[0:00]It's not menstruation that is shameful, it's about who is menstruating. Think about it, if men had periods, it wouldn't be a private struggle, it would be a national event. Menstrual products wouldn't be hidden in a pharmacy, they would be sold next to energy drinks branded for peak performance. Men would brag about their heavy flow days as a sign of strength and sick days for period pains wouldn't be menstrual leave, it would be government mandated recovery days for warriors. But that's not our reality, is it? Because in our world women happen to have periods, the experience is treated as a secret, an inconvenience, a reason to doubt her commitment. And a big reason for this is that the modern workplace was designed with the male body as the default. A woman's biology is seen as a deviation, something that needs special accommodation instead of being part of the original design. Which is why even a basic policy like menstrual leaves still feel so radical. Well, the goal isn't to get women to fit into a man's world. The goal is to build a world that finally fits women.
