[0:00]Have you ever felt like there's never enough time in a day? You wake up with a to-do list thinking you'll accomplish so much, but before you know it, the day is over and you barely got through half of it. The frustration builds up and you wonder, why can't I manage my time better? If you've ever struggled with this, don't worry, you're not alone. But here's the good news. Managing your time is possible, actually, and the Bible has already given us the perfect principle to follow. The first thing we need to understand is that time is a gift from God. Ephesians 5:15-16 tells us, "Be very careful then, how you live, not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil." Every second we have is an opportunity to serve God, to love others and to fulfill the purpose he has given us. When we treat time as something valuable rather than something to waste, our perspective shifts. We begin to ask, how can I honor God with the time he has given me? One of the most powerful time management principles in the Bible comes from Matthew 6:33. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. Notice the word seek first. This is a clear instruction about priorities. When we put God first, everything else in our schedule aligns properly. Many people start their day by checking their phones, scrolling through social media or stressing over their to-do list. But imagine if instead, we started with prayer, seeking God's wisdom for the day. When we acknowledge him first, he directs our paths, helping us manage our time more effectively. Another key biblical principle for managing time is found in Proverbs 21:5. The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty. This verse teaches us the importance of planning. Jesus himself was intentional about his time. He knew when to preach, when to rest, and when to spend time alone with God. Planning is not just a productivity hack, it's biblical wisdom. If you want to be effective in managing your time, don't just "wing it." Take time each morning or the night before to list your top priorities. Identify what truly matters and focus on that. Now here's something we often forget: rest is part of productivity. Genesis 2:2 tells us that after creating the world, God rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. If the creator of the universe made time to rest, why do we think we can function without it? Jesus himself regularly withdrew from the crowds to pray and rest. Many of us struggle with time management not because we're lazy, but because we're burnt out. We keep pushing ourselves without stopping to recharge, and as a result, we become less productive. True productivity doesn't come from working harder, it comes from working wisely. So how do we put all of this into practice? Start your day with God. Even just 5 to 10 minutes in prayer and Bible reading can set the tone for the entire day. Plan with intention. Write down what needs to be done and prioritize what truly matters. Set boundaries with distractions, whether it's social media, unnecessary meetings or activities that don't add value. Be mindful of how you spend your time. Schedule rest. Give yourself permission to pause, reflect and recharge, knowing that God is in control of your time. Managing your time isn't about doing more, it's about doing what matters most. And when you follow these biblical principles, you'll find that you're not just managing time, you're stewarding it for God's glory.
