No, he said, 'You look tired', to me. Oh. Then why didn't you use indirect, reported speech? I was quoting him directly. And directly causing confusion. Reported speech exists for a reason: to preserve dignity. You made it sound like he insulted me. You should have said, 'Do you know what the porter just said? He said I looked tired'. Alas, no, it was me, he said, looked tired. Can we still have him fired? Of course not. He was absolutely on the money. You do look tired.
