[6:18]Okay, are you done? Now, I will be going to ask you some questions. So, first, first and foremost, are you familiar with this? Great. So, the first question is, what is the picture all about? Yes, Kent. Very good. The picture represents the digestive system. So, what particular part of the body this picture is located? Yes, Zen. That's right. It is located at the stomach. So, where is your stomach? Very good. Do you think this is necessary? Yes, Sebastian. Very good. Our digestive system plays a fundamental role in our body. Okay, let's proceed. Our topic for today is all about the digestive system. You mentioned earlier that you're all familiar with this. So now, I will discuss deeper about our digestive system. So our digestive system is made up of gastrointestinal (GI) tract and your liver, pancreas and gallbladder. The GI tract is a series of hollow organs that are connected to each other from your mouth to your anus. The organs that make up your GI tract, in the order that they are connected, include your mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine and anus. Your digestive system is uniquely constructed to do its job of turning your food into the nutrients and energy to survive. And when it's done with that, it happily packages your solid waste or stool for disposal when you have a bowel movement. When we eat, digestion takes place for nutrients to be absorbed. Digestion refers to the breakdown of food into smaller components. Digestion starts in the mouth. We put the food in it to be softened and chewed through the help of saliva and teeth. Once the food is softened, it will be swallowed and pass through the esophagus. Esophagus is muscle tube that leads to the stomach. After passing through the esophagus, the food will stay in the stomach. A stomach is a hollow muscle that contains acid that digest food that we eat. When the food is digested into thick soup like mixture, it will go down to the small intestines where nutrients in liquid form is absorbed by the body through blood vessels in the help of villi. Nutrient absorption takes place. When the digested food nutrients is absorbed by the body in the small intestine is done, the undigested food will be stored in the large intestine which will be flushed out by the body as waste (feces) through the rectum. The digestion starts with the mouth and ends at the anus. Digestion is important because your body needs nutrients from the food you eat and the liquids you drink in order to stay healthy and function properly. Nutrients include carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals and water. Your digestive system breaks down and absorbs nutrients from the food and liquids you consume to use for important things like energy, growth and repairing cells. There are some ways of taking care of our stomach and these are the: eating healthy food that is rich in fiber, do not skip meals, exercise daily, do your regular bowels daily, avoid junk foods and softdrinks. So, do you have any questions before we proceed? None? Okay, let's proceed. You are now going to have an activity. I will divide the class into two groups. So this will be the group one and this will be the group two. Each group will make a poster about the digestive system and label each part. So after you finish the poster, select a representative within your group to present your work in class. So this is our rubrics: Content - 20 points, Neatness - 10 points, Appropriateness - 10 points, Creativity - 10 points, a total of 50 points. So I will give you 15 minutes and your time starts now. Okay, thank you for that wonderful presentation. I was amazed with your work. Now, I will going to announce your scores. So, for group one, you got 49 over 50. A round of applause, please. And for group two, you got 50 over 50. A round of applause, please. So, congratulations to all. Now, for your assessment, in a one whole sheet of intermediate paper, copy and answer the following. So the first part is you need to arrange the parts of the digestive system in correct order. And for the second part, you need to choose the choose the letter of the correct answer and write it in the provided space below. So I will give you 15 minutes and your time starts now. Okay, are you done? Let's check your paper. Who got 10 over 10? Wow, most of the class got a perfect score. What about nine over 10? Wow, very good. What about eight? None? Seven? None? Okay, the lowest score is 9 over 10. Very good, class. Keep up the good work. So now, can you already identify the parts of digestive system? Very good. Who can give the different parts? Yes, Ira. That's right. These are the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine. What about the importance of digestion? Yes, Sebastian. That's correct. Digestion is important because your body needs nutrients from the food you eat and the liquids you drink. You really learned something for our today's lesson. Now, for your assignment, in one half sheet of paper, write a short reflection about our today's lesson. So, that concludes our lesson for today. Thank you for actively participating during our class discussion. Goodbye, class.
