It's actually like a 10-minute walk from here. Walk around the towns and everything.
[6:24]Okay, so we're at our next location. It's called London Bagel Museum, even though we're in Korea. This line is actually very long, so I'm guessing it's popular too. I'm not sure if there's indoor seating. Everyone seems to be sitting outside, unless that is the wait time.
[6:37]So we logged in to wait for the line. We're 95th in line. This is definitely longer than the Onion Cafe. That's crazy.
[6:47]Okay, so that'll be like 4 hours. That's going to be 5 hours. We're going to be walking around, but we have to try this. We'll see if it's really worth the wait or not.
[6:56]So it's officially been 2 hours and we're still like 11th in line. Even if the food's good, it is not worth the 2-hour wait. Come on, I haven't even tried the food yet. I don't even know what the food looks like, but I know it is not worth 2 hours.
[7:08]A sandwich for 2 hours. I can go to Joe and the Juice.
[7:35]So we're trying the ham and cheese. Yeah, we're trying the ham and cheese bagel. I think there's an official name for it, but it literally is just ham and cheese.
[7:44]This is sesame seed galore. Look at how thick this is. It looks like butter. There's no way that's butter.
[7:53]It's butter. You're joking. So we waited 2 hours for butter.
[7:58]Cheers.
[8:06]Yum. It's all right, but I've made sandwiches better with my eyes closed.
[8:10]I feel like I'm eating butter. The butter doesn't really add much to it. The sauce in there, I want to say it's like a creamy base. It's not worth 2 hours. The sesame bun is a bit too much sesame, so it has a weird texture, and then ham is just like literally I don't know.
[8:21]There's no way you wait 2 hours for this. We're taking into account all of the aspects here guys. Like
[8:28]There's no way like 2 hours. Let me wait 2 hours for this. Unless there's like a hero product that people come here for. Okay, but this, come on now.
[8:35]This is the cheese and honey bagel. This one is pretty. And it looks like it actually tastes good.
[8:41]This one says it's best-seller. So if this isn't worth 2 hours.
[8:46]This is way better. It's good, but not 2 hours good. I'd say 20 minutes good. I don't know, it's not It's still not life-changing, but I am hungry from waiting for 2 hours.
[8:54]I like how there's a mix of a creamy cheese, and then actual real cheese on top. I think that's good. This is the best thing so far.
[9:00]And lastly we have the truffle bagel. Let's see what's inside. Oh, it's truffle butter.
[9:05]But like They literally said here, take it.
[9:15]Wait, is this place a social experiment? How can we wait 2 hours for like a little constipated, little fart of butter?
[9:20]Guys, I'm actually very confused. What am I eating? I waited 2 hours for this.
[9:30]So I'm going to rate this place. I will say they are solid bagels. That's That's the thing they are solid. It's just that I don't see why this is so hyped up to the point where it takes 2 hours to line up, and there's like 1000 people outside, and I feel bad for all of them waiting there.
[9:46]I think it is a cute cafe. It's just that the 2 hours really rallied you up. Yeah.
[9:50]Generally speaking, if you go here, no line. As a cafe in Seoul, it's good. 2 hours? Girl. Why are we waiting 2 hours?
[9:57]I rate this cafe a 5. I rate this a 4. Honestly, this was pretty good, though, but not worth 2 hours. We'll see you at the next place. Hopefully, it's actually a short or no line.
[10:09]We are now at our third location. This one is called Nakwon. It is known for its train aesthetic. The desserts here could be a hit or miss. We actually don't know.
[10:17]There's a little bit of a queue right now. We have to wait for the train to come.
[10:21]Oh my gosh, she might get run over. Prank. The train is never going to come. The train's never going to come.
[10:29]Because there's none. We made it out. Look, it goes to nowhere.
[10:40]We got our food and the food is so cute. Look, it even came with a ticket, a boarding pass. That is so adorable.
[10:46]It really plays into this train thing. And it's stamped too. I wonder if it's actually a free ticket to somewhere.
[10:50]You know why I'm here. This is an iced Earl Grey tea. Mmm, tastes like iced Earl Grey tea. It's so good.
[10:58]This looks really good. I don't know what type of dessert it is because it literally said Desserts Green Grass.
[11:04]Cheers. That's so yummy. But I actually like this place. There's no line, got our food straight away. LOL. Cute train vibe. Pretty and tasty desserts. They're so yummy. I love a pretty dessert that also tastes pretty. This has flavor unlike the Onion Cafe.
