[0:03]Λοιπόν, οι Nothing Thrives δημιουργηθήκαμε όταν κάποια στιγμή με πήρε ο Simon τηλέφωνο και μου λέει Γιώργο, θέλω να γράψω ένα τραγούδι για να μπορέσουμε έτσι να έτσι για να το γράψουμε. Και ήτανε το πρώτο κομμάτι που γράψαμε ήτανε το New Beginning. Το οποίο υπάρχει ακόμα στην μπάντα και υπάρχει και στο δίσκο. New Beginning. Ναι. New Beginning. το οποίο ε κάθεσε έγραψα στίχους, μπήκαμε στο στούντιο, είχε γράψει τα πάντα ο Simon με κάποιους άλλους, άλλα παιδιά. Και σαν session παιδιά. Και από αυτό το κομμάτι καθίσαμε μετά με τον Simon και είπαμε, ρε συ αυτό είναι πολύ ωραίο. Και βγαίνει πολύ ωραία. Πολύ ωραία. Και κάπως έτσι μετά αρχή είχε κι άλλα ο Simon, μετά είχα κι εγώ κάποια και μετά βρήκαμε και τα υπόλοιπα παιδιά που μπήκαν στην μπάντα σιγά-σιγά, πρώτα ο Αντρέας κιθάρα. Και ναι, κάπως έτσι έγινε. Το όνομα το έβγαλε ο Αντρέας. Ναι. Ναι. It was Andrew's idea. Ε, και συγκεκριμένα είχε πει, είχαμε βάλει κάτω διάφορα και είναι αυτό που μας άρεσε πολύ όλους και ψάχναμε μετά να βρούμε στις μέρες μας πρέπει να ψάχνεις να βρεις άμα υπάρχει άλλη μπάντα με το ίδιο όνομα. we were trying to find if there's another band with the same name. Και τη βρήκαμε στον Nothing Thrives δεν υπήρχε και τίποτα. We couldn't find any other band that has the name. So yeah, Nothing Thrives. Ναι, μας έκανε κλικ και το όνομα. Nothing Thrives. Έτσι. some people say Nothing Thrives Nothing Thrives. So what is the Thrives? Nothing Thrives. Thrives, Nothing Thrives. It's funny, but yeah, it's brilliant. Sorry, I'm going to swear. Ναι, it's okay. You can be beep it out, but I'm the kind of person that when speaks just I swear in between so, sorry. Sorry not sorry. Οπότε κάπως έτσι βγήκε το όνομα της μπάντας και έτσι ξεκινήσαμε Nothing Thrives. Κοίταξε, ε Δεν νομίζω να το έχουμε πάρει ποτέ σοβαρά. I don't even think we ever take things seriously anyway. I don't think I take we take things, well, it's it's kind of got serious naturally. It's not like we we we did it on purpose. did we we we thought okay, let's let's play a few let's play a few shows now and again and all of a sudden it's like like we end up supporting casualties. Then we end up playing with bad movies. Then we end up Sounds 1000 mods last year in December. It's just kind of went from we yeah, it kind of escalated, started escalating from the bottom up. but we also play with really underground bands as well and really cool underground shows too. So there's a mix of one thing and the other, which is pretty cool. You know, I'm very happy with with how it's gone so far. Ναι, απλά δηλαδή μας άρεσαν πολύ τα κομμάτια μας. Αρχίσαμε να παίζουμε και άρχισε να αρέσει και σε άλλο κόσμο. Και γι αυτό και στην ουσία βγήκε ότι μας αρέσει και θέλουμε να το κάνουμε. Το πιο σημαντικό είναι ότι τα πάμε πολύ καλά μεταξύ μας. Εγώ, εσύ, ο Αντρέας, ο Σπύρος. Είμαστε έχουμε πολύ καλή χημεία. Οπότε, yeah. The chemistry there with the guys. There's there's no there's no. Toxicity. No toxicity. There's no drama. Όπως μάμε καμιά φορά we also we also are doing good shows. main characters in the band they're pretty angry. And Mr. Spiro. Ποιος Σπύρος; Εμείς είμαστε θυμωμένοι. We recognize that. Παρότι καμιά φορά μπορεί να μαλώνουμε, αλλά όχι ποτέ σοβαρά, φίλε. Ποτέ, ποτέ. furious. But yeah, he just he just gets angry for 10 seconds and that's it. Α, ναι, ναι. and then he's like back to normal again. but I guess sometimes he's got his reasons and sometimes he just doesn't. just how we just chill out. Well, in a personal level, I think it's amazing to be playing abroad and playing in a band that it's away from the the place we've been before, which is the UK and also in Chile. So it's been a great experience