So Canva is an extremely favourite tool for those who are currently working on graphics design or digital marketing. And through Canva, we can create various types of designs required for our digital marketing, like Facebook cover designs, Facebook profile picture designs, and many more. We can create GDD and banner designs, or gig designs for Fiverr marketplaces, everything can be done with Canva. And in this video, I will show you all the tools and basics of Canva, and how even complete beginners can use this video to create their necessary graphic designs and various digital marketing assets through Canva. Let's take a look at the topics we will cover in this video. So in this video, we will cover what Canva is. We will see how to create an account for Canva. We will see how to choose different types of Canva designs and how to give a custom size for different designs when creating them. We will learn about various tools in Canva and the icons or tools in the left and top bars of Canva. We will learn how to add and format text in Canva and how to add a new image to a layout or background in Canva. We will learn how to remove the background of your design, learn about the layer panel, and shapes. We will learn how to flip an image, how to edit an image (meaning how to edit your product photoshoot image in Canva), how to add a background, and finally, how to save the design.
[2:17]We will cover all these 13 topics in this video. So I request you to watch the video from beginning to end, then you will get a basic idea about Canva and you will be able to create your own designs very easily. So first of all, the topic we want to talk about is what is Canva? Well, Canva. When you search for www.canva.com on your browser, you will come to a website. This website is called Canva, meaning Canva is a designing web application. So when we do designs for designing purposes, we use Photoshop or Illustrator. Those are softwares. But Canva is not a specific software. Canva is a web application, which we also call a SaaS platform. Through this website, you can create all your necessary designs. So this was generally about what Canva is. Now, how to create an account on Canva? When you come to the Canva website, you will see a login button in the top right corner. You can click on this login button if you already have an account. I'm assuming none of you have an account yet. In that case, you will press this sign-up button. So after pressing the sign-up button, you will click on continue with Google. So after clicking on continue with Google, since I already have an account, clicking on this one button will directly take me to Canva. And for those who don't have an account, no problem, just click on the Gmail account, and after clicking, you will have to pass two easy steps. I will show you what steps to pass on the screen. So this is how you can easily create an account on Canva. Okay, after creating an account in Canva, the next step, which is the third step, is how to choose the design type and custom size. What is the design type? Let me tell you about that. When you come to Canva, you will be able to see various types of designs for your business here on the sidebar. For example, if you are doing marketing, they will give you various social media or video content, presentation content templates for marketing. Or if you want to create direct business cards for printing, you can select business cards and they will give you business card templates. You can create mugs, t-shirts, logos, posters, flyers, brochures, social media content, website web banners, and many other things by selecting various types.
[5:21]Let me show you a quick example. If I select business cards here, they will take me to some preset business card designs. That is, when I click on a design here, see, they have already given me a business card design. You can easily change your name on this business card and save it. So today's video will not show such preset videos. We will create a Facebook cover design from scratch. So I'm going back to the homepage. Okay, I'm back on the homepage. The most important section for you here is the create page, create an option you see here, create a design option.
[6:12]So from here, your main work will start. So now what we will do, we will click on create a design. So after clicking on create a design, you will see options here, whether you want to create a document, a flyer, a logo, a business card, a presentation, or a video. What do you want to do? Or if you want to create a Facebook post, all of those things you can create from here. So we will create a Facebook cover design today. So do we know the size of a Facebook cover? So if we search on Google, we can know the size of a Facebook cover. So let's check the Facebook cover size. Okay, so the Facebook cover size they are saying is 820 into 312. That is, what we will do now is go to the custom size from create a design and enter our Facebook cover size, 820 into 312. That is, we will select 820 into 312 here. Okay, after selecting, you will see an option here that says pixel. Okay, what is pixel, inches, millimeters? So pixel is the unit of measurement for the size of a digital design. For example, when we measure water, the unit of measurement for water is liters, right? Similarly, when we create a design, a graphic design, the unit of measurement for that is pixels.
