So the first question I recommend you prepare for is, why do you want to be a leader? Here's two tips and I will then give you the answer. Tip number one, so this first leadership interview question is assessing your motivations for becoming a leader. Now, the role of a leader is not suited to everyone so you must demonstrate a passion for the level of responsibility that will come with the position. And tip number two, in your answer, I recommend talking about how you will get to coach, train, and develop people to reach their full potential and also help your employer achieve their strategic goals. So let me give you a brilliant example answer. Why do you want to be a leader? Here we go. "I want to be a leader because I want the level of responsibility that comes with the role. I will thrive on the daily challenges I must overcome, and enjoy the opportunity to motivate, develop, and train my team members. I want to be a leader because my energy levels, my enthusiasm and drive, and the values I work towards are all aligned with the position. Now finally, I want to be a leader because having watched other leaders over the years, and studied various leadership books and online training courses, I strongly believe I have what it takes to make a positive difference in the role. That is a brilliant answer. That's exactly how I would respond to that question, why do you want to be a leader? Now, you can either pause the video if you want to and write down all of the questions and answers as we work through them together. Or if you want to wait, I will soon tell you where you can instantly download my full set of 22 interview questions and answers for leadership positions. Here's the next question. So what would you do in the first 30 days of being a leader? This is a really difficult one, and candidates often get caught out because they haven't created a plan. So this next leadership interview question assesses whether you have a plan in place for that first month of starting work. Do not say you would just do whatever they wanted you to do, because that demonstrates a lack of leadership. Tip number two, make sure you have a 30, 60 and 90-day plan in place for exactly what you aim to achieve once you start work in the role as a leader. Now, make sure you stay tuned on this video because I've got loads more great content to give you. But in the description below the video, I've created another video for you, which is my 30, 60 and 90-day plan for managers and leaders. So I teach you exactly how to create a brilliant rock solid plan that will help you get off your leadership role to a flying start. Because if you have a plan in place, you are far more likely to get hired. So let me give you my example answer. What would you do in the first 30 days of being a leader? Here we go. "In the first 30 days of starting work as a leader, I would get a thorough brief from the senior management team or company owners to ascertain my strategic goals and targets. I would familiarize myself with all company policies and procedures and then observe my team for several weeks to identify their strengths, and areas for improvement. I would then hold a team briefing, outline my vision, and detail what I wanted the team to achieve, and by when. I would also outline my values and the standards I expected everyone to adhere to before holding individual performance reviews to get to know each team member, their training needs, and aspirations." So that's a really good model answer. And if you give that response, when answering that question, what would you do in the first 30 days of being a leader? It tells the employer that you really know what you're going to do and you have the confidence to get off to a flying start, because they don't want to have to spend time training you up as a leader. Now, don't go anywhere because I still have eight more questions and answers to give you and you don't want to miss those.