and also the fact that, you know, um, previous to COVID as well, there was a lot of bands active around and everything and then after COVID, there was like an explosion of new bands of like new blood of like new people. Um, you know, uh, being really active, you know, playing at Aon Club and really underground shows everywhere, you know, so, you know, it's pretty cool. Ξεκίνησε μια σειρά από πάρα πολλά live στην όντως στην Ελλάδα και απ έξω να έρχονται πάρα πολλές μπάντες που δεν ερχόντουσαν παλιά. Αλλά και πολλές νέες μπάντες ελληνικές, οι οποίες ξεπηδάνε λόγω του μετά το Covid όπως είπες είχανε μια πάρα πολύ καλή, yeah, there was an explosion of bands like like really young young kids playing music, which is fantastic. And then of course, you know, you you have the usual bands like uh from the Stone Rocks, mostly here in Greece and everything. Mods and and I kind of blues and that's hardcore as well. They continue carrying the flag for the for that kind of genre of music. Ε, βέβαια, αλλά και στο punk rock έχουμε μπάντες διάφορες. Μπορεί να μην είναι τόσο μεγάλες. Έχουμε, ε, είμαστε εμείς, είναι οι Fairal Kids, είναι οι Supercharger, είναι ο Μιχλ, ο Μιχλ, βεβαίως.
[5:18]Ε, και στο πιο hardcore τέτοιο είδος ή πολλά χρόνια, πολλές μπάντες, οι οποίες υπάρχουν ακόμα και συνεχίζουν. Yeah, I mean, it has bands, it has bands, but you know, not not at the level where they can go out and just like sell out a show in uh, in Floyd, for example, you know, and that's yeah. That's true. but no, no, of course, no, of course, it doesn't it it it I don't mind it at all. But I really believe that, you know, um, of course, the main following of people here is like mostly metal in Greece and and the kind of like groovy mid tempo metal and stone. Ναι, είναι πολύ αρέσει πολύ το metal για το stone. But I think what people are not realizing that the people that are listening to this kind of music and they might like some punk bands, they should go and check out a little bit more of the underground scene. I know that exactly underground, there's also like non under underground shows that they're actually selling out, but they're completely unaware of it. So you get to see the same the same crowd on one side and then you get to see the same crowd on the other, but it would be nice if you could fusion them together. Yeah. Mingle them. together because I think I think the whole the whole scene is actually like booming at the moment, so yeah. Cool stuff. Λοιπόν, αν είχαμε τρεις λέξεις ε Balls, shit, ass. it's funny yeah I think I would say it's uh uh energy, anger, and fun. I think that would be my three words. Καλά, εννοείται είναι η ανάγκη για έκφραση. Δηλαδή το κάνεις αυτό γιατί σου βγαίνει από μέσα σου, θες να παίζεις μουσική. Δηλαδή θέλεις να κάνεις αυτό. Ο κόσμος, όταν υπάρχει ανταπόκριση, σε γεμίζει περισσότερο. Σου δίνει μεγαλύτερο drive για για να πας ακόμα πιο πέρα και να μη σταματήσεις. Αλλά το πρώτο απ όλα είναι να εκφραστείς. Είναι να το από μέσα σου να σου βγει αυτό που έχεις μέσα σου, να μπορεί να το βγάλεις έξω. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, to express ourselves somehow. In what way or another. I mean, it's not about work, work, work all the time and just do the same thing all over all over all the time. You know, at least we can just play some you can express ourselves in one way or another. Πριν από τους Nothing Thrives, ας πούμε, ήμουνα σε άλλα συγκροτήματα. Ε, λόγω είχε είχα έρθει τέλος πάντων, ας πούμε, ήταν Θεσσαλονίκη, ήταν άλλα συγκροτήματα. Και δεν μπορούσα να να να δω τον εαυτό μου χωρίς μπάντα, χωρίς να παίζω μουσική. Το χρειαζόμουνα, το χρειαζόμουνα αυτό το πράγμα. Τουλάχιστον