Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect
TubeScript is designed to work without requiring an account. We collect minimal information to operate the service:
- YouTube URLs you submit — to fetch transcripts. These are not linked to your identity.
- IP address — used solely for rate limiting (3 free transcripts per day). We do not store IP addresses long-term.
- Browser fingerprint hash — a lightweight hash of non-identifying browser characteristics (screen size, timezone, language) used as a secondary rate-limiting mechanism. This is not used for tracking or advertising.
- Email address — only if you choose to subscribe to a paid plan. Your email is stored by Stripe, our payment processor, and used to manage your subscription.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the transcript extraction service
- Enforce rate limits for free-tier usage
- Process payments and manage subscriptions via Stripe
- Improve the service (aggregate, anonymous usage analytics)
3. Data Storage and Caching
Transcripts are cached for up to 7 days to improve response times and enable permalink sharing. Cached transcripts are not linked to any user. Rate-limiting records are automatically deleted after 2 days.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Stripe — payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Vercel — hosting. Subject to Vercel's Privacy Policy.
- Supabase — database. Subject to Supabase's Privacy Policy.
5. Cookies
We use a single functional cookie (ts_usage) to track your daily free transcript usage. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If you subscribe, a session cookie (ts_pro) is used to maintain your subscription status.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising purposes. We only share data with the third-party services listed above as necessary to operate the product.
7. Your Rights
Since we collect minimal data and don't require accounts, there is typically no personal data to delete. If you have a paid subscription, you can manage or cancel it through the Stripe customer portal. For any privacy-related requests, contact us at privacy@tubescript.cc.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of TubeScript after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
