The 20-year-old made history, becoming the first American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in the event in 24 years. This is her second gold in these games after also winning the team figure skating event. But what makes this even bigger? Liu actually retired after the Beijing Olympics four years ago when she was just 16, walking away before returning on her own terms.
