First Look at John Deere's 540RX

[0:00]Now we get to checkout the 540 8RX. It's hooked up to a 24 row planter, and we'll hear from a John Deere expert on all the new features in this tractor. So right at the very front, we have our new easy stackable weights. Forklift ready, and then stack up to four weights, which gets up to 6,000 pounds of ballast on the front of this machine. Right next to it, is something exclusive for the new high horsepower 8 series on the RX, which is front fill for our exact rate tanks. So the ability for a customer to keep their planter fully unfolded, pull up right to the edge of the field where they're tendering unit might be. The hood, the new styling on it, so we have that nice 3D logo John Deere emblem on the front. And then we have the the raised lettering with the silver and black. And then obviously the most maybe important part is under the hood, which is our JD 14, uh engine, which is a 13.6 litre. It has engine braking, which is new for 8R series. Pop this open for us real quick. There's our air filter that we can access right from there. And with the hood open, you can see the coolant level. It's the Command View 4 Plus cab, and that cab also comes packed full of all new operation stations. So we call it our John Deere operator experience. This is our first machine to have a push button start. No more key to actually turn the machine on. What's really cool about that, is you can use a PIN configuration, four digit PIN to actually start the machine. And then maybe one of the most important things about this tractor, and the setup we have here with the planter, is that big cord going into that boot blue plug. That is our 56 volt electric off-board power, and what that allows us to do, is to power our electric row unit planters, like this exact emerge planter behind us, without using a PTO power gen or a hydraulic power gen. The EVT's generating electrical energy as it's operating, and we're off-boarding that to the planter side of things to make it, uh even easier and simpler to hook up.
