Maxima Apprenticeships & Traineeships | Meet Ricky, Cybersecurity Trainee

[0:04]The traineeship that I recently completed was a cybersecurity traineeship at Jurlique International, while completing a certificate four in cybersecurity at TAFE. When I was in high school, they offered the traineeship program. I wasn't entirely sure what to do for my career, um, but I knew it was going to be in IT. Honestly, I had some doubts about whether I was going to be able to juggle school, my traineeship, and uh, TAFE at the same time. So Maxima really supported me with um, the whole process of starting my traineeship, um, you know, filling out the forms and stuff, the interview, uh, getting me an interview with Jurlique as well. Someone at Maxima, uh, that I've been close with, Denise, um, she's really, yeah, supported me through the whole process, um, starting the traineeship, uh, she interviewed me, and when I had my traineeship postponed, she kept, uh, in contact with me and just made sure that everything was going okay. Jurlique has really helped me with building my skills and, you know, knowledge. Um, mainly because they've surrounded me with really talented, uh, colleagues, and yeah, I'm really grateful that they took up the time and the effort to be able to train me. My main role as a manager for Ricky's traineeship, um, has been to act as a coach and role model for him to help him develop his skills, uh, in our workplace. What I've enjoyed most working with Ricky is definitely his youthfulness. Um, he's very enthusiastic, keen to learn and try new things. Throughout his traineeship, we provide support and encouragement through ad hoc reviews, but also through formal reviews, which is our professional development reviews that we do. For other businesses, uh, looking at traineeships, it's definitely worth a look in, especially with the way things are with cybersecurity increasing, um, in interest, and you might end up with an employee, um, who's a good fit for your company.
