[0:00]What's up guys? Welcome back to another video. Alex here and today I'm going to show you some amazing Samsung Galaxy quality of life settings that you need to change on your brand new Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra that will make using your phone much better.
[0:12]Now most of these will also work with older generations of Galaxy phones. So if you have a Samsung Galaxy, stick around and let's get started.
[0:19]Now the first quality of life setting that we're talking about is going to be exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra because it has to do with the privacy display.
[0:27]And you might have already heard about the privacy display and how you can turn it on for specific applications when you're putting in a password or to block specific notifications.
[0:36]But a lot of people aren't talking about the fact that you can actually create a routine for your privacy display and in order to do that, we're going to go into our phone settings, swipe down to modes and routines, tap routines, tap on the plus icon to create a new routine and then in the if section, we're going to look for something called Wi-Fi network.
[0:54]Then select the Wi-Fi network that you use at home and make sure to select disconnected and then tap done. Now in the then section, search for privacy display.
[1:04]Set it to on and then enable maximum privacy protection and tap done. So now when you're out in the real world and you're commuting or you're at work or at school, nobody will be able to see your display.
[1:15]But as soon as you come home and reconnect to your Wi-Fi network, your phone will automatically turn off that privacy display.
[1:21]Now you guys have probably already heard about the audio eraser feature on Samsung phones where when you take a video, you can remove all of the background sounds out of that video so that it focuses just on the voices.
[1:32]Well now Samsung has expanded that feature to work with any videos that you watch on your phone. So if you're watching a YouTube video, a TikTok, an Instagram, or even a live sports broadcast, if the crowd is being too loud, you can suppress the background sounds of that video and only focus on the voice.
[1:55]And as you can see from that example, it actually works really well. So if you're watching something and you want to drown out any background noise, definitely keep this feature in mind.
[2:02]All right, so you know how sometimes you might be reading a long article on your phone or maybe you're looking at a picture or you're texting back and forth with a friend and then somebody calls you and that call window takes over your whole entire display, completely distracting you from what you were doing.
[2:14]Well, there's a setting on your phone that you can change to fix that. And what we're going to do is go into our phone app, select the three dots here, go to settings and swipe down until you see call display while using apps and set it to small pop-up or mini pop-up. And then make sure to enable this feature that says keep calls in pop-up.
[2:30]And what's going to happen now is when somebody calls you, you'll just get a really small pop-up at the top of your window instead of taking over your whole entire display. And when you answer that call, it will just stay in that small pop-up, allowing you to keep doing whatever it is that you were doing on your phone without being distracted.
[2:45]Now, while we're here, just go back one to the call settings and swipe all the way to the top and you'll see a new option that they added here called call screening. Now, this will be on by default, but I just want you to know about its existence and how it works. And essentially what will happen is when you get a phone call from an unknown number, you can screen the call and have Galaxy AI answer the phone call for you and ask the person who they are and the reason for their call.
[3:08]And you'll even see a live preview of the conversation. And then you can make the decision of whether you want to answer the call or ignore it. This is very similar to what we have on iPhones and on Google Pixel phones. So it's definitely nice to have this come to Samsung phones as well because it is a really useful feature.
[3:21]And while we're on the topic of getting unsolicited phone calls from unknown numbers, if you're tired of getting spam calls, there's a setting that you can enable that will help you reduce the amount of spam that you get.
[3:30]And to do this, you just want to go back to those same call settings and swipe down to caller ID and spam protection, enable this feature and then enable block spam and scam calls.
[3:41]Now, this feature isn't going to block out 100% of spam callers, but after enabling it, I've definitely noticed an improvement. So if you're somebody who deals with spam calls as well, definitely give this a try.
[3:50]All right, guys, now this next quality of life improvement setting has to do with the fingerprint scanner. And if you're finding that sometimes your fingerprint scanner doesn't quite register your finger and you have to try it a couple of times, that can definitely be annoying, but there is a fix that you can do to make it a lot more reliable and consistent.
[4:04]And to do that, what we're going to do is go into our phone settings, swipe down to security and privacy, select screen lock and biometrics, tap fingerprints, and right up here you'll see your fingerprint profiles that you've registered to unlock your phone.
[4:20]Now, I just have one fingerprint profile here, but you can add up to four or maybe even five. So what you want to do is just go ahead and add a new fingerprint and add the same finger twice.
[4:28]And what this will do is give your phone a lot more data to work with, which should result in less errors when trying to unlock your phone with that fingerprint.
[4:34]Now, if you're somebody like me who likes to keep your notification panel clean, so you constantly remove any notifications that you have out of there, but then maybe you have an important notification and you need to do something, but you completely forget about it because you swiped it away.
[4:47]There's a setting that you can enable that will help you with that exact problem. So what you want to do is go into your phone's notification settings, select advanced settings and enable show snooze button.
[4:57]And what's going to happen now is when you get a notification and maybe it's an important one and you actually need to do something, but you just don't have time to get to it right now.
