[0:00]But first, Chief National Security correspondent Jennifer Griffin. She's in DC. Hi Jennifer. Hi Dana. A seventh US service member died from wounds he received during an Iranian attack targeting Saudi Arabia. The service member was in the process of being transferred to Landstuhl, Germany for further care when he succumbed to his catastrophic injuries. Fox News has learned there have been eight very seriously wounded US service members, all of them killed and injured during the first wave of Iranian strikes on the first weekend of the operation. Some are still fighting for their lives. Over the weekend, black oil rained over the capital Tehran after Israel struck 30 fuel depots in and around the capital. The flames spread through the sewers and down the streets of Tehran, leaving the capital surrounded by apocalyptic scenes of fire and black skies. Fox has learned the US was caught off guard by the scale of the Israeli strikes, which hit 30 fuel depots and left terrified Iranian civilians trapped in their homes. Separately, Centcom issued a warning to Iranians to stay home and away from crowded areas like markets or funerals because the IRGC is placing mobile missile launchers and one-way attack drones amidst the crowds, knowing the US is likely to strike back causing civilian deaths. Quote, this dangerous decision risks the lives of all civilians in Iran since locations used for military purposes lose protected status and could become legitimate military targets under international law. Earlier today, a second Iranian ballistic missile was intercepted over Turkey, where the US has a key base at Incirlik, amidst reports the Russians are providing targeting intelligence to Iran. Are you receiving any help from Russia? Well, uh we have a strategic partnership with uh with Russia. So that's a yes. And uh well, uh military cooperation between Iran and Russia is not something new, it's not a secret. It has been in the past and uh still there and will continue in in the future. President Zelensky of Ukraine says a team of Ukrainian counter-drone experts will travel to the Middle East this week to help advise Gulf states and Jordan how to defend against Iran's Shahed drones, which Russia has used to target Ukraine almost every night for the past four years, Dana. Jennifer, thank you. And Steve Harrigan is joining us live from the Armenia-Iran border as the regime has now chosen a new supreme leader. Steve, good morning to you. That's quite the backdrop behind you there. Bill, the sun is just dipping down beneath those mountains in Northern Iran. I'm on the Armenian side of the border and across Iran celebrations have been underway for the announcement of a new supreme leader, Mashtada Khamenei. He's a bit of a mystery man even to many Iranians, 56 years old. What we know is that already his father, mother, son and wife have been killed in this war. We know he studied religion to the level of mid-level cleric, certainly not a religious scholar. Instead, he spent time in the hardline Republican guard. He was a member of the guard and influential in the guard where he served as well. He played a key role with the guard in the recent suppression of protesters in Iran, deadly suppression which killed thousands of Iranians coming out on the street. One British analyst described him as a nasty piece of work. That opinion shared evidently by President Trump, who said he was not acceptable as a leader, also shared by Israel who said he would be targeted as a leader. And of course, his title Supreme Leader is just that, supreme in almost everything. He controls politics, theology, military, strategy, who gets appointed to what? And yet still a lot unknown about him. A couple of points to keep in mind, originally, Iran's revolution was against the monarchy, against inherited power. That's exactly what we have here, moving from father to son. A couple of other points, his appointment clearly a sign of defiance that Iran continues to keep fighting this war. And finally, it's an attempt, a sign to show that despite the attacks, the multiple decapitations of authority, it's an attempt to show that the government here still is functioning. Bill and Dana, back to you. I guess we'll end up seeing how far the uh Apple falls from the tree here. Steve Harrigan uh live near the Iran border for us, the northern part of the country. Steve, thank you.