εγώ προσωπικά. Αλλά και ο Simon. Δηλαδή we need this thing. We need it. Yeah, it's you know, having a band at least for me, I don't know, I'm I'm sure it's the same. It's the same for Andreas, the same, Spyros, the same. It's for everybody. It's difficult, it's difficult for someone that has been playing or at least been in bands for a long time to kind of just totally stop. So this is why during Covid, I was just buying stuff slowly to keep myself busy to write something because otherwise I was going to go crazy man. It was it was man. But yeah, that's probably the reason why we do this. Really, that's We need this, man. We need this. It's needed and I think people need it too. you know. Ό,τι θέλουν αυτοί. Ό,τι βγαίνει μέσα απ αυτούς. Δηλαδή δεν έχει σημασία τι θέλω εγώ να πάρουν οι άλλοι. Τι δημιουργεί Δηλαδή και οι στίχοι τι σημαίνουνε, τι σημαίνει στον καθένα. Εντάξει, μην παρεξηγούμαστε, είναι και αρκετά straight forward οι στίχοι. Δηλαδή the lyrics are quite straight forward. Αλλά το θέμα είναι ότι ο άλλος τι κερδίζει από αυτό. Γιατί έχω εγώ τι θέλω εγώ They are the ones performing and they are the ones gathering our performance I guess. I mean, we could you could say that they can at least kind of maybe like get the energy and get the message that we're trying to give away because it's not the music is not just it's fun, it's about the fun, but it's also has a message, you know. And it's a positive message within all the negativity that we live in, which is, you know, there's no need to mention it, but, you know, the the list goes on and it's like massive.
[9:35]It's pretty amazing. At least for me, you know, I'm just sitting down in the drums at the back. and just to see the crowd kind of moving their head to the beat that I'm playing is actually quite an amazing feeling. It's just like when you see the kid right at the front going ah and you're like, shit, that's that's us creating that energy, you know, because we're giving that. So personally, I feel amazing about that, you know, I feel absolutely brilliant. I don't know. I mean, you're at the front, so you get the full. Έχεις δίκιο, έχεις δίκιο. You get the full picture of it, you know. Κοίταξε, όταν υπάρχει αντίδραση, είναι αυτό το πράγμα. Όταν αυτοί δίνουν πίσω σε σένα, είναι που σου βγαίνει ακόμα πιο πολύ, ρε παιδί μου. Ναι, είναι σημαντικό, είναι ωραίο. Είναι head rush. Something that there's nothing else compared to that. You know what that means. Powerlifting. Powerlifting. Powerlifting. with uh, you know, whatever that is on the on the side of it.
[10:51]Anyway, yeah. what song you think? Εγώ θα λεγα το Tails of Disgrace, που είναι και ο τίτλος του δίσκου. Δηλαδή, τον ονομάσαμε. Yeah, it kind of gathers everything, yeah. For me, it's between that song and New Beginning. So, with the first song that we did together. So it's a 50-50, because it has the solos, it has the rock and roll, it has the punk on it. So it just kind of puts everything together and, uh, yeah, I think those one of those two would be will be the one. Εγώ θα έλεγα το Tails περισσότερο γιατί και στιχουργικά μαζί με όλη τη μουσική και επειδή είμαστε όλοι μαζί και υπάρχει και gang vocals πίσω και είναι πολύ ωραίο κομμάτι. Και με διάφορα σημεία είναι και οι στίχοι που μιλάνε για κάτι πολύ συγκεκριμένο που παίρνουνε στοιχεία της ζωής και λέμε γιατί είναι nothing thrives η μπάντα. Αλλά, all όλα τα τραγούδια. Δεν μπορώ να πω ότι υπάρχει ένα που δεν μου αρέσει και δεν το πρότεινα. Αλλά άμα θα ήταν ένα να διαλέξω, θα ήταν αυτό. Yeah. You never know, people may have a different opinion, you know. Maybe they like a different song altogether, you know. It happens with a lot of bands.
