[0:00]Hello, my name is Robert, and I'm a student at the University of Maryland. I'm excited to share a project that I've been working on with you today. This project is called The Music Box. The Music Box is an application that allows users to create music using a simple interface. The interface consists of a grid of buttons, and each button represents a different musical note. When a user clicks a button, the corresponding note is played. Users can create melodies and harmonies by clicking multiple buttons in sequence or simultaneously. The application also includes a feature that allows users to record their compositions. These recordings can then be saved and shared with others. I developed The Music Box using Python and the Pygame library. Pygame is a set of Python modules designed for writing video games, but it can also be used to create other multimedia applications. One of the biggest challenges I faced during development was accurately synchronizing the audio playback with the visual representation of the notes. I overcame this by implementing a precise timing mechanism that ensures each note is played at the correct moment. Another challenge was designing an intuitive user interface. I wanted the application to be easy to use for people of all ages and musical backgrounds. I achieved this by keeping the design simple and incorporating clear visual cues. My future plans for The Music Box include adding more instruments and sound effects. I also want to implement a feature that allows users to upload their own samples. Additionally, I'd like to explore integrating more advanced musical concepts, such as scales and chords, to provide even greater creative possibilities.
