[0:00]Oh, hi. In this video, where I'm gonna teach you more than 30 words which you can use in a supermarket. Let's go. So this is the outside of the supermarket, so I'm going to go in. When you enter a supermarket, you may see some baskets, shopping baskets or shopping trolleys. In British English they're called trolleys and in American English we call them a cart, shopping cart. So because I'm not going to shop a lot of things, I'm not going to buy a lot of things, I'm going to pick up a basket. So I picked up a basket. Now, let's browse. I'm walking through the aisles. So, these corridors in the supermarket are called aisles. And I have grabbed my basket. I want to take whatever I want. This is called a supermarket. Some other kinds of supermarkets which include vegetables, fruit and stuff, they're called grocery store or food shop. So, here we can see the confectionery, like chocolates, I don't know, jelly gums, jelly and that kind of stuff, but I don't need those stuff. I need some lasagna. So, let's grab a lasagna. I found the lasagna. So, as you can see, there is a discount. It is discounted and it is on sale. Actually, when you want to say something is cheap, but you want to convey a positive meaning, Um, it is not really suitable to say it's cheap because cheap has a negative meaning. It means something is not really valuable or it is not high quality enough to have a good price. So when you find something cheap, it's better to say that's a bargain or it's a good deal. I took the lasagna but now that I'm thinking I understood I'm gonna need more stuff. So I'm gonna put the basket back and take a trolley, take a cart. I put the basket back and as you can see, they are gathered here. They gathered the baskets here. And then, I took a trolley, or as I said, a cart. So, in this section, we have some sauce. We have the hot ketchup and the ketchup ketchup. You know, the normal one. Ketchup is made of tomatoes, usually tomato paste, I think, and they have some spices and so on. And then here we have the mayonnaise. I'm going to take mayonnaise. And the ketchup is in different sizes. So this is the small one, but this one is the bigger one. And this is a very nostalgic ketchup in Iran. We call it the bear ketchup. It is really old and people like it, but I'm not going to take it today. Then we have the chili mayonnaise, I don't know how it is or how it tastes. Then we have the chili, um, yogurt sauce, ranch, garlic and Thousand Island, French, this one is my favorite. And then, here we have a jar of mayonnaise. Yeah, these are jars. This one is a glass jar, but this one is a plastic jar. Yeah, and here you can see the mayonnaise, but I'm not going to take those for now. Actually this aisle consists of different parts, uh different items, different products. So we cannot say this is the drinks aisle. It's better to say this is the drinks hard or drinks shelf. So this is a carton of juice. Apple juice. Peach juice, and this is a mixture of fruits. And this one is orange juice. What is this one? You tell me. And these are the big ones, but these are the small size ones. And by the way, I didn't tell you this one, this is sour cherry juice. They have all of the same flavors in the small size. So, here we have the soda. This is Pepsi, but this one is an energy drink. The energy drink is in in a bottle. It's a medium-sized bottle. I think it is one liter. Um, how can I see? Yeah, it says one liter as you can see. And here we have the noodles. Oh, I'm gonna need some. Take them and I put them in the cart. Oh, I'm sorry. So yeah, I took the noodles and I'm gonna need these drinks. Um, they have basil seeds. You see these seeds inside the drink? They are called basil seeds. And I don't know the flavor. Can't loop. So it is cantaloupe flavor. Um, I don't like this. So I'm gonna take the coconut flavored drink. But in this one, you can see pieces of coconut as you can see. This one does not contain basil seeds. And now, let's move on. Um, I think you know what this is. This is garlic. Oh, no, no, no, it's not garlic. They are called olives. This is a jar of olives. Um, I like olives, but let's buy them another time. They're also on sale, by the way. But, a jar of pickles. Uh, we can call them pickled cucumbers, but usually in the English culture, I mean American or British, totally English culture. Um, they don't call them pickled cucumbers. They call pickled cucumbers pickles. So, I'm gonna take a jar of pickles. Oh, and this is a bag of salt. This is sea salt, but I think it is processed, if I'm not mistaken. There's nothing written, so I think it is the natural one and it is not processed or cleaned. So, I'm going to take a bag of these. And this one is a smaller bag. So this is also a bag of salt, but I think this one, yeah. This one is cleaned and it is refined. It means they clean it and they take the dirty stuff and the bad elements. I don't know how the process is. This is my picked items.