[7:42]So now you see here what it says, 820 pixels, right? So if I click here, if I make a small click on the screen, this click is what we can call 1 pixel size. So if I click here again, then two pixels. If I click again, three pixels, four pixels, five pixels. So this is how the pixel count works. So I'm going back to custom size. I'm selecting the size 820 into 312. Okay, after selecting, I will click on create new design. Okay, after clicking on create new design, you see my 812 into 820 into 312 has already been created. I mean, a canvas has been created, meaning an artwork has been created. The area around this, this white area, we call it canvas in design language. Okay, so we can easily give a name to our design from the top right side here. Facebook Cover Design, okay. So Facebook cover design, we can name it. So today we will create a Facebook cover design for a shoe brand.
[8:56]So before going to the cover design, I want to explain to you about the tools in Canva. So if I come to the left side of my hand, we call these elements, design, text, left bar. And the part at the top, the home and then file, we call that the top bar. What do we call it? Left bar and top bar. In the left bar, we have some options, and in the top bar, we also have some options. For example, in the left bar, if we look at the options, in the left bar, we have a design template, an elements template, and text. There is a brand, there is an upload section here, then various apps are available here. You can find a background option here. So there are quite a few options in the left bar. So we will see these options one by one as we work on the design.
[10:02]So first, what we will do is from the left bar, you see there is a text option here. From the text option, we will place the text that we will use for this cover here. Okay, so as I said, I will be working on a brand of shoes. So I'm giving the name of the shoe brand, which is Elite Run. Okay, so this is my text box. You see, you can create the text box and then you can remove this box by pressing Ctrl and clicking, or if you want to add text here, you have to double click it.
[10:42]Double clicking will allow you to add new text. And around this text box, when such a boundary appears, you can select it and move it to different places. Okay, so now you see, I have written the name of my brand, Elite Run. So now you can increase or decrease the size of this text from here. You will select this button and see, there is an option to decrease and increase the font size at the top. From here, you can make the font size smaller or larger. If you want, you can change this font from Canva Sans here to your preferred font.
[11:23]I am currently using this Anton font. Okay, so this is my cover title or main text. Now I will give a tagline. Okay, so since it's a sports shoe, let me give a tagline, which is "Start your fitness journey."
[11:51]Okay, so now what I will do is, this font doesn't look very good. So I will change this font. I will change the font and give something thin type of font.
[12:15]Okay, so this font will remain for now. Okay, so now I want this font to be in one line. And this is my tagline. Okay, so my text work is almost done. From here, you can add different types of text. You can also change the color of this text from here. If you want, you can give your preferred color. For example, I chose blue, and for my slogan below, I chose an ash color. This way, you can customize your text colors as you like. And if you want to make this text italic or underline it, you can do all of these things. And from here, you can also do alignment work.
[13:03]That is, for example, if you want to move this text left or right or keep it in the middle, you can do these things. You can also give bullet points.
[13:14]You can add text by giving one bullet point after another. So there are various options like this, and if you want to give any effects to this text, then in this effect option, from this effect, you can give shadows or leave, these various types of effects you can add. So I will not add any effects to this text for now. So this was generally an overview of the text. After this, we have learned about our various tools, we have generally learned about the sidebar. We have seen how to add text and how to format text. Now let's see how we will upload an image in Canva, that is, how you will upload your product photoshoot product, the product that has been shot, in Canva. So for your convenience, since I don't have any photos taken now, what I will do is, I will download a shoe from Sports Shoe. Okay, Sports Shoe, and since I will teach you how to remove the background, also the sports shoe that has no background for now, I will download such a shoe. For example, this shoe, this shoe has no background around it. So I'm saving this shoe. I'm saving this shoe on the desktop. And then I'm taking another shoe. I like this shoe too. So I'm selecting this shoe. Okay, so before uploading these two photos, I will download another photo, where there is some background in the background, a white background.
[15:00]I will try to download such a photo, a photo that has a white background. I will now upload a photo that has a background.
[15:12]Okay, so I have downloaded it. Now the point that comes is that how to upload an image in our design or in this canvas. So we will again come to our canvas. So in our canvas, we have given a text and a tagline. Now what we will do is, we will select the image that we have saved on our desktop, the PNG image, which is the image without background, and click and drop it here. So you see, after clicking and dropping, I can see the image here. And I'm making my tagline a little smaller. And I'm making the name of my brand a little bigger. Okay, so now you see, since this image didn't have a background, the image looks very nice.
