[0:00]This supermarket in the Netherlands has some of the best practical sound design I've ever heard! All right, I'm going to get some potatoes, tomatoes, and a nice bottle of wine for the weekend. So a couple of years ago, supermarkets here in the Netherlands started getting self-checkout counters. Now, especially in those early days, people often forgot to get their receipt. Now, you needed the receipt to open this little gate here and leave the store. So, Albert Heijn came up with this genius sound design. There's a couple of sounds this counter makes. Firstly, when you're scanning a product, but then there's this beautiful little arpeggiated chord, notifying a customer's payment was successful. But they're not done yet. This is actually a B diminished chord with an F in the bass. And no matter what key you're in, this chord sounds super unresolved. Then, only when you've pushed this button, this beautiful satisfying chord can be heard. And it's saying, now you're done, you may leave. Genius, right? So I think
