[0:00]Hello, and welcome to the English with Michael podcast, the best place to improve your English speaking. My name is Michael, and I'm your teacher. And today, we're going to talk about a couple of things. We're going to talk about phrasal verbs, the history of phrasal verbs. And we're also going to talk about the best way to practice your English speaking. So let's get into it. First, I'd like to tell you about how to improve your English speaking very quickly. And this is by copying. If you copy what you hear, your English will improve. So listen to a podcast like this, listen to an English teacher like me. And when you listen, write down some words that you hear and say them. Say them exactly as you hear them. Make sure you copy the pronunciation, the intonation, and the emotion. So for example, if I say, I'm so happy to be here, and you want to copy that. Don't just say, I'm so happy to be here. Say, I'm so happy to be here. So copy everything. This will make your English sound more natural. And the second thing you can do to improve your English speaking is by joining our conversation club. This is a place where you can practice speaking English with other English learners and with a native English speaker. So you can practice your speaking, you can ask questions, and you can practice in a safe environment. So if you want to join that, check out the links in the description. Now, let's talk about phrasal verbs. Specifically, the history of phrasal verbs. Phrasal verbs are difficult. If you're an English learner, you know that they are difficult. And that's because there are so many of them. We have over 10,000 phrasal verbs in the English language. And the reason for that is because of the history of the English language. English is a Germanic language. So it's related to German, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian. And if you look at those languages, they have a lot of phrasal verbs. The thing is, is that the English language has also been influenced by Latin and by French. And those languages don't have many phrasal verbs.
