[0:00]Hi, I'm Luke with Arrowhead Rifles. Today I'm going to do a quick video on how to prime and de-prime our large rifle Magnum Primer modules.
[0:08]To start with, we'll always wear safety glasses when we're working with primers. We've got three modules here that have already been fired.
[0:15]You always want to double check that the modules are fired before you you de-prime them. If you were to try to de-prime a hot module or a hot primer, the primer could fire and that obviously would be very bad.
[0:27]So to start with, we take the module, set it in the universal D-prime station, give it a couple taps with the hammer.
[0:35]This hammer is really overkill, but it's what we we had handy.
[0:41]knock the primers out.
[0:47]This base is available for purchase through the website, part number is ASG189.
[0:54]Uh then we go to prime the modules. I like to use the RCBS universal hand primer, which is also available through the website. I believe the part number on that is ASG215.
[1:07]We also sell Lee hand primers. They're a little more economical, maybe take a little more finesse to use than the universal one, but but they both work.
[1:17]So to prime it, we just stick the primer in there, squeeze it, seat the primer firmly. The universal hand primer has a really good feel.
[1:27]So you can feel when the primer bottoms out. With the Lee, it's a little easy to get carried away and use too much force and maybe bend the rim on the module. So you want to exercise a little bit of finesse when you're seating that primer uh to make sure you don't go overboard and damage the module.
[1:43]So with that, we'll prime the modules and they're ready for reuse. As far as maintenance on the modules, uh periodically with smokeless, you know, maybe every 5 to 10 shots, you'll you might give them a soak in Hoppe's number 9 or some other powder solvent to remove the carbon.
[2:01]With Blackhorn 209, it's a little more important uh if you go to store the modules long term, the Blackhorn 209 residue will corrode the brass. You definitely want to clean the modules before you put them away for storage.
[2:14]So when I say soak them in some solvent, find a little margarine container, other plastic container, dump them in there with some solvent, shake them around, let them sit for a few hours, rinse them off with some isopropyl alcohol, the 90% uh from the pharmacy is what I use uh to get the uh oil residue off, let them dry, then they're back in business.
[2:35]Well, thanks for watching the video. Uh for either purchasing parts or more information, visit the website www.arrowheadrifles.com or give us a follow on Facebook, Instagram or YouTube under the username Arrowhead Rifles. Thanks again for watching.
