[0:00]Hello everyone and welcome back to class. I'm so glad you're here. Today we're going to talk about prayer. Prayer is talking to God. There's no right or wrong way to do it. It is amazing to know that the God of the universe, the God who made you, listens when you pray. To talk about what prayer is like, let's talk about something that you and I and everybody, we all do every single day without even thinking about it. And that's breathing. Breathing is something we do constantly. We breathe in oxygen. And we breathe out carbon dioxide. Just try to stop breathing for a minute and hold your breath.
[1:07]Why can't you hold your breath for very long? Well, you're right, it's because we have to breathe to live, right? That's how God made us. Prayer is a lot like breathing. Let's look up First Thessalonians 5:17 in the Bible. It says, Pray without ceasing. Just three words. Pray without ceasing. But they make a huge impact. Maybe you pray when you sit down to eat a meal. Or before bedtime, or when you go to church. And at these times, I bet you hold your hands together, and you bow your head, and close your eyes to pray. And you should pray at those times. That's good, but the Bible says that you should pray without stopping. That doesn't mean that you should go around all the time with your eyes closed and your head bowed, praying like this. No, if you did that, you'd probably get hurt. God wants us to be so aware that he's always with us, that we can just talk to him anytime, anywhere, about anything. You can just go through your life always talking to him, just like you'd talk to a friend who's standing next to you. For example, when you wake up in the morning, you can thank God for another beautiful day. You can thank him for your bed. You can thank him for your clothes, for your food. You can thank him for something you're excited about doing that day. You can pray for the people that you see when you go outside. Maybe your neighbors, or the people at the store, or the people at your school. You could pray for anyone you come in contact with. You can praise God for the beautiful things you see around you. Maybe your family or the sky or trees or animals. Because he made all that stuff. You can talk to God about anything you're afraid or worried about, the minute you think of it. You can talk to God all day long. It's not something you have to do in a certain way, or at a certain place, or at a certain time. You can just talk to him all day about whatever you're thinking about. So this week I want to challenge you. Every day when you get up, take a deep breath in, and ask God to fill your life with good things, and to show you even more that he's with you all the time. And then, take a deep breath out. And ask God to forgive you of all your sins, and ask him to cleanse out any yucky stuff in your life. The more you pray, the more natural it will become. Until you're doing it all day long without even thinking about it, just like breathing. Parents, if your kids would like to write to me with any questions or video suggestions, or to tell me what they learned, I would love to hear from them. So you can find my contact information in the description below. Thank you all so much for watching. I love you all so much and I hope to see you here next time. Bye.
