[0:05]Minno, laugh and grow Bible for kids. Daniel and the Lions.
[0:14]Do you like going to the zoo? Oh, I really do! I like to see the zebras and giraffes and monkeys and the lions! Roar! Yes, lions are usually kept far away from visitors because to a lion, a people look like. Lunch? Yikes. That's scary. It is, and it was scary for a man in the Bible named Me, Daniel. You see, God's people, the Israelites, had been taken captive by a king called Nebuchadnezzar. I know, it's hard to say. And he took the prisoners to his palace in Babylon, where he told his counselors, I want the smartest, most brilliant Israelite young men to come work for me. One of those men was Me, Daniel. Daniel was plenty smart and wise, and he was a hard worker. He also loved God very much. One night, King Nebuchadnezzar began to have some strange dreams. Huh? I wonder what these dreams mean. Did he find out? Yes, because God showed Daniel what the dreams meant. You have helped me understand these dreams, and for that, I will make you a very important leader in Babylon. Daniel, Daniel, Daniel! Amazing! It was. Until, King Nebuchadnezzar died. Oh! And while Daniel was working for the new king, the Babylonian Empire came to an end. And a new empire rose up, the Persian Empire. And they had a new king, me. King Darius. And he said, Daniel, you're such a great help to me. I want to put you in charge of the whole Empire. Daniel! Daniel! Daniel! But there was one problem, the king's counselors.
[2:48]How can Daniel become our boss? He's not even Persian. We need to get him in trouble so he can't be our leader. But how? Daniel doesn't tell lies. He doesn't cheat. He doesn't steal. How can we get him into trouble when he doesn't do anything wrong? Hmm. What to do? What to do? And then, I've got it! Daniel is an Israelite, and he prays to the God of Israel every day. Uh, so? So, let's convince the King to make a law that says, "For 30 days, no one can pray to anyone except the King!" Brilliant! And anyone that breaks the law will be thrown into a den full of lions! Double brilliant! Sure enough, they convinced the King to make that law. And then they waited outside Daniel's house to see if he would obey. That was sneaky. Did Daniel obey the law? Daniel could have skipped praying for 30 days. Or he could have prayed where no one could hear, but he didn't. So, he just kept praying like he always did? Yes. Wasn't he scared he'd get in trouble? He probably was, but I know that praying to God is important. Besides, God is bigger than lions. So, Daniel prayed. And the sneaky counselors went straight to the King. Uh, your greatness. You know that man, Daniel? The one that is wise and works hard? Um, yes, that one. Well, what about him? Well, he's praying to God. He broke your law! Throw him in the lion's den! King Darius was sad. He didn't want Daniel to be lion lunch. But, the law is law. So, the King's soldiers took Daniel, and he was thrown into the lion's den!
[5:16]I sure hope your God can save you!
[5:23]That night, King Darius had a hard time sleeping. Am I ever going to see Daniel again? Will his God protect him? He was so worried that before the sun was up, the King rushed to the lion's den.
[5:44]Daniel?
[5:51]Daniel, are you all right?
[5:56]I sure am! God shut the mouth of the lions so they couldn't bite me. Wow, that was amazing! Yes, the King was happy. Daniel was happy. But the counselors, not so much. I will never pass such a silly law again! I bet the sneaky counselors learned their lesson. They did! And Daniel, he continued to trust God. Because God is bigger than lions.