[11:18]The cream is so fluffy, and the matcha paste, or what is this? The matcha cream as well, it's very thick and dense, so it's like a good contrast of it. So when you mix it together, it's like a matcha cloud.
[11:27]Yeah, it's so good. I'd give it an 8 out of 10. Yeah, I'd give it an 8 out of 10. I think this is pretty good and also like I would come back here. I would come here for the vibes to work.
[11:35]And I'm actually surprised it's not busy, or maybe we just came at a time where no one wants to really eat cakes.
[11:41]So our next location is actually really close. It's like right by here. That's actually known for its really good desserts, so let's see if it's better than this one.
[11:48]So we are at our next location which is called the Chongsu Dong Bakery. This one allegedly has the best desserts. These are their desserts. I kind of want to try the matcha Mont Blanc.
[11:57]Or the fully topped strawberry fromage cake. This is also the original Soufflé Castella. It says this one's the best. So we'll probably actually get this one and the matcha fromage cake.
[12:17]I got a tangerine hot tea. And this is a matcha cream latte. The presentation is so cute. It's got two little This definitely looks very fresh. I feel like they literally put tangerine juice and water.
[12:28]They just squeezed it like 2 seconds ago. Cheers. I can't even drink this. Okay, so I just drank milk. Yum. Oh my gosh, yum. I think this is the best yogurt I've ever tasted.
[12:40]It tastes like ice cream. I can't see any green in that actually. It is good, but on the sweeter side. It's definitely more of a dessert since I got a cream latte. They also do sell regular matcha lattes here, because it does taste like a condensed milk type of sweet, which I really love. It's just not as matcha-y as I'd like it to be.
[12:54]This just tastes very sweet and citrusy. It's like if tangerine juice was a tea. It's so good. And I love pulp. Do you like pulp? Yes, I do. I love the pulp because it makes it Now how I feel about hot orange juice. That's just a bit random. Yeah, but it's opinions based. Like some people have more popular opinions than others.
[13:14]So we have the strawberry fromage cake and the matcha fromage cake. I got the strawberry one, you got the matcha one. Let's try it. Cheers. That's so good. That is so refreshing, and it's super light. It kind of reminds me of a cheesecake. This is one of the best places for desserts for a reason. I really like it.
[13:30]And I like how it's not super, super sweet. It's a perfect balance between creamy, fruity, and the cake is very soft and spongy. I love it. Okay, time for the matcha one.
[13:39]Is this cake? Oh, it looks like a rock. Whoa. This is so green. No, you have to try that. That tastes green.
[13:47]See? No, I have maybe it's this. This one tastes roasted maybe. It's amazing. I really love when matcha desserts actually taste like matcha, because sometimes when you have matcha desserts, it literally just gives vanilla with green food coloring, but this is super, super earthy. I love it so much. I think I like your matcha one better. Strawberry one is also good. It's still really good. It was a good start still, but the matcha one clears.
[14:07]Okay, so overall I give this place an 8 out of 10. I really like this. The entire vibe is pretty cute. Lighting's good. Food looked good and actually tasted good.
[14:16]I'm glad that the food actually tasted good because it matches the aesthetic of the cafe. I give this overall place a 9 out of 10. I think the only thing where it misses points is I wanted the matcha to taste better. Oh. Other than that, like everything else was really good. Maybe the pricing is where it also loses that point because it is on the higher end.
[14:40]Let's go to the next location. We are at our last location. This is called Cafe Popco? No, pokpo. Pokpo. Everything, popcorn. Oh my gosh. You're actually joking. It's a real waterfall. I definitely love the scenery here. I already like this cafe. The vibes. Oh. Oh.
[15:06]But the real question is, does the waterfall taste good? We're going to go inside and see what food they have, but I already like the atmosphere of this. I wonder if like you're allowed You're definitely not allowed to swim in this. I just saw that. I don't know why. Don't ask questions. But it reminds me of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the chocolate river.
[15:26]The vibes in here are cute. Let's see what type of food they have. Guessing like this is their mascot. Look at how thick these are. Skinny mini. I definitely wouldn't come here for the food because obviously they didn't have that many options, but I do feel like this is a good touristy area and the view is so nice.
[17:01]Imagine just chilling here after a long day of whatever. Final cafe rating, I'd give it a 7 out of 10. I like it. I obviously again wouldn't come here for the food. I already knew I came here for the waterfall, for the view. I wasn't expecting too much on the food. Also, there's no line, so you don't have to wait for anything.
[17:17]And that's it for trying the most popular cafes in South Korea. Thank you guys so much for watching.
