[0:00]This is what my hair looks like after over four years on minoxidil. I actually suffer from androgenic alopecia, which is female pattern hair loss. My hair used to be pretty thin. My hairline was receding. I was losing hair on a daily basis and I was very, very insecure about it. I've completely changed my hair. Everything that I did finally worked. I get so many questions on here about what I did. And I have a lot of new followers recently, so I thought I would go over again everything I recommend if you have female pattern hair loss. And what you can do to actually see results by using things that are backed by science. There are a lot of things that are being promoted for hair growth that don't really have scientifically backed ingredients in them. So, here's the basics on female pattern hair loss, and what actually works and what's been proven. So number one most important thing is Minoxidil. You need to be using Minoxidil every single day, 5% every single day. If your hair loss is very bad, you can use it twice a day, and then eventually taper it down to once a day. If you don't want to use topical minoxidil because you have pets or something like that, then you can get oral minoxidil prescribed by a dermatologist. This is easier to sort of keep away from pets and stuff, but you need to keep in mind this comes with much more side effects. I did used to take oral minoxidil, and I did get a lot of side effects like, for example, my face got very swollen, things like that, I got migraines. I had a lot of issues with it, and I wasn't even on a very high dose, so personally, I like to go for the things that have the lower side effect risks. But if you are willing to take the risk, then it is still considered a pretty safe medication and you can take it orally. Number two is make sure you're blocking DHT. The main hormone that causes hair loss is DHT. Now, this isn't the only thing that causes hair loss in female pattern hair loss. There's other factors at play, it's not just about DHT, you can't ignore DHT. DHT still needs to be blocked because it primarily causes hair loss. So, what can you do? If you are more risk averse, again, you can go and get a prescription DHT blocker, you can use topical dutasteride, topical finasteride, you could use oral spironolactone. You can use bicalutamide, there's a lot of different treatments. All of them again are quite effective and you'll need to see a dermatologist, or you can use natural supplements like pumpkin seed oil, saw palmetto. Or you can use both, there's no saying that you have to choose one or the other. I use natural supplements. I've pretty much used natural supplements the whole way through. Pumpkin seed oil and saw palmetto have really worked for me. This will also depend on your specific case because some people respond to them better than others, but that's what I've used and it's been really helpful for me. Number three is at home lasers. At home lasers are a really good way of stimulating hair growth and it's very easy. It is expensive to buy the laser, but then you've got it for life and you can use it every other day and it's a really easy way to grow your hair. You just pop on the helmet and it just only takes me seven minutes and then it's done, and that's it. So, I do that every other day and that has been really helpful as well. Make sure that you're actually getting medical grade lasers, not red light therapy LEDs, because sometimes they look the same and you wouldn't know the difference, but there is a big difference in the results that you'll have. Number four is using a ketoconazole shampoo. This is super important. Using a ketoconazole shampoo is going to help block DHT topically on your scalp. You only need to use it twice a week, don't use it more than that because it's a medicated shampoo, so you might have issues on your scalp if you do that more. But it's going to really help as well, so make sure that you're doing that. Number five.
