[0:00]Previously on The Promised Land. Our journey from Egypt. Yeah, you know it's been a journey. Every day I sit down and people from the 12 tribes come to me with their problems. Maybe try washing it. Oh, Miriam. I am Zipporah. I am Miriam, I am Moses' sister. He never mentioned he had a sister. Which tribe are you from again? I am actually not a Hebrew. I am an Egyptian. He's hiding something. I can I can feel it. Aaron, I'd like for you to be the day-to-day leader of the people. Yes, of course, I am ready. Miriam, I'd like for you to be the leader of the women of Israel. Jethro said he wants me to be your assistant, sir.

[0:46]Good morning.

[0:50]All right, we'll talk later. What a glorious day. Do you smell that? Wa in the cool morning air. It's the winds of change. All right. Okay. Listen. It has been brought to my attention that the task of leading the people is more than one man can do alone. Well, it seems Moses has finally learned some sense, and no doubt it was kicked into him by his Midianite father-in-law. And now he's electing chiefs to help him lead the nation. And I have been chosen. Some of you will be rulers of 1,000s, some of 100s, some of 50s and some of 10s. We've given group numbers to everyone in the camp. So, line up here. All right, you heard him. Let's go. Line up right here. Joshua, please. Too much. Oh, turn it down. Just give me that. Thank you. And Nemrod, sir. Oh, of course. You will be chief of 100. Step over to Aaron for your designated group number. You don't need to bow, but thank you. No doubt I'll be made chief over 100, probably 1,000. If it were up to me, we'd get to choose our own people, but hey, I'm just a chief. I'll stay in my path. Moses, good to see you. Yes, Korah, I I know. He's my cousin. I know. Yes, Korah, you will be leader of 10. Step over to Aaron for your group. 10? Yes, 10. Next. This is me, chief. I I respectfully, I'm sorry. Respectfully, I believe I am capable of leading at least a thousand, certainly more capable than Nimrod, who doesn't know his... Assignments are assignments, Korah. Please. This is an offense. Even Shem was given more people than me. Shem, you will be ruler over 50. Yay! Oh, he's excited. Yay! Idiot. Stupid idiot. With a dumb face. I can only hope that my assigned people are worthy of my leadership. Group 37. Shem's group! Yeah!

[3:22]Group 37.

[3:29]Korah, you're in this group too? Group buddies.

[4:33]After several weeks of traveling on foot, we finally arrived at Mount Sinai. As you can see, I've already spoken to the Lord today.

[4:47]I went up on the mountain and he gave me instructions for the people. Now my chiefs are gathering the people for the big announcement. Tighten up. Tighten up. Come on.

[5:03]All right. Woo! How's everybody feeling today? Make some noise if you have a good time. Okay, uh, let's uh let's get started. A word from the Lord. You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians and how I bore you on eagle's wings and brought you to myself. I don't remember any eagles. My feet are bleeding. Now, therefore, if you shall indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples. And you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.

[5:54]Here is what we must do. Today and tomorrow, we shall consecrate ourselves. As part of this process, you must all wash your garments. You must not go up on the mountain. Not even on the edges. Because whoever touches the mountain shall be put to death. Be ready for the third day, and between now and then, no sex. I mean it. Don't even go near a woman. Just no.

[6:29]Keep it going, Moses.

[6:33]Oh, thank you, Moses, for those words from the Lord. Now I think it's time for a little crowd participation. Repeat after me. All that the Lord has spoken, we will do. All that the Lord has spoken, we will do. Sorry. Am I in the presence of Egyptian slaves? Or am I in the presence of free people? Now let me hear it with some feeling. All that the Lord has spoken, we will do. That's what I'm talking about. I'm grateful. Moses has given me a role in leadership. Public speaking has always been my strong suit. When I spoke to Pharaoh on Moses' behalf, it went pretty well, besides the plagues. But now that I'm the day-to-day leader, I'll be like a friend to the people. What do you do with friends? You entertain them. When I say Mount, you say Sinai. Mount! Sinai! Mount! Sinai! When I say Promised, you say Land. Promised! Land! Promised! Land! Now, obviously, we can't all wash our clothes at the same time. And nobody wants to be around when the tribe of Gad washes their clothes. And don't get me started on the tribe of Zebulun. Their garments still have dust from Egypt.

[7:45]Yes. And the tribe of Issachar smelled like donkeys.

[7:56]But, all that to say is we will be taking turns and this is the order. Today was just an off day for me. It happens to the best of us. Normally, I I very good at telling jokes. For instance, there was this one about, uh, there was a sheep. Yeah. Okay. Why didn't the goat cross the desert?

[8:26]Because he was sheepish. Because he's like, uh, goat, so he shouldn't be sheep. What do you call a guy who's crazy for manna? A maniac. So, things like that just swirl around in my mind.

[8:48]All right, guys, that's my time, but before I go, my sister Miriam has some words. Miriam. Come on.

[8:57]Starting today, we will have a women's hour in the Tent of Meeting.

[9:14]We can't hear you. 3:00 to 4:00. So shrill. Any women seeking counsel are encouraged to join us during women's hour. Thank you. More inspiration for women everywhere. Don't touch me, please. That's all for today. Thank you. And please, reach out if anyone needs soap. Looking at you, Naphtali.

