[0:11]To meditate on peace, Paramahansa Yogananda said, "Peace emanates from the soul and is the sacred inner environment in which true happiness unfolds.
[0:31]Peace is not something we can acquire from outside ourselves. We must learn to discover it within.
[0:41]Through meditation, we become centered in the stillness and joy of our own essential nature, the soul, and partake of that divine peace, which is the actual presence of God.
[1:00]The peace that passeth all understanding. As we begin our meditation, it is important to sit in the correct meditation posture.
[1:15]The spine should be held straight, and the chin parallel to the floor.
[1:25]Close your eyes and gently lift your gaze upward without straining to the point between the eyebrows, the seat of concentration, and of the spiritual eye, or divine perception.
[1:45]Mentally command the body to be still and relaxed.
[1:52]Consciously feel the body relaxing. Leave aside all thoughts of the world.
[2:08]Let go of all cares and concerns, and feel the peace within.
[2:24]Let us begin with a prayer. Please repeat after me.
[2:32]Oh Spirit, teach me to find thy presence on the altar of my constant peace, and in the joy that springs from deep meditation.
[2:55]As you continue to sit completely still in meditation posture, let us practice a breathing exercise to help calm the body and mind.
[3:10]Keeping the gaze and attention focused at the point between the eyebrows, expel the breath through the mouth in a double exhalation.
[3:24]Now inhale through the nostrils, tensing the whole body, and clenching the fists.
[3:35]Hold briefly, then exhale, expelling the breath through the mouth in a double exhalation, and relaxing all the body parts at once.
[3:55]Let's repeat this three times.
[3:59]Inhale and tense. Hold. Exhale and relax.
[4:11]Inhale and tense. Hold. Exhale and relax.
[4:25]Inhale and tense. Hold. Exhale and relax.
[4:38]Now, one final time, without tension, inhale, hold, exhale, and completely relax.
[4:57]Now forget the breath. Let it flow in and out naturally, of its own accord, as in ordinary breathing.
[5:10]With the attention fixed at the point between the eyebrows, the center of calmness, mentally concentrate on the words of Paramahansa Ji that you're about to hear.
[5:24]Meditate on these words until you feel that divine peace has become a part of your own consciousness.
[5:37]Fix your mind inwardly between the eyebrows, on the shoreless lake of peace.
[5:48]Watch the eternal circle of rippling peace around you.
[5:56]The more you watch intently, the more you will feel the wavelets of peace spreading from the eyebrows to the forehead, from the forehead to the heart, and on to every cell in your body.
[6:21]Now the waters of peace are overflowing the banks of your body and inundating the vast territory of your mind.
[6:34]The flood of peace flows over the boundaries of your mind and moves on in infinite directions.
[6:55]Feel the calmness and stillness within.
[7:00]If restless thoughts enter your mind, gently dismiss them and return your concentration to the feeling of peace, of joy, of love, permeating your whole body and mind.
[7:21]Enjoy the stillness as we go deeper in silent meditation.
[7:30]Let us meditate.
[8:21]The words of Paramahansa Yogananda.
[8:26]I am in the temple of quietness. Peace fills my body, peace fills my heart, and dwells within my love.
[8:41]Peace within, without, everywhere.
[8:49]Infinite peace surrounds my life and permeates all the moments of my existence.
[9:00]Peace unto myself, peace unto my family, peace unto my nation, peace unto my world, peace unto my cosmos.
[9:21]Now please repeat this affirmation after me.
[9:25]First at a normal volume, then softer, then as a whisper, and finally repeat it mentally.
[9:35]Concentrate deeply on these words until you become absorbed in their inner meaning and convert them into an actual experience.
[9:51]I am in the temple of quietness.
[9:56]Peace fills my body, peace fills my heart, and dwells within my love.
[10:09]Peace within, without, everywhere.
[10:17]Infinite peace surrounds my life and permeates all the moments of my existence.
[10:30]Peace unto myself, peace unto my family, peace unto my nation, peace unto my world, peace unto my cosmos.
[10:53]I am in the temple of quietness.
[10:58]Peace fills my body, peace fills my heart, and dwells within my love.
[11:10]Peace within, without, everywhere.
[11:19]Infinite peace surrounds my life and permeates all the moments of my existence.
[11:30]Peace unto myself, peace unto my family, peace unto my nation, peace unto my world, peace unto my cosmos.
[11:52]I am in the temple of quietness.
[11:57]Peace fills my body, peace fills my heart, and dwells within my love.
[12:09]Peace within, without, everywhere.
[12:17]Infinite peace surrounds my life and permeates all the moments of my existence.
[12:30]Peace unto myself, peace unto my family, peace unto my nation, peace unto my world, peace unto my cosmos.
[12:53]Now repeat mentally only.
[12:58]I am in the temple of quietness.
[13:03]Peace fills my body, peace fills my heart, and dwells within my love.
[13:15]Peace within, without, everywhere.
[13:23]Infinite peace surrounds my life and permeates all the moments of my existence.
[13:36]Peace unto myself, peace unto my family, peace unto my nation, peace unto my world, peace unto my cosmos.
