How much energy does your brain use at rest, at rest? Who thinks 2%? Who thinks 5%? Remember this is at rest. Who thinks 10%? The brain is the most energy consuming organ in the body. Even at rest, it uses 20% of your daily your daily caloric expenditure, roughly. And so for your brain, it will never ever hold on to information that it does not think is important enough to hold on to, because it burns so much energy that it's a matter of life or life or death. There is almost nothing your brain is better at than forgetting.