[5:02]Well, instead of swiping it away and forgetting about it, you can snooze that notification for 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or maybe even an hour, and then it will come back to you and remind you about it later when hopefully you have time to actually get to it.
[5:16]Now, while we're on the topic of notifications, another one that you should enable, and this is probably one of the most underrated Samsung exclusive features. And I think everybody should enable this.
[5:25]It's this one right here that says manage notification categories for each app. This will be disabled by default, but when you enable it, what you will be able to do now is manage individual notification categories on every single app.
[5:37]So to show you what I mean, let's use Instagram for an example. Simply tap and hold on it, tap on the I icon over here, select notifications, and you'll see an option down here for notification categories that when you tap into it, you will be able to manage all the individual notifications that you can get from Instagram.
[5:54]And what you can do is just go through here and disable anything that you don't care about. And the best part about this is you can manage notifications for every single app. So I definitely suggest everyone go through here and set up your notification categories.
[6:05]All right, guys, the next quality of life improvement we're going to make is to the call quality on your phone. Now to do this, you will need to be on an active call. So just call somebody or have them give you a call.
[6:15]But when you're on the line, all you need to do is just swipe from the top until you see mic mode right there. And you'll see that by default, it's set to standard. But when you change it to voice focus and tap done, what your phone is going to do now is recognize any background sounds that you got going on around you.
[6:30]So if you're walking by a highway or a construction zone, your phone will suppress all of those background sounds and only focus on your voice. And this way, the person who you're talking to isn't going to have to constantly ask you to repeat yourself. And the best part about this is once you set it, you can forget it.
[6:44]It's not going to go back to standard mode until you actually go back here and change it manually. All right, now, these next two quality of life settings are probably two of my favorites to set up on any Galaxy phone. So I definitely suggest everybody give this a try.
[6:56]So what we're going to do first is go into our phone app, tap on the three dots, go to settings and swipe down until you see answering and ending calls. Then in here, go to read caller names aloud, enable this feature and make sure it's set to always and also enable read caller names twice.
[7:11]Now what we're going to do next is look for the Bixby app on our phone. Now, this should be installed on most Galaxy phones. If you do not have it, just go to the Galaxy store and install Bixby. But once you have it, long press on it, go to Bixby settings, select talk to Bixby without wake up and enable this feature.
[7:27]And what this will allow you to do is use your voice to answer or reject a phone call. So with these two settings enabled, what's going to happen now is let's say your hands are busy, maybe you're washing your car, you're washing the dishes or you're gardening and you just can't physically interact with your phone.
[7:39]If somebody gives you a call, your phone will announce the name of the person who is calling you so that you'll know if it's an important call and you need to answer it. And then instead of having to actually touch it to answer it, you can use your voice to answer the call. And the best part about it is because you use the voice to answer your phone, your phone knows your hands are probably busy, so it puts the call on speaker phone so that you can actually have a back and forth conversation.
[8:00]All right, now for this next Galaxy quality of life setting, what we're going to do is go into our phone settings, go to Galaxy AI, swipe down to the now brief and go to content to include. And there's two options in here that are not enabled by default that are actually really useful.
[8:14]And the first one is traffic updates and the second one is parking spot reminders. So when you enable traffic updates, it will give you the live traffic update of your commute to work so you'll know exactly how it's going and if you need to leave on time or maybe a little bit earlier.
[8:29]Parking spot reminders will remind you where you parked your car and you can even attach a picture of your parking spot to the now brief so that you can reference it for later and make it easier to find your car. This is definitely a feature that I can recall many times that could have really helped me out in the moment.
[8:47]So if you're somebody like me and you lose your car in parking lots, definitely go ahead and enable this. Now if you're somebody who takes a lot of screenshots to share things with your friends or save things for later, here are two settings that you need to enable. Go into your phone settings, swipe down to advanced features, select screenshot and screen recordings and enable delete after sharing and hide status and navigation bars.
[9:04]And what this will do is every time that you take a screenshot, it will ignore this status bar up here, so your battery, your Wi-Fi connection, your network signal, any notifications that you might have, it'll completely block that out because nobody really cares about those in your screenshots anyway. They just kind of make them look a little bit messy, so it'll ignore that.
[9:20]And then the delete after sharing button is definitely really useful because a lot of times I just take a screenshot to share something with somebody. But then I'm too lazy to delete it and it kind of just clogs up my camera roll and I have like hundreds of screenshots from months and months ago.
[9:34]And then I have to go and delete them or just kind of forget about them and they just sit there idly forever. Well, what this will do is after you take that screenshot and you share it via the tool tip, it'll just immediately delete it. So again, if you take a lot of screenshots and you don't want them all piling up in your camera roll, definitely give this a try.
[9:48]Now if you guys just picked up the brand new Galaxy S26 Ultra, check out this video right here of all of the things that you need to do first on your brand new device. But that's going to do it for now. Thanks for watching and I'll catch you in the next one. Peace.