[16:07]And I think the image looks good. So, but what if, if I don't use this shoe, if I use this shoe with background, what would happen?
[16:40]If I use the shoe with the background, then would it look very good? See, it doesn't look very good. So we need to remove the background of this shoe. You cannot remove the background in the regular version of Canva. I'm showing it in the regular version of Canva. To remove the background, you have to take the pro version. You have to buy the pro version by paying money. But I am actually doing this whole design with the free version. Okay, so now what we will do is, since we cannot use the background remover, they are showing us that we cannot use the background remover in the free version.
[17:33]So don't worry, we can easily remove this white background from a website. And the name of that website is remove.bg. I'm writing it again. I will give it in the caption. remove.bg. Come to this website, and from here, you can easily select your photo in the upload image. The photo that has a background around it, select that photo, and when you upload it, then you will see that your background has been removed. Then you can download it again. After downloading, you will see that this photo no longer has any white background around it. How nice. So we will select this photo again. After selecting, we will drop it on our canvas. Okay, after dropping it on the canvas, now you see that you can see this photo. You can see that there is no background issue with this photo now. The background has been removed. You can now rotate this photo. You can design. Here, by holding the photo, you will see a rotate option here. From here, you can move this photo in different ways at different angles. Okay, so my next point that I wanted to show you is that the background remover, you have understood it. So after background remover, there is one more thing I want to explain to you now. That is layer. What is layer panel? Okay, layer. We all know the Bengali meaning of layer. Layer means a layer, right? So my hand, after this hand, another layer, here another layer. In this way, one image on top of another image, actually, layers are formed. Now see, if I show you another previous shoe that I showed you, if I copy that shoe and paste it here, then what is happening? See, one shoe is on top of another shoe, right? So my black shoe is also a black shoe later. So this one shoe is on top of another shoe. So here, if I calculate the layer, which one is at the very bottom layer? At the very bottom layer is this yellow shoe of Sprint, and on top of it is this shoe. So this is the layer. See, one shoe is behind another shoe. Now, if you want this specific shoe, the completely black shoe, to be behind, that is, you want to put this shoe behind the yellow shoe of Sprint, then how will you do it? How will we select the layer? How to send one image behind another image in a layer? So what you will do is, you will select this image and right click on the image. Okay, after right clicking, you will see an option called layer here. You will click on this layer, and after clicking on layer, you will click on send backward. See, your yellow shoe is now on top, and the black shoe has gone behind. Again, if you want to send this yellow shoe back again, then again, what you will do is, you will click on the layer, and after clicking on the layer, you will again click on send to back.
[20:39]Then you will see that my yellow shoe has gone behind, and my black shoe has come forward. Okay, so now what I'm doing is, I'm taking this black shoe, and with this black shoe, I'm taking another blue shoe that I downloaded. Okay, so this is done. Now what I will do is, after that, the point I have, that point is how to flip an image. That is, what is image flip? Now see, when I'm placing this design like this, these two shoes side by side, the shoe doesn't look very good. So now what I will do is, I will rotate this shoe. I will flip it. For that, you have to select this shoe, and above, you see, in this option, there is a flip option here. From here, you will select the flip option, and do you want to flip it up and down or left and right? You have to select that. When you give flip horizontal, your shoe will rotate like this, and when you give flip vertical, the shoe will turn upside down. Okay, now what I'm doing is, I'm doing flip horizontal. After doing horizontal, again, what I showed you earlier, the rotate option, I will rotate it like that, and make this shoe a little smaller. And I will send this shoe to the back layer. I showed you this a while ago. That means, click on the layer, and click on send backward. And I will make this black shoe a little smaller. And I will keep this shoe in front. Okay, so now see, if I recap a little, what did we see? We saw what Canva is, we saw how to create an account in Canva, we saw the design type, we saw different tools, we saw text. We have uploaded images, we have removed backgrounds, we have seen the layer panel, right? We have seen up to the layer panel. Now comes what shapes are. Okay, you will come to this design, and in the left side, you see there is an elements option here, right? So you can go to this elements option, and here, in the shapes option, when you click on see all, you will see many different types of shapes here. You can use the shape you like in your design. So, for example, I will use this box-shaped shape for now. So I clicked on this shape.
