[0:00]A late night crime spree by a group of youths has awoken residents in Adelaide's Western suburbs. Police are still searching for the culprits who committed more than 15 offenses overnight, gaining entry to cars and houses. Covered with masks, hoods and gloves, a large group captured on CCTV walking the streets of Henley Beach South, at the same time as cars and homes were broken into during an early morning crime spree. Very disappointing. This vision recorded before and after 2:00 a.m. nearby residents reporting damaged cars from Hobart Street to the Esplanade from just after midnight. The driver door, the car was left open and the glove box was opened and you can just see that the car was just like ransacked. The gang brazenly entering one home in front of security cameras. The fact that like that didn't spook them with all the cameras on this street alone is really unusual and, yeah, makes you feel a bit weird. Chris Pittman's teenage daughter waking to the sound of footsteps discovering four men in her hallway. Her screams at the intruders rousing her parents. She was telling them to well and truly get out of our house. Very courageous, absolutely. Chris said the suspects had started both cars in his garage, but the attempted theft was foiled when the group were unable to reverse the one with a manual transmission. Yeah, maybe not the sharpest tools in the shed. Chris and his daughter eventually scaring off the group who fled on foot. After that, we also discovered that, uh, there was a knife about this long inside the car. Uh, there was a hammer and a knife in the other car as well. Detectives bagging evidence and door knocking for much of the day. The suspects yet to be caught, police also examining this vision to see if the group members in it were responsible for the crime spree. April Cretan, 9 News.
