[0:00]25-year-old Simone Biles is one of the greatest gymnasts of all time. She has won more Olympic medals than any other American gymnast and while she makes gymnastics look easy now, her journey to the top was never easy. Her life story is now an inspiration to girls and athletes all over the world. With 19 Olympic and World Championship medals, she is the most acclaimed American gymnast of all time. Simone, the third of four children, was born on March 14, 1997 in Columbus, Ohio. She did not grow up in a typical way. Simone and her siblings were placed in foster care when Simone's birth mother was unable to look after her kids. Her adoptive mother became aware of Simone's birth mother drank and used drugs, which led to the children having to move. Thankfully, Simone and her siblings were able to remain in the foster care system. Simone was a child who struggled with hunger. We didn't have a lot of food growing up, so me and my siblings were very focused on food. In the end, Simone's grandparents adopted her and her younger sister Adria Biles, while another aunt adopted her two older siblings. Simone refers to her grandparents as her mom and dad and views them as her parents. They turned out to be the best parents she could ever hope for. Simone first tried gymnastics when she was six years old during a field trip at the daycare center. The instructors were very surprised by her natural talent. Simone immediately enrolled in a gymnastics program and she loved it. Her mother Nellie always encouraged her to do gymnastics. Simone continued her practice with her passion and determination. She just kept getting better and better. When she was 8 years old, Simone began training with a local trainer named Amy Boorman.

[2:02]A few years later, she participated in national and international tournaments. She then started homeschooling at the age of 12 to practice more hours and be more flexible. This made a huge difference for her. She won and trained harder and harder. As Olympic teammate Gabby Douglas once said, gold medals are made of sweat, blood, tears, hard work every day in the gym and a lot of sacrifice. Simone's sacrifice paid off. At 16, she became the first African-American all-around world champion, and finally she was able to compete in the Olympics. Simone Biles was the shortest member of Team USA at 4'8". In Rio de Janeiro, she won individual gold medals in the all-around, Vault and Floor, bronze on balance beam and gold as part of the United States team. An unbelievable achievement. After the Olympics in 2016, Simone continued to grow in the sport but never forgot her faith and education. She's a regular attendee at her church. She attends college when she isn't competing at the online University of the people.

[3:16]She pursued a business administration degree. Simone co-wrote an autobiography with journalist Michelle Burford, Courage to Sore, A Body in Motion, a life in balance. Simone said, I want people to reach for their dreams and there are so many people who have inspired me with their love and encouragement along the way. And I want to pass on that inspiration to readers. Simone revealed in 2017 that she had started conditioning after going back to the gym. Amy Boorman, her long-standing coach, have relocated to Florida with her family. In October, Biles hired Lauren Landy as her new coach. The Biles two on floor exercise, a triple twisting double tucked somersault, and the Biles on balance beam. A double twisting double tough somersault dismount were two new eponymous talents that Simone debuted at the 2019 World Championships. Both elements received the highest difficulty rating of J, 1.0 for all elements on their respective apparatuses. The Biles two is the only element in artistic gymnastics to receive the J rating across all disciplines for both men and women. When Biles struggled with the twisties, a psychological phenomenon causing a gymnast to lose air awareness, while performing twisting elements, she withdrew from most of the competition at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where she was expected to win at least four of the six possible gold medals. Simone stated on Instagram that she was feeling the weight of the world on her shoulders, and that she felt affected by the pressure of the Olympics. Simone's choice to put her mental health first received largely positive feedback and is credited with igniting a larger discussion about the importance of mental health in athletics. Simone was joined by other Olympians in Tokyo, who demonstrated a greater openness to openly address and acknowledge mental health difficulties. This is a sign of a broader trend in sports where athletes are putting their health before their success. Four-time Olympic gold medalist, Simone was also a victim of sexual harassment. On January 18, 2018, Simone made a post on Twitter, stating that she had been sexually assaulted by Larry Nassar, a former doctor for USA gymnastics. for any individual to experience the horror that I and hundreds of others have endured before, during, and continuing to this day. She gave the excuse that she wasn't emotionally ready to face Larry Nassar again for her absence from court appearances. The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee and USA Gymnastics failed to do their duties. According to Biles, who criticized the entire system in her testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee on September 15, 2021. She testified alongside Michaela Maroney, Maggie Nichols, and Alley Raceman, three of her teammates from the national team. About the 2020 Olympics, Simone said, I should have stopped well before Tokyo, when the media was talking about Larry Nassar for two years, it was too much. But I wasn't about to let him take something I've worked for since I was six. I didn't want to let him take that pleasure away from me, so I persevered as long as my mind and body allowed it. Simone's entry into the world of gymnastics was unexpected, but her natural talent and drive have made her one of the top gymnasts in the world. She is known for her undying spirit, passion and determination. Unquestionably, Simone is in a league of its own. That's the sport story of Simone Biles. What do you think of her story?
