[0:08]Jesus, I swear, I feel like we just finished talking about Requiem and that hype died down for that and now we're already jumping into another hype train. Although, I gotta admit, I'm kinda more excited about this game than I was for Requiem.

[0:19]For those that didn't see my rankings of the entire franchise, I low-key had the original Code Veronica ranked higher than most people with it being my fourth favorite game out of the entire series.

[0:27]Anyways, with the new Resident Evil game around the corner and new trailers releasing over the next year or so, it's time to once again deep dive into each and every single trailer that releases and give you every small and big Easter egg or hidden detail that you missed in the Resident Evil Veronica trailers.

[0:41]Starting with the reveal trailer, of course. Before that though, don't forget to subscribe for more updates on Resident Evil Veronica and hit that like button if you enjoyed today's topic.

[0:49]Also, if you want to support the channel, consider picking up some G-fuel using the code Nerdspacegames, no spaces, or the link in the description down below. But with that out of the way, let's jump straight into it.

[0:58]Now there is some information to break down outside of the trailer as well, but first we'll take a look at the trailer itself. At the very start of the trailer, you immediately get your first clue that this is a Resident Evil game.

[1:04]In the top left hand corner in the streets of Paris, yes, we know this is Paris because of multiple things that confirm this is Paris later in the trailer, you see a tall building with the Umbrella logo on it.

[1:17]As a massive fan of the original game, I'll be making a lot of comparisons to that game, trying to identify exactly what's happening in each of these scenes, so if you haven't played the original game, minor and sometimes major spoilers in today's video.

[1:28]Anyway, this building kinda reminds me of the opening sequence of Resident Evil Code Veronica in which we see Claire running through a building owned by Umbrella while being chased by guards and even a chopper.

[1:38]I'm guessing this is where that scene takes place. Speaking of Umbrella's influence over Paris, the very next scene is another nod to the giant evil corporation itself.

[1:45]Yeah, this cafe right here is interesting as it translates to Umbrella's Cafe. And if the name wasn't enough to give it away, I'm sure the red and white color scheme adds a little more to that.

[1:54]Between the massive building in the middle of Paris and the fact that this cafe is named after Umbrella, clearly they have a massive influence over this iconic city.

[2:01]Also in this clip, we see Claire driving up in her car with a license plate number that reads 1126 SP 75. Now, because of the Easter egg with Leon's license plate in Resident Evil Requiem, I try my best to connect this number to something in relation to Resident Evil lore, but honestly, the only thing I came up with is kinda stretching things a bit.

[2:19]So, here it is. 1126 is a code used in the original game that was located on a painting called Skeleton Picture, aka SP.

[2:26]However, I'm not sure where that 75 comes from, if that's indeed what this is an Easter egg for. I think Claire Redfield was born in 1975, so maybe you have the Skeleton Picture combined with her birthday.

[2:37]I know, kind of a stretch, but hey, that's kind of what makes this a lot of fun. Next scene, we find Claire looking at a map with an address on it that according to Google Translate reads 12 Chestnut Tree Cul-de-sac or Chestnut Tree Dead End.

[2:48]Don't think there's anything of note with this here, so moving on. After approaching the building, an old woman opens a door and I have a few thoughts on her. But first off, is it just me or does this damn floor remind me of Road Hill?

[2:59]Honestly, for me, and actually some of the other creators that saw this scene with me for the first time, we all immediately thought it was a DLC expansion for Resident Evil Requiem because of that damn floor.

[3:07]Anyway, after answering the door, clearly Capcom hit the dialogue from Claire to keep the reveal a secret until the very end of the teaser because this woman was basically having a conversation with herself.

[3:16]However, now that we know this is a Code Veronica remake, there's a few things to note when going back over the trailer.

[3:22]First off, the woman mentions that Claire called about a man on the third floor that is her brother.

[3:27]Looking back at the original game, the reason why Claire snuck into Umbrella Research Facility is because she was looking for information about the whereabouts of her brother. This is what ultimately leads to her being captured by Umbrella and sent to Rockford Island.

[3:39]On the newly made website for Resident Evil Veronica, we can confirm that this storyline will be roughly the same premise.

[3:43]So yeah, obviously Chris is staying in this building while investigating Umbrella in Paris. Now, going back to this store, obviously, Chris isn't going by his real name, which makes sense considering Umbrella is keeping a close eye on him.