[9:41]Great meeting, Aaron. You're the funny son of Aaron. Master. Joshua, please. It's Moses. Yes, Master Moses. I was wondering, how can I help with the consecration? Why don't you guard the mountain? The mountain? The whole mountain? Yes, guard the mountain. And if anyone should try and touch it, you put them to death with a stone or an arrow.

[10:14]Consecration is very serious business. This is how we show the Lord that we are ready to listen. I have fewer men to lead than most chiefs, sure, you got me. But through my leadership, these ten will become the greatest in all of Israel. Mark my words. Weakness is not an option. Failure is not an option. Perfection. That is the only option. Forty-nine days with these Hebrews and still no one suspects me. If I can convince these ten in order to hold each other accountable, we have to prove that we can trust each other. Will you all please stand? Follow me this way. All right, men, shake a leg. Gather here and fall on two lines.

[11:07]Now it's time to demonstrate trust. I'll go first as a sign of my faith in you.

[11:23]Well done, Korah. Very impressive. Help me up. Korah, Korah, Korah, Korah. Help me up. Korah, Korah, Korah, Korah. That's not what I mean. Every great leader faces obstacles. I happen to have been given ten obstacles. Ten stupid obstacles to assert my dominance over. I mean, uh, to lead.

[11:53]I can't even remember the last time I had free time on my hands. For the past few months it's been, Moses, we need you. Moses, we're in trouble. Help us, Moses. But now that I have Aaron and Miriam and the chiefs running things, I can finally take time for myself. What are you doing? Throw me up. Come on. Oh no.

[12:36]No, that's out. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Excuse us. Uh, can you throw us the ball back? We need your help. We need your help. Oh.

[12:55]Oh, no.

[12:59]Moves like that are cheating. And when you cheat, you betray your people. Do you want to go back to Egypt? No.

[13:08]Okay. Let's go have some fun. What is it, darling?

[13:26]Good game. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I understand where you're coming from, Reuben. But no, you can't just jump into the river wearing your clothes. You must scrub them to make them clean. Aaron, Aaron, make a joke about his tribe. I'd make a joke about his tribe, but he's from Ephraim. He wouldn't get it till next week. Yes, because the people from Ephraim, they are dumb. All right, all right. I have spoken. Next. It's a long journey from Egypt. I can only imagine. Oh, be right back. How's it turn out for the women's hour looking? Going by the second.

[14:07]Get ready to make the announcement. It's almost time. Thank you. Thank you. This is fun. I could do this all day. All right. Gentlemen, I'm going to take a break while the women handle their business. But don't worry, I'll be back soon.

[14:25]Shall we begin? One moment. Listen, Lord. Begin.

[14:43]This is Zela, from the tribe of Levi. Hello, Zela. Oh, excellent. Woman, could you fill this with water for me? No, no. That's not what we're here to do. Give it back. I can fill it after, if that's okay. I will allow. I'm sorry.

[15:03]The women in the camp are usually given the chance to be heard. Women are considered property and that's a hard mentality to break.

[15:18]Now that we're no longer slaves in Egypt, everything is going to change.

[15:24]Women are not just property now. We're property with a voice. What can I do for you, Zela?

[15:35]Go ahead, child. Speak up. I can barely hear you over all this noise. Actually, never mind. I'll go get you your water, sir.

[15:48]I will allow. I'm sorry. Okay. Well, next, this is Shamira from the tribe of Dan. Go ahead, Shamira. So, it is my time of bleeding. Quiet! Quiet! Really?

[16:07]Back. Further back, please. Stay away from the mountain. Guess who finally got an assignment from Moses? Me. It is an assignment of the utmost importance, and I'm taking it very seriously. Okay. I think that's far enough. Oh, whoa, whoa, no. Not today. Yes. Begone. Goodbye. Where are you going? This is an opportunity for me to prove myself to Moses. Nobody, and I mean nobody, is going to touch the mountain on my watch. Or else. I'll take that. Bye-bye.

[16:53]I'll get it. Sorry. Hey, hey, stop right there. I'm just going to get the ball. Nobody can set foot on the mountain. Anybody who set foot on the mountain must be put to death. Under whose orders? By orders of my master, Moses. Oh, no, not Moses.

[17:13]It'll just take a second, brother. I cannot allow you to pass. I'm barely touching the mountain. I'm sure Moses will understand. You will have to wait. We'll have to. All right. All right. Get him. I mean it. Get back, all of you. Fine. I'm sure Moses will be very proud of you. Let's go.

[17:36]By the way, aren't you standing on the mountain? The line is behind me. You're right there.

[17:47]That was okay. I'm not sure what most people do with their free time, but it's a good opportunity for me to relax. That's the life. Going to do some laundry, huh?

[18:48]Yesterday was a new experience for me. I felt useless and unwanted, and, uh, it was not great. But today my head is more clear. I know the people still need me. Even if they don't act like it.

[19:37]Momo! Oh, ah. Earlier I got four. I believe you. Good day off. Uh, half day. I did, uh, stop by the meeting tent earlier, but it seemed like you all had it under control. Today was all right. I am hopeful tomorrow will be better. I'm sure it will be. You know, it's a shame we have to consecrate ourselves. Tonight is such a lovely evening. Stop it. That's not fair. It's not nice. Well, since you have so much free time on your hands, there is something you can do. What's that? Have fun.

[20:25]But I mean, I I do it in the morning, right?
