[0:02]Hello everyone and welcome to our presentation. First of all, let me thank you all for being here. As you can see on the screen, our third project is based on text analysis of damage report. Which was made thanks to the efforts of Shulwah Manel, Brahimi Farah, Burihan Nesrin, Bota Nesrin, and Hamu Siri. This presentation is structured as follows: introduction, contextual features, the organizational and structural features of the damage report, and the last one, conclusion.

[0:41]Starting by introduction. Written reports are an integral part in many area including the maritime industry. One of the substantial report is damage report. It's also called loss report and it informs the career of any loss or damage found during unloading. Damage report is used within a professional domain and its discipline is marine transportation and shipping. So the purpose is to state the cause of the problem along with corrective actions that can be taken to minimize the risk of a future occurrence. It can also be used as a safety document outlining potential safety hazards around the workplace. We move on to the second one, which is contextual features. So when a shipper discovers a loss or damage he signals it to be examined by a marine surveyor who will detail it in a damage report. It gives information on the item (make, model, serial number, age and color) and confirms well how it was damaged (water damage, impact damage, etc.) as the severity of the damage. And details the probable cause of the loss or damage and the disposition of the damaged product. Then a narrative paragraph will follow that, outlining the precise sequence of what happened during the incident. The following heading is about the organizational and structural features of the damage report. Starting by the introduction, which should include two parts. We have instruction and we have the purpose of instruction. So in instruction, we should state the general information, we have date, time and location of the damage. Then we investigate how the damage was occurred and what was the causes. About language items, we have the use of accurate sentences, precise and clear expression, short, simple sentences to avoid flowery words.

[2:46]After the introduction come the body paragraph which contains five parts. We have survey procedures and attendances, narrative, nature and extent of damage, cause of wet damage to cargo and short landing of cargo. So we explain generally the damage, we describe in depth way what happened before, during and after the damage. We demonstrate the extent of the damage. We write a series of events leading up to the damage (causes) and we show the consequences of the damage. About language items, we use a simple sentences to avoid flowery words. No slongs or contraction, currency and relevancy, complete sentences, use of linking words. Use of statistics, table and not complex words, use of clear vocabulary and concise information and finally summarized phrases that reinforce the topics. The last one is the conclusion which contains one part, attachment. We demonstrate information that are relevant to the entire report. About language items, we use a short summarized phrases that reinforce the topics. As a conclusion for our project, we can say that damage reports are not only needed when certain damages occur. In case of no injuries, damage reports are so important that they can be submitted to the insurance companies. These reports ensure that drivers and fleet managers can assess needed repairs, as well as help justify insurance claims. I can say that our time is just about up, so to finish I would like to say thank you for your time and attention.