[3:53]As for what name he is going by, my money's on Carson, only because that's really the only American name I can make out on the panel. As for what this is a reference to, I mean, I think there's an RPD officer in Resident Evil 2 named Carson, but honestly, I think it's just an easy fake name that Chris came up with, nothing special.

[4:09]Next we enter Chris's room, and man, is this place loaded with small little nuggets. The first thing I noticed when the lights came on was a green herb on the windowsill.

[4:17]Moving around a bit, you see a green shirt on the couch, which if you know the color rule with Resident Evil, you probably know why that is an Easter egg for our boy Chris.

[4:24]We also see some case files, photos, a camera, and some sort of ID badge. Yeah, clearly our boy Chris is undercover right now, collecting any evidence he can to bring Umbrella down once and for all.

[4:35]There's also a walkie-talkie on the table as well, which means he's contacting someone while he's in Paris. My guess, I think he's talking to Jill Valentine.

[4:42]In some files in other games, uh we do know that after Jill spent some time with Barry Burton following the events of the Raccoon City outbreak, she eventually reunites with Chris and Europe to aid him in his investigation to bring Umbrella down.

[4:53]We didn't really see that play out at all in Code Veronica, the original game that is, but perhaps we'll get a small Easter egg of Chris and Jill communicating over the radio at some point in the game.

[5:02]There's also some drugs on the coffee table, clearly showcasing the trauma Chris is facing with the Spencer Mansion incident, and a pack of cigarettes saying vigil.

[5:10]Now, this is a massive reach, and I kinda hope that JJ or someone over at Resident Evil or Moonland can confirm this or not, but I remember there was an original RE game in development called Vigil, and considering that Resident Evil is arguably the most recognizable Resident Evil content creators of all time, maybe Capcom is giving them a little nod here.

[5:30]Again, as you know, I like to stretch things, and I do think this is kinda a stretch. We also see a lighter, and considering the fact that Chris is known to always have a lighter on him in just about every single Resident Evil game he appears in, I love the nice little touch here with that.

[5:42]Speaking of which, I just don't think this is the same lighter that Claire starts out with in Code Veronica and we should see that one that her brother gave her later, but who knows, maybe Capcom will change the design of that lighter and this is actually the lighter that Claire ends up with, which means she just finds it in his room.

[5:55]Oh, side note, look at our boy's working hard, like working out hard, I mean. Literally, look at the dumbbell. The thing is massive, and I guess we know how he eventually punches a boulder a few years later following this game, don't we?

[6:06]Speaking of Boulder, the old lady here gives us a certain Boulder punching Easter egg after entering the room.

[6:12]It's like a boulder rolled through here.

[6:15]Huh? Yeah, I'm always a big fan of Capcom referencing the boulder punching meme of Chris Redfield in Resident Evil 5 in their games, not gonna lie, it's pretty cool.

[6:23]Oh, and on the note of Chris punching a boulder, if you're wanting to support the channel, I do have some merch inspired by Resident Evil and ironically, the only design I have right now that's available at this second is inspired by that exact boulder punching meme itself, created by the very talented Demented Artworks.

[6:38]Link is in the description down below if you want to pick up a shirt or a sweater or whatever to support the channel.

[6:42]Anyway, back to the video, when the old lady bends down, you can kinda see Chris's backpack, and there's a label that kinda reads stars on the front.

[6:50]Um, but after the old lady steals our brother's food, which is kind of rude, she's called away by the buzzer, which, by the way, let's talk about this creepy lady for a second.

[6:58]First off, she's way too comfortable in Chris's room for a simple landlady or whatever she is. Secondly, I have a theory, clearly Umbrella has a major influence over Paris, and I think that translates over to the businesses around the city, including this one.

[7:12]I think she's responsible for luring Claire to this apartment or hotel for Umbrella, despite knowing that Chris is not around anymore and she essentially set up a trap for Claire, which eventually brings us to another scene in the trailer.

[7:23]But yeah, I just wanted to throw that theory out there. Sorry, I just don't trust creepy old women in horror games, it just never ends well for us when we do, you know?

[7:31]Anyway, after the lady finally leaves, Claire reaches for the burned business card in the ashtray.

[7:36]First off, in this image here, we see the sleeve of her jacket, pretty much confirming this is indeed Claire Redfield, if we still had any doubts about it.

[7:43]Next, I want to focus on the card itself. Personally, I can't see anything on this, and I can't think of anything in the original game that may have connected to this either, but clearly it looks important as Claire is interrupted by a knock at the door before she can fully investigate it.

