[0:00]In this retelling of the beloved parable of the prodigal son, we will follow the journey of a young man, whom we have named Eli.
[0:10]His father, whom we have named Amos, is a wise and patient man.
[0:16]Though these are not the original biblical names, we have chosen them to bring the story to life, while honoring the timeless lessons of grace, redemption, and forgiveness.
[0:30]Amos was a man who had given his life to the land and his family.
[0:35]The older son, Samuel, faithful and steady, content in his father's work, his heart was firmly planted at home, knowing his place and finding peace in his responsibilities.
[0:48]But the younger, his heart longed for distant lands, for the unknown, while his family's life was one of stability and peace.
[0:58]Eli yearned for something beyond these walls.
[1:02]Eli went to his father with a simple request, one that would change everything.
[1:08]Father, I want my share of the inheritance now.
[1:11]I'm leaving to find my own way. Amos's heart sank as he understood the weight of his son's request.
[1:18]But as a father, he knew he could not stand in the way of his son's journey.
[1:23]I have worked my whole life for this family.
[1:27]But if it is your desire to go, then my son, I will give you what you ask.
[1:32]And so, with a heavy heart, Amos prepared to give his son what he asked for.
[1:38]With his father's gift in hand, Eli stepped away, not knowing the cost of his choice.
[1:45]But the path he chose was now his own. Eli turned his back on all he knew, and with that, he stepped into the unknown.
[1:53]Amos stood in the quiet evening, watching his son vanish into the distance.
[1:59]His heart heavy with sorrow, but also with hope.

[2:13]Eli entered the city, a place full of promises and endless possibilities.
[2:20]He forgot about his father's estate, replaced by the excitement of the unknown.
[2:25]The city seemed to welcome him, offering everything.
[2:29]Wealth, laughter from new friends, and the pleasures of the moment.
[2:34]He felt on top of the world. His money seemed endless, and with every coin spent, his happiness grew.
[2:42]But the more he spent, the closer he came to losing everything.
[2:47]Freedom was all he had ever wanted, and now he was living it fully.
[2:53]Surrounded by temptations, the lessons of home were forgotten.
[2:59]The world promised everything. As days passed, his money started to run out.
[3:05]The excitement of his new life slowly faded. Even though the world still offered everything, something inside him felt empty.
[3:13]The city that had welcomed him now seemed distant, and he had to face the consequences of his choices.
[3:20]The parties, the laughter, and the music were still there, but he felt like a stranger in the life he had chosen.
[3:29]The joy once found now felt like a distant memory.
[3:34]The truth hit hard.
[3:37]The world that had once embraced him now seemed cold.
[3:41]His wealth and status felt useless.
[3:44]The freedom he had longed for had come at a cost, and he was left to reflect on the choices that led him here.
[3:51]One by one, his riches slipped away.
[3:54]The people who had once surrounded him disappeared, leaving nothing but regret.
[4:00]With no money left, the world he had once loved now seemed like a memory.
[4:06]The joy and wealth were gone.
[4:09]Now, only emptiness remained.
[4:13]Eli wandered the streets. The city that had once welcomed him now felt cold.
[4:19]He was hungry and tired.
[4:22]The pig's food, once something he would never have touched, now seemed like a lifeline.
[4:28]Then, in his despair, a thought hit him.
[4:32]What if he went back home? What if there was still a way back? He thought about his father's house.
[4:39]The servants there had plenty to eat, far more than he had now.
[4:43]Eli's path was uncertain, but his heart knew it was the right one.
[4:49]He was going home, no matter the cost, no matter how broken he was.
[4:55]He would return to his father.
[4:58]Amos stood at the edge of his estate, his heart aching with longing.
[5:03]He had been waiting, watching, praying, hoping for his son's return.
[5:09]And in the quiet of the evening, he saw something in the distance.
[5:13]His heart raced. There on the horizon was Eli.
[5:18]A flood of emotions hit him, relief, joy, and overwhelming love.
[5:23]Without thinking, Amos ran.
[5:26]His legs moved faster than he could understand, driven by a love that had never faded.
[5:32]When they finally met, everything else seemed to stop.
[5:35]My son. Eli was speechless, overwhelmed by the love his father showed.
[5:41]In that moment, all the years of separation, pain, and shame faded away.
[5:47]He was home. But Eli, still feeling guilty, pulled back for a moment.
[5:51]His eyes were filled with regret, and his heart was torn.
[5:55]Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.
[6:01]I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Amos looked at him with compassion, no anger in his eyes.
[6:06]You are my son, and you are lost no more.
[6:09]Without hesitation, Amos ordered the best robe and the family ring to be brought.
[6:16]The feast was to begin. This was a day to celebrate, for the son who was lost had been found.
[6:21]As they walked toward the house, the sounds of celebration filled the air.
[6:26]That night, the table was set, and the feast began.
[6:31]The past was forgiven, and a new beginning started.
[6:34]But from the fields, Samuel, the older son, came back.
[6:39]The sounds of celebration reached his ears.
[6:43]Unable to hold back his feelings, Samuel asked one of the servants.
[6:48]Why is there a feast? Why are they celebrating? The servant, with a knowing smile, explained.
[6:55]Your brother has returned, and your father has ordered a feast to celebrate his homecoming.
[7:00]The words hurt Samuel's heart, but they also made something inside him break.
[7:06]He had stayed, worked, and obeyed.
[7:09]Yet his brother, who had wasted everything, was being treated like nothing had happened.
[7:16]Unable to hold back his frustration, Samuel stormed into the feast, his voice breaking the joy.
[7:23]You never gave me a feast like this.
[7:27]But he who wasted everything is welcomed home like a king. He shouted. I've been here, working, while he squandered everything.
[7:34]Why does he deserve this? Amos's heart ached as he looked at Samuel, his son who had stayed, worked, and obeyed.
[7:42]He spoke gently, but with the love only a father can have.
[7:47]My son, you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.
[7:52]But we must celebrate and be glad because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again.
[8:00]He was lost and is found. As the celebration continued around them, Eli sat with Amos, his heart heavy with gratitude.
[8:09]He had once been lost.
[8:12]He had wasted much, seeking fulfillment in empty places.
[8:16]But in his father's forgiveness, he found something that was deeper than any treasure he had once sought.
[8:23]His father's love.
[8:26]And so, as Jesus was telling this parable, the true meaning became clear.
[8:32]This was not just the story of a son returning home.
[8:35]It was a picture of God's unending grace and mercy.
[8:39]No matter how far we wander, no matter how lost we may feel.
[8:45]God, like Amos, will always welcome us back with open arms.
[8:49]His love does not waver.
[8:52]His forgiveness knows no bounds, and his heart is always ready to embrace us.
[8:57]And just like that, we are reminded that no matter how far we fall, no matter how broken we may feel.
[9:04]God's love is always there, waiting, patient, and ever-present.
[9:10]His arms are open wide, ready to heal, ready to restore, and all we need to do is turn back to Him.
