[0:00]Thank you for coming back to the show. Yeah. Uh, you have so many uh accomplishments. I want to run through them so right now we understand what's happening here. Uh, first of all, since the last time you were on our show, BTS has been nominated for five Grammys. Uh Your single seven made history by being the fastest song in history to reach 1 billion streams.
[0:32]Uh, a few weeks ago, you replaced yourself on Spotify's list of most streamed songs in the world. Uh, and now your debut so um Golden is out and it's already breaking all sorts of records. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, I, I have news for you. I have news for you that I don't even know if you know this yet. This just happened an hour ago. Your single seven just became Platinum right now. Come on now. Just happened. Congratulations. Thank you. Uh, how does it all feel? Are these things that you imagined were possible? You you really make it sound like I'm a huge global pop star. Well, yeah, this helps. Yes, yes. I think you are. I think you are. Frankly speaking, I was confident, but this is beyond my imagination.
[1:53]And I am very grateful to ARMY. Because if it was not for ARMY, this wouldn't be possible. Yeah.
[2:10]The best fans. Uh, before we get into the album, I want to learn more about you. When you're not breaking records and being a global pop star, what do you like doing? Like what do you what do you what what Outside outside of music, what do you do for fun? I think uh, it's pretty ordinary, like many people. Like sometimes I spend my whole day in bed. Oh, cooking. Oh, cooking. Working out.
[2:49:54]Yeah. What do you cook? What do you like to cook? Do you know Mak-guk-su? Noodles? Yes. I'd love noodles. Yeah. Yeah. That's the way to do it. If I get a chance, I can cook it for you. Yeah. All right. Yes, I will do that, but also I heard that you like making your own pizza. Pizza. Ah, yeah. Yeah? I like pizza, but I didn't like leftovers. So I was like cold pizza nugget. Well, have you ever had New York City pizza? No. Oh, I got you.
[3:49]New York pizza. This is this is one of my favorite This is one of my favorite pizza. Yeah. This is what I like. This is Joe's pizza. Let's cheers. Cheers, bud. Mm. Ah, good, right? Yum. Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. I have more questions for you. I have more questions for you. Um, I I was looking through some interviews with you. And this question made me laugh. It said, uh what is the scariest thing in the world? The scariest thing in the world for you. And your answer was, does anyone know? Microwave. Yes. Ah, a microwave. A microwave. I always worry that it will explode. What are you talking about? Uh, when I was young, Yeah. I used to be afraid. But still afraid. Why? Why are you afraid? I guess it's a little frightening cuz I don't really understand it. Boom. Yeah, yeah. I know nothing Nothing's going to happen. No, nothing's going to happen. Nothing is going to happen. You'll you'll be fine with a microwave, but I I I understand. I don't I don't understand how it does get warmer, but maybe I'll research that. I'll learn. Um, I I also um, I I was looking that, uh, you you go on this live stream sometimes. And I'm going to is it called Weverse? Yeah, Weverse. Weverse, yeah, is is is the is the live stream and sometimes you do karaoke. Sometimes you're cooking. This thing that made me laugh. This is my favorite thing you did. Uh, you fell asleep. You fell asleep. And you you fell asleep and just slept for 45 minutes and everyone 6 million people tuned in to watch you sleep. Did you what did you did you feel sleepy going in? What happened? I I think my fans ARMY liked it because it was something very unexpected. But actually, it's a little embarrassing. Yes. Yes. I I want to do this too. I I think it's so funny. I think it's great. Uh, I I'm going to try this. Yeah. And see how many people tuned into watch me sleep. Uh, but I snore. So it's going to be rough. Yeah. Okay, you'll watch. Thanks. I appreciate it. Uh, since you've been with the band, this is 10 10 year anniversary of BTS. Um, and you guys have been so nice to come on our our show and thank you very much for always coming on our show. We appreciate it. Uh, I was going to ask you what what what what what's one thing that you're most proud of? So whether I put it lightly or seriously, I think the two things I'm most proud of are ARMY and BTS. If it weren't for them, I would not be what I am today. Yes, that's called you say humble. Uh, uh, I want to talk Golden. Uh, uh, congrats on this. I want to I want to know about the album title. Now, a lot of, uh, golden is that a nickname for you, right? Golden Maknae. Golden Maknae. And what is what does that mean? Golden Maknae. It means uh, Golden Youngest of the group in Korean. Yeah. And so you you that stuck with you golden and you knew that was going to be the title of the album always if you went solo. I couldn't predict that from back then. RM coined that nickname. I have a lot of association to this term “golden” and when my mom was pregnant, she had a golden dream.
[8:19]If I look back on my journey, it's very much a golden moment. So when I thought about the title of this album, ‘GOLDEN’ was the only thing that came up in my mind.
[8:35]Yeah. It's a great cover. Great cover. By the way, look at those abs.
[8:47]Yeah, I mean. Never. Never. I'll never I'll never achieve that ever. Uh, I love the album. It's fun. I will say the first half is very kind of, uh fun. It's it's, uh, you know, it's a Jack Carlo, uh Major Lazer. It's it's it's it's kind of poppy and fun. Second half gets kind of, um more serious. Uh, some are sad, sadder than others. Is that what you wanted? Do you want to be that versatile? I wanted to have this universal emotion - love. Everyone can relate to it. I wanted to show the change of this emotion, and also in terms of the versatility, I wanted to become a solo artist who can pull off a lot of genres and that's what I try to do here. Yeah, I think you did it. Yeah. Do you run any of the songs by your your bandmates, the rest of BTS? Cuz we we had Jimin on the show and he told me that he told me that he runs his songs by you guys before he releases them. Yeah, I shared my music with them. Since we've been together such a long time, they didn't really say anything particular. They just said, "It's great." Yeah, they're nice. Yeah. You're family. Yeah. Uh, can we can we say that there may be a golden world tour in the future? Of course I want to do a world tour as a solo artist, but I don't think I have enough songs for that. So I want to complement them more and make more songs, and maybe when I'm ready, I can do the tour in full swing. On November 20th, I'm having a concert. It will also be live-streamed. I hope people look forward to it. Yeah. If you need an opening act, I can do two or three songs. You can do it. Of course. Yeah. Let's talk about the song you're performing Standing Next to You later in the show. What does that song mean to you? When I first heard “Standing Next to You,” I thought it was so cool. I thought this was the song that could best show my vocals and performance as an artist. Of course, it had to be the main track for my album. I'm going to show it to you tonight. Yeah. Is there a little choreography from Standing Next to You that you could teach me? Yeah, of course. You can teach me? Yes. What do I do? So simple. One, two, three, four. Pam, pam, standing next to you. Pam. No, yeah. I don't know.
[12:39]I don't know if I can do that. Can I get a beat maybe? You can do it. One, two, three, four, five, six, standing next to you. Jung Kook, everybody. Golden is out now. And later, Jung Kook will be performing Standing Next to You. Stick around everybody.