[7:57]Now, I have this crazy theory, as you guys know, I love my crazy theories, but it involves the lore changing a bit.

[8:03]See, I've always seen Rodrigo, the person that captures Claire in the original Code Veronica, as a better or kind of good guy working for a bad company.

[8:11]However, based on some of the actions in the game, he clearly doesn't respect Umbrella. So, maybe Rodrigo is a mole for Chris, a contact on the inside that's providing Chris with valuable information to help bring Umbrella down from the inside.

[8:26]And maybe this card is his contact information, and the reason Chris burned it was to help protect Rodrigo when he knew Umbrella was coming after him.

[8:31]It would also give Rodrigo a little more purpose, character, and motivation in the remake, and it would make his death in the remake a little more meaningful when Chris comes across him. Just a thought.

[8:39]Regardless, after Claire investigates the knock at the door, and when she opens it, someone that looks like Hank of all people comes from behind and maybe sort of kidnaps her.

[8:48]I don't know if that's exactly what happens, because if you look back at the original game, the way that Claire gets captured is a little different.

[8:55]So I'm not sure if uh, we see her investigating the building, the Umbrella building first or if we see this happening first, because whatever happens second is what ultimately gets her captured.

[9:04]But yeah, just a few things before moving away from Hunk. First off, I do think it's Hunk, because one, obviously the quick glimpse of what we see of this stranger looks like him, and two, we hear some dialogue from him later in the trailer, and it just sounds like the voice actor for Hunk.

[9:16]And for those of you that are like, wait a second, Hunk wasn't in the original Code Veronica. Well, that's not completely true. Well, I mean, sort of.

[9:23]In Code Veronica, there was a file that describes Hunk transferring some sort of BOW for Alfred Ashford to Rockford Island, but due to Alfred not giving him enough information about the cargo he was transferring, Hunk refuses this assignment for his team.

[9:34]So, Hunk was definitely stationed at Rockford Island for a bit, and it does kind of make sense for someone like him to bring in Claire versus Rodrigo. Especially if my boy Rodrigo is indeed a contact for Chris, like my theory suggests.

[9:45]Plus, we all love Hunk, and Capcom sure loves forcing him down our throats, don't they?

[9:49]Moving on. So, um, after this sequence, this is where things get kind of really good for me as the last minute in the trailer showcases multiple familiar and unfamiliar scenes and locations that were in the original game and maybe not in the original game.

[10:02]The first is this shot in the woods here. This image is probably the hardest location to identify, but based on the tall fences, we see here, I'm guessing this is still in the prison area, somewhere on Rockford.

[10:13]Honestly, though, I just can't pinpoint this location exactly, so I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one.

[10:18]I do see some sort of logo in the back on some sort of door, so maybe this is the path to the Ashford family residence on Rockford Island.

[10:25]In the next few clips, we see some construction sites, this area kind of reminds me of the area where Alfred traps Claire and Steve before they come face-to-face with their first two Bandersnatches of the game.

[10:35]Then we see this computer that says insert your card. If we're going by the original game, there's two key locations that come to mind that require you to use a key card on a computer.

[10:43]The first is in the main lobby of the official Resident's building.

[10:46]We can't see much in this trailer, but just doesn't look like the same computer that we see in the front desk of the lobby of the official Resident's building.

[10:55]The other moment that requires a key card and a computer is at the very end of the game when Chris activates the self-destruct sequence at the Antarctic base.

[11:01]You can see Umbrella's logo to the right of the computer, and the area does kind of look very similar to this location in the first one.

[11:10]But I also can't imagine Capcom showcasing one of the locations that is at the end of the game and the very early stages of marketing for Veronica.

[11:15]So if I had to put my money on where my mouth is, I'd argue it's the end of the game, surprisingly.

[11:20]It's also possible it's just some other random location, not in the original game. Let me know your thoughts here, nerds.

[11:25]Now, one of my favorite scenes in the trailer is actually this scene right here of the dragonfly being attacked by ants.

[11:30]If you play the original game, you already know the deep connection to ants in this game and this scene is probably directly from the childhood footage of Alexia and Alfred Ashford that Claire watches later in the game.

[11:41]Yeah, I don't know why this scene always gives me chills in the original game.

[11:44]One of the clips shows this dead guard, by the way, and honestly, I bet this is where Claire gets her first gun and probably fights off against her first zombie of the game, something that's a little different from the original game.