[9:22]Here we have oil. This is frying oil, but this one is simply the sunflower oil. I'm gonna need this one. Oh, this is not on sale. But I have to take one. And I took lasagna. Oh, I also need fettuccine. I told it with the Italian accent. In American English, we call them spaghetti. So, I took a carton of spaghetti. And these are also pasta. I think I'm going to need a bag of pasta.

[10:11]We can also call it a packet or a bag of pasta. And this one is penne. So yeah.

[10:28]And here we have tuna cans. So, this is called a can or a tin. This is a tin of tuna, or a can of tuna. We crack it open from this part and then we should peel this metal surface, this metal plate. I don't really like tuna, and the last time I had tuna, I got really sick, and I had to go to the hospital. So I'm not gonna try that again. And let me tell you in detail. I was at my friend's place, place means house, home. And we were really hungry and you know, I can't cook really, but he's a bit of a chef. So he told me, let's go buy a can of beans, and a tin of tuna. And then we mixed them, it was really delicious. Or we can also say it was really delish, but after one or two hours, ah, we were really sick, and we had to go to the hospital. So, I don't recommend it. Hmm, jam. I'm going to take that. Actually, this is quince jam, quince jam. You know, um quinces are similar to apples, but they have a little bit of different flavor, they have a different taste. Um, I'm not going to take the quince jam, but I, I'm going to take the fig jam. I love figs, and fig jams are really nice, especially for breakfast. And here, we can see a jar of honey. And this is a small glass of honey. Oh, my favorite, hmm, peanut butter. I'm gonna take it. These are my groceries so far.

[12:51]Ta-da! And this is my favorite part. So here, we have the ice cream. The ice creams. We have different kinds of ice creams, but my favorite one is the mango one. It tastes like, hmm, I cannot explain in words how it tastes, but yeah, it hits the spot, really. And here, we have the protein products and some processed food. Yeah, this is a fridge, and we have processed hamburger. Actually, it is freezed hamburger. We have falafel, and we have chicken breasts. These are chicken breasts, and I don't know what this is. I think they're chicken nuggets. Something like that. And here we have kebab. That is freeze kebab. I don't know what that is. I really don't. I think that is donut paste or something like that. And here we have the mozzarella cheese. Yeah, mozzarella cheese. And I've told you the rest. Oh, we have the pizza bread. This is pizza bread, and here we have corns. And here, we have another fridge. We have sausages. And I think that is ham or something. Yeah, milk. Bottles of milk. And we have cheese. Yeah, but we have different types of cheese here. I don't think they have Greek yogurt because I love Greek yogurt. It has a lot of protein. And that drink is called Doogh in our language. But in English, I think they call it yogurt. Yogurt drink or something. In some other languages, they call it Ayran. So, Ayran, Doogh, or yogurt drink. And this is the snacks aisle. Yeah, I love snacks. Here we have a traditional Persian snack. We call it Lavashak. The original Lavashak is not in dishes like this. Actually, the original one is in rolls, and we roll it. Um, they're made of dried fruit. No, no, sorry, they're not made of dried fruit. They boil fruit, different kinds of fruit, maybe peaches, I don't know, sour cherries, berries, any kind. They boil them, and then after they are completely boiled, they pour that syrup. Because it changes into a syrup. They pour that syrup on a surface, and then put it under the sunshine. Then it gets heated by the sun, and then it gives you these thick plates of Lavashak. In English, they call it fruit roll or fruit leather. And this is sour cherry, but it is dried, and it has a special sauce which is really sour, sour. But these, because I think they're apricot Lavashak, apricot fruit leather. I think they they must be sweet. And these are cookies or biscuits. We call them biscuits, and these are crackers. This is a packet of crackers. I'm going to take these. Actually, there's a difference between crackers and biscuits.

