[0:00]Hello, I'm Dr. Stephen. I'm a consultant in respiratory and general medicine, and I'm here to talk to you about our post-COVID service at Health Point Hospital. I'm the clinical lead for the service, and I've been involved in setting up the service as we saw the need for this at the beginning of the pandemic. Health Point Hospital is a private hospital based in Southwest London, and it's a very well-known hospital within the community for looking after people for many years now. We opened up a post-COVID service towards the middle of last year, as we saw an increase in the number of patients coming through our general medical service with ongoing symptoms of COVID. We've seen over 200 patients now come through our service who are suffering from ongoing symptoms of COVID-19, which is also called long COVID. Patients who develop COVID-19 can often develop symptoms that persist beyond the initial infection. And this can be a very challenging time for patients, and it can also impact on their day-to-day activities and their overall well-being. Patients who have been admitted to hospital with COVID-19 or who haven't been admitted to hospital can still develop long COVID. And we're here to provide a service that can help identify the causes of these symptoms and provide treatment and support to patients. We've adopted a holistic approach in our service, where we involve a number of healthcare professionals from different backgrounds to provide a comprehensive service for our patients. This includes consultants in respiratory medicine, cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, and also rheumatology. We also have input from physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dieticians, and also psychologists, who all have a key role to play in helping patients who are suffering from long COVID. Patients are referred into our service usually from their GP, and we also take referrals from other consultants and also from self-referrals. Patients who come into our service will initially have a comprehensive questionnaire to fill out, which will help us identify some of their ongoing symptoms. They will then have a medical assessment by myself to help identify what the ongoing symptoms are and to help formulate a plan for them. This will often involve investigations like blood tests, ECGs, chest X-rays, and also lung function tests. And then depending on the symptoms, patients may be referred on to other specialists. Patients who are suffering from significant fatigue or breathlessness or brain fog may be referred on to our rehabilitation service, which is a comprehensive service that provides one-to-one and group sessions for patients. The feedback from our patients has been excellent, and we've been able to help many patients recover from their symptoms of COVID-19 and return to their normal day-to-day activities. The aim of the service is to provide ongoing support and treatment to patients and to help them recover from their symptoms of long COVID, and also to contribute to the ongoing research and understanding of long COVID. If you'd like more information about our service, please do not hesitate to contact us at Health Point Hospital, and we'll be happy to provide you with more information.