[23:10]So after clicking, you see, the shape has appeared. So I will place the shape like this.
[23:20]And then, what I will do is, I will click on the shape. I want to send this shape behind. So that means, now what I have to do is, I have to click on the layer. And I have already sent the shape behind. The shape is behind for now. Then what I will do is, I will change the color of this font a little. I will make this color white. I will make the text color white. Okay, I made it white, and I'm making the text a little smaller. Okay, so now this shape that is there, you can also round the shape a little.
[24:55]So how to round the shape, I will try to show you that option now. Okay, you see, after selecting the shape, when you click on this border style, from here, you can also add a border to your box. If you want to add a border, you can add a border from this border option. Besides that, there are many other options. You can work with these shapes by looking at them.
[26:57]Okay, so now what I will do is, this text here doesn't look very good. I will change the text a little. I will use a stylish text from here. Okay, so I will use this huge sale. I will copy this text. Okay, from here, what I will do is, Elite Run. Okay, I will use this text, and this text looks good to me, but I will change the background a little. I will not keep this background. In that case, what I will do is, I will come to this background. You will find this background inside the apps. So this background, you will select the background. After selecting the background, you can choose a background you like from here. So I will see this purple background. This background looks pretty good.
[27:50]So I will try to use this background. Okay, so now see, if I show you again what things are there in the left bar, I will show you again the elements. You can see that there are countless elements here. So you will use the element that you need according to your needs. Okay, so frame. This frame thing is very interesting. So frame, when you use a frame, you will often create many designs for Fiverr gigs or for your YouTube thumbnails. In that case, what will happen is, when you click on a frame, so after clicking on the frame, I will show you another new page. You will select this frame, and you can add your own images within this frame. For example, there is a frame here, and now I want to add my own image there. So what I will do is, I will select my photo, and when I drop it on top of a frame, you see, when I drop it on top of the frame, my photo is there. I will adjust the position of the photo a little. You see, the thing has appeared on a frame, right? My photo has appeared on a frame. Now, if I want, I can create a circle type of frame. I can make a circle type of frame. I will bring that circle frame, and when I drop a photo inside the frame, you see, I will drop the photo inside the frame again. You see, there is a frame within my circle. In this way, if you want, you can place any product within the frame. For example, here I have another grid type of frame.
[29:30]Suppose I want to place two shoes here. No, not this one. So suppose I will take another frame here.
[29:47]I'm taking this frame, right? So within this frame, if you want, you can also place any shoe. For example, if I bring any shoe and drop it within this frame, you see, you can place it. In this way, you can later make the frame smaller or bigger. So I hope you have understood what the frame thing is. Here, in elements, there are actually many other graphics, many stickers. You can explore all of these, and whatever you like for your design or whatever you need, you can use that. Or you can also search for elements from here. For example, if I search for something related to shoes, even see, it has shown me many things related to shoes, even it has shown me a shoe frame. From here, if I want photos, we can use various graphics, photos, shapes, audio, many things can be used from here. So this was generally about the elements. Okay, after elements, when you come to the upload section, you will previously see the images that we have uploaded here above.
[32:46]Okay, so this is done. Now what will happen is that after my image is done, you will see a share button here in the top right corner. You will click on this share button. After clicking on the share button, you will click on this download button from here. After clicking on the download button, the size that you gave, 820 into 312, will remain the same. And since I have two pages here, page one, page two, it is showing two pages. For you, since you will be working on one page, it will probably show you one page. After showing, what you will do is, after checking everything correctly, you will click on this download button. So after clicking on the download button, what will happen next is that your download will start, and your download will be completed. That means, you will find your download in the downloads folder that is in your C panel, in your C drive. That means, if I click on this show folder, you see that my banner has been beautifully designed as our Facebook cover.