[11:53]Next shot is another one of my favorites, the entrance to the prison section of Rockford Island.

[11:58]On the inside of this gate is actually where Claire and Steve meet for the first time in the original game.

[12:03]Now, I love that this wrecked Jeep is still here in the remake outside of the gate like it was in the original game.

[12:08]Although I think it was like almost falling off of a bridge in the original game, so it looks a little bit different.

[12:13]Also, interesting that this shot kind of looks like it's closer to the daytime or at the very least sunset.

[12:19]I wonder if we'll get some shots of Rockford Island during the day, something we didn't see in the original game, by the way.

[12:23]Side note, this could just be the lighting of the fire all around the prison combined with the light from the moon, so I don't know, maybe I'm just reaching here.

[12:31]Next we see a shot of Rockford Island and what I imagine is a transporter assigned to bring Claire to the prison near the start of the game.

[12:38]You, of course, have two golden Lugers after that, which is first used by Steve and then later used as a key item to access the path that leads to the Ashford family residence.

[12:47]And then we see someone in a jacket covering their head with a hoodie, and honestly, I'm confident this is our first look at Steve Burnside.

[12:53]It's kinda hard to miss that ginger colored hair, to be honest.

[12:56]We also get this beautiful shot of the official Resident's main lobby located on Rockford Island.

[13:02]Again, looking at this image it makes me think that the computer we saw earlier in the trailer is actually the one at the end of the game, not here.

[13:08]Also, can I just say how incredible this lobby looks again? I mean, like holy shit, Capcom nailed this area right here.

[13:14]Next clip is, of course, our first tease of Alfred Ashford, and though we might not see his face, man does his threads look incredible.

[13:23]Loving the white gloves, honestly, it just fits him perfectly.

[13:26]There's a twist later in the game that I think these gloves might help hide, and I'm actually looking forward to seeing how this plays out in the remake, honestly.

[13:33]We then get another shot of Rockford Island followed by the Hunk dialogue that I mentioned at the start of today's video. And unfortunately, Claire Redfield is officially revealed, and man does she look incredible.

[13:42]Love how her new look and more on that later, by the way.

[13:45]Anyway, the final scene starts with Claire looking at something before a group of zombies attack her. First thing I want to point out, her choker.

[13:51]Notice how the light blinks red as if something is activating.

[13:55]I wonder what that's about, because that is something completely different because in the original game, the choker was just a fashion piece, but in the remake, it looks like it's some sort of inmate collar, and it kind of reminds me of the bracelets in Revelations 2, another Claire Redfield game.

[14:08]The second thing I want to point out is the fact that this area looks to be in the same area where Claire finds the body holding the gun, probably her first gun of the game, again.

[14:18]At least that's what the floor looks like to me. Thirdly, there's a bottle on the ground that kind of reminds me of the hemostatic. I think that's how you say it, that you get as Claire for Rodrigo in exchange for a lockpick.

[14:29]So that's pretty much it for the trailer. However, that's not everything yet. Just like with Requiem, Capcom created and updated a website dedicated to Resident Evil Veronica.

[14:36]There's not a ton of information over there, but a few things to know. First off, we get a much better look at Claire and her attire in Resident Evil Veronica.

[14:44]It's a cross between her RE2 remake attire and original Code Veronica attire, which I definitely like. Also, earlier parts of the trailer showed us that she will, as with the original Code Veronica game, have the Made in Heaven logo on her red jacket, which is great.

[15:00]And her character picture confirms will have dual wield weapons in the remake, specifically for her, I think it was the M-100P, which were found pretty early on in the original game during the prison section of Rockford Island.

[15:11]I'm also loving the more mature look for her character, though kind of shocked she looks so different considering Code Veronica takes place roughly three months after Resident Evil 2.

[15:20]But then again, I know you're going from the RE engine to the RE X engine. I guess that kind of plays a factor there.

[15:26]But that about does it for my breakdown on the new Resident Evil Veronica trailer.

[15:29]Hit up the comments and let me know what I missed. Also, what did you guys think about the trailer? Personally, I loved it. It was a great little teaser and I'm excited to see more of it.

[15:37]Probably at Gamescom later this year. Until then, how about you let me know in the comments as to what things you hope the remake does differently.

[15:43]I'll probably be making an updated video on that very topic, so be sure to subscribe to the channel for more updates on Resident Evil Veronica.

[15:50]But as always, thanks for watching and I'll catch you guys on the next episode of Nerd Space Games. Take care.