[11:57]Sometimes they, oh, I don't really like this song, and then everybody loves it. You know, so you know, it could be, I mean, at least for us, I think it's those it's either one or the other, you know, but those two songs are the ones that stick out. for the ones that just discovered this now, whether it's on an album or live show, it's uh, my question would be, did did you get it? Did you like it? What what kind of energy you got, but I think that, you know, the the main experience from the band is when we play live really. I don't think that for a lot of bands is the other way around. You know, you listen to the record and the record is amazing and then you get to see them live and it's not so good. I think for us it's, I mean, I I believe that we have a good record, but I think I think we're more we're more of a live band, really. We we we can express ourselves better in a in a live situation and so far whenever we have played live, they the reception has been excellent, man. It's been great. It's been really good. I mean, of course, you know, you have to kind of start from the very bottom. You play shows where there's 20 people and then you play another one, like when we played with 1,000 muns, that it was 2,000 people. You know, and then I remember playing, I think the first song they were kind of like checking out who we were. Second song, they got louder, third song, they were like, everything went wild because they got what we were kind of trying to do. Of course, you know, he can differ in in different situations, but so far, I think it's been a good reception. We have fun, man. Εγώ θα έλεγα ότι πρέπει να ξυπνήσουμε λίγο. Καταλαβαίνεις τι θέλω να σου πω. Δηλαδή το μήνυμα της μπάντας για μένα είναι ξυπνήστε. We we want the 80s, we want the 80s, 1982 feeling. Yeah, wake up. Yeah, you know, the the minor fret days, the black Saturdays. Exactly. People are going like wake up. I mean generally, just wake up.
[14:02]You know. Not out of it. Yeah, throw your god damn screens. I think people are really, I think people are kind of like stuck also on the fact that, you know, it's like big band, yeah, we can react however we want. Small band, we we kind of like restrain ourselves. However, you know, people move a little bit more here in Greece, compared to other experiences I've had in in Europe. Like for instance, you go to to Germany or, well, Germany hardcore shows are pretty tough. They they're good. Yeah yeah, they're good. Uh, but, you know, UK can be a little bit quiet sometimes. It depends, not not in the hardcore scene. But yes, generally yes. not in the hardcore scene. in the punk scene you know, they're getting older as well. So, you know, people are getting older. I know that it's an old style of music, but um, I don't know. I think that uh, it it can be really good, it can it can be kind of like in the middle. It just depends of what people wants. But, you know, also the younger generations don't have the drive that we once had, I think. I think you know, at least they drive that I had I guess I'm 43 years old and I still have it, man. It's true, man. I'm kidding those drums like they owe me money. Where's my money, Lebowski? Where's my money? You're right about that. Yeah, yeah, exactly, you know. So, you know, you watch videos from bands in the 80s, you know, Black Flag or Circle jerks and bands from the US or even UK exploited, you know, from Scotland or uh, I don't know, this charge or GBH the the crowd was going insane. Then you see them today and the crowd they're kind of like moving, but no where near as crazy as it used to be back in the 80s. So I don't know if it's like a cartoon, a culture thing now that the the newer generations are kind of scared of doing stuff or maybe, I really don't know. I mean, considering there's a lot of trouble going on out there, they should kind of be a little bit more awake in a sense. That's just my opinion. I mean, it could be wrong, but I don't know.