[17:23]Um, biscuits are sweet, usually, but this one, it is salted. It is savory, you know. It has salt. And these are marshmallows. I love marshmallows, but I'm not going to take them. They're not good for my teeth. But I also like these gums. These are jelly gums, and these are sour. I love them. I really love them. But again, I'm not going to take them. These are some kind of Japanese or Korean snacks which are imported to Iran.

[18:10]They're a kind of jelly gums, but I don't know how they are because they are in a kind of liquid. I have no idea. And it says, uh, sugar mandarin flavored beverage. I don't know what it is.

[18:40]And these are cookies or biscuits. We call them biscuits. And this one is eggs and noodles. Yucky. And this one is the Iranian version of Milka biscuits. This is cheaper and it is the Iranian version. Here we have some kind of biscuits. I don't know what they are called, but yeah, they're kind of biscuits, maybe, uh, wafers, they call them. And it is milky. This one is chocolate flavored. And here we have some different kinds of snacks. These are chips, potato chips with different flavors. And where are the snacks? Oh yeah, here we have the snacks. And they're also in different flavors. This one is really interesting. It has peanut flavor. And I have no idea how they make it. And in this part, we have the cleaning products, for example, this one is the glass cleaner. You know, you puff it on the glass and then you clean it off. Or we can also say press. You press it on, you press it out and then you clean the glass. This one is oven and grill cleaner. It has the same use. But this one is a conditioner. Conditioner. It is for your hair. You put it on your hair and then you clean your hair, you wash your hair in order to make your hair soft and clean. These are shampoo. This one is kids shampoo. And these are really nostalgic shampoos here in Iran. I think they exist from 50 years ago, 60 years ago. Oh, and this one is anti-dandruff shampoo, anti-dandruff shampoo. If you have small white spots on your hair, you can use this shampoo in order to eradicate those dandruffs. And these are called razors. So they are razors. And this is a bag of razors. Here we have soap. These are liquid soap. These are the normal soap that we use. They are solid soaps. And then we have some dishwashing liquids.

[21:36]I don't know what these are called in English. I think they're bleachers or something like that. Bleacher or bleaching liquid.

[21:58]And these are all dishwashing liquids. And again, we have shampoos. And these are diapers. These are adult diapers. Actually, in British English we call them nappies. And these are diapers, you know, the baby diapers or baby nappies. And I think you know the difference. Here we have the tissues. This is a bag of tissues.

[22:40]But I think no, they're not toilet papers. Let me see if they have toilet papers. Oh yeah. As you can see, it is a double roll toilet paper. And these are kitchen papers. We use them in the kitchen. It is a double roll, uh, kitchen paper. It is also called paper towel, as written on the packaging. So yeah, that is what we call them. By the way, I just forgot to tell you that these are called the price tags. They are the price tags. Now, let's go to the checkout. That is the checkout. And he is the supermarket owner. And the people who work for him are called the staff. So, he is stocking the cakes. So when the staff put the items in the shelves, they are stocking the items. Yeah, he says the shelf is empty, and he's trying to make them full. He's trying to fill them. He's trying to stock the items. So now we are at the checkout. This is the counter, and I'm going to take my items. Put them on the counter. And then the They scan the code, they scan it, and then they tell me the price. So I'm putting them here, and he's scanning the items. And then, when he scans the items, you can see them on the monitor. So these are the products that I got. This is a plastic bag. This is the big one. And this is Oh, okay. So yeah, that is the small one. And this is a parrot. Whoa, it's really beautiful, but it is in a cage. We should not keep the animals in a cage. I think so. I think he's done scanning the products. Oh, thank you. He forgot to tell his part correctly. Are you paying by card or in cash? Are you paying by card or in cash? Uh, I'm paying by card.
