The new modern state of the art 9,000 square meter semi-automated warehouse facility with an ultimate capacity of 150,000 ton per annum is the home of the Mitchellcotts Air freight division at the regional Air freight hub. The Jamma Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya. For the exporting of goods, perishable or dry products will be delivered at the truck docks either as loose shipments or on Euro pallets. Once it is offloaded from the trucks, it is weighed, security scanned, and taken to the workstations. At the workstation, workers will pack the content into an aircraft ULD container for shipping. The ULD is weighed, labeled and transported to the automated elevating transfer vehicle which transfers the ULD to the rack for storage until the aircraft is ready for loading. Once the aircraft is ready for loading, the containers are sent out on motorized roller decks, loaded onto dollies and transported to the aircraft. An inventory management system provides for instantaneous and accurate tracking of goods as they are received by and when they leave the cargo facility, both on the air side and at the truck docks. For imported goods, ULD's are received from the aircraft and unpacked on the workstations. The workstations have a vertical lift function to assist workers with the unpacking of goods. In the dry import section of the warehouse, the terminal is equipped with over 800 Euro pallet storage racks. One of the capabilities which set the Mitchellcotts cargo terminal apart from just an ordinary cargo warehouse is its inhouse ability of processing pre-packed perishable or dry cargo ULD's. These ULD's will arrive at the warehouse pre-scanned and sealed where it is offloaded and directly taken to the elevating transfer vehicle. On the first and second floor, the building has more than 1,800 square meters of leble office space for perspective clients, cargo forwarders, or airlines. These offices can be configured to a client's requirements. The new facility is equipped with state of the art security systems and cargo handling equipment to ensure secure and efficient operations and guarantee quick turnarounds for our clients.
