[0:00]Breathe, buddy.
[0:06]Buddy breathe.
[0:14]Ready, come on.
[0:18]Seriously? How long has it been? 21 seconds since I've been viewing there you go. Hey, come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Oh, thank you. Oh, thank you. I hate that. Breath holding spells are a common phenomenon. They can start at ages as young as 6 months and they tend to fade away as an issue by four to six years, but it's often more of the toddler age. They are harmless but they can be scary to watch as a parent, especially a new parent. What's happening is a child is getting so upset. They're crying and screaming and essentially hold their breath. Their face turns red, their lips might even turn blue, and they either will stop and catch their breath and settle down or they'll hold so long that they actually pass out. But as soon as they pass out, their brain stem will take over, the breathing reflex will start and they will resume breathing. They will not hold their breath long enough to ever harm themselves. There's really nothing to do. The priority is always safety with kids. So if this is happening, set them down, make sure they're safe, leave them alone, let it pass, they will be totally okay.
